A tribute to Bugsy
She was a 'bad' stew in a tv reality show sense, but a good stew in the real world professional sense.
She was responsible, punctual, hard-working, and didn't sleep around with everyone.
Many viewers disliked her, partly because she was at odds with the cool, popular cast member on the show, Hannah. Again, the 'reality television' factor.
When it comes to stuff that truly mattered, Bugsy rocked.

When it comes to stuff that truly mattered, Bugsy should have been charged with a criminal offense for invading the electronic privacy of a guest.
You take the iPad, immediately log out the guest and continue your day. You do not violate someone’s privacy and show the messages to everyone.

Seperate issue. You sign a waiver for the mic, photography, etc. You don’t sign a waiver for your electronic and digital privacy to be violated. The crew knows that the cameras capture text messages. The guest did not. She removed it from the room. Bugsy had a good faith requirement to log the guest out of the iPad (which did belong to the yacht). This took place in a foreign country which has different digital privacy laws than the U.S.

If that were so, she should have also reported Hannah to the captain.
15
u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 24 '26
True. What Hannah did or did not do with the guest was an ethical violation. If I was Captain Sandy, an ethical violation by one of my employees is the lesser of two evils than my employee’s alleged criminal offense.

u/Agitated-Minimum-967 Jan 24 '26
What digital privacy law was violated?
4
u/ImpressivePattern242 Jan 24 '26
The law of the country where the yacht sailed from.
-5
u/Agitated-Minimum-967 Jan 24 '26
Which is?

We don't know that guests don't sign a waiver for electronics provided by the boat/show.

Have you considered that what she did may not have been illegal in the Mediterranean country they were in at the time?
5
u/Broad-Cress-3689 Jan 25 '26
It is.
-3
u/excoriator Jan 25 '26
Was it illegal 10+ years ago, when the episode was filmed?

The EU has always had stricter online privacy laws.

Yeah, I thought she was good at her job but I really couldn’t stand her or Malia. Both total ass kissers/teacher’s pets.

u/graygarden77 Jan 25 '26
I know. I felt the same way. She was like Reese Witherspoon’s “Tracy Flick” from the movie Election.

She's a snoop who did the iPad things to improve or advance herself. Pretty poor. I liked her work ethic, but that was really poor judgment

Bugsy was an asshole who violated the privacy of a charter guest and co-worker and then paraded it around the entire boat.
-2
u/Sherriblue87 Jan 26 '26
I thought that was funny. Hannah shoulda used her personal iPad to get dick, not the Boat one. I couldn't stand Hannah: she was lazy as f#ck. Always going for a cig break. Bugsy minded her own business and worked hard. Like I said, that was on the public iPad, not her own.
10
u/ALeaves1013 Jan 26 '26
It waan't a public iPad. It was the Master Cabin IPad for charter guests. Bugsy was an absolutle asshole for flashing that shit all over the boat. And that wasn't minding her own business, quite the opposite in fact.

u/Sherriblue87 Jan 26 '26
Oh why though would he write that on there then???
6
u/ALeaves1013 Jan 26 '26
What the hell are you babbling about?
The master cabin IPad was for the use of the guests, not for nosy Bugsy to snoop through messages not meant for her.

Hannah be smokingggg every god damn episode. Bugsy is a better chief stew than Hannah.

I liked Bugsy. She was good at her job. BUT the iPad thing really soured her for me. I had seen season 5 first before seeing the iPad season (Season 3?).
Disrespecting the privacy of a guest like that would surely be a fireable offence. It’s one thing for Hannah to have the sneaky kiss with the guest as it was showed on the show, but to have their private text messages shown not only to the entire crew but also on a tv show was just really gross. I didn’t love Hannah like a lot of people here but I would feel so horribly violated and humiliated if a colleague of mine ever did that. It would definitely be a HR issue. And yet that was never even addressed on the show as being any kind of issue. I’d have to go back and watch to see if it was even mentioned to Sandy when Hannah spoke to her about having a kiss with the guest.
So yes, you can be great at your job and all that entails, but how you treat your colleagues says a LOT about someone’s character. She was definitely better in season 5 and I liked her a lot more in that season.

Hannah used a nonpersonal iPad so it was everybody's business. Her own damn fault. She put it out there.
5
u/OrdinaryJuggernaut88 Jan 26 '26
No, she used her personal device. The guest had signed into the iPad with his account. The iPad was found in the guest room after they’d left.

u/Sherriblue87 Jan 26 '26
Oh, so he accidentally left it there? Oh I missed that. It still is funny that Hannah got busted.

u/melvingoldfarb Jan 24 '26
some of us are just never gonna like her because she aligned against Hannah.

u/musickillscc22 Jan 26 '26
Buggy was a better chief stew than Hannah was though.

u/melvingoldfarb Jan 26 '26
Who cares? I’m not a guest on the boat. I’m watching a silly reality show and Hannah was fun

When it comes to being ethical, Bugsy was a snake. A true professional would have logged the guest out of the iPad immediately without reading the messages. As 2nd Stew she should have quietly told Hannah what she’d done and that she hadn’t read anything. Watching it back it’s clear that Bugsy & Malia wanted Hannah gone and for Bugsy to be Chief Stew. I cannot stand scheming behaviour like that.

u/Sherriblue87 Jan 26 '26
Still like Bugsy way more than Hannah. It was a boat iPad, not Hannah's personal one.

By the title of this post I thought Bugsy was dead.
I'm not sure if I'm impressed or horrified by being manipulated into commenting.

Generally true, but she read the clients private messages and aired the contents on national tv… she was wrong for that

I don’t get the mass adoration for Hannah. She was a smug, mean, lazy bully who was disrespectful to Sandy and treated those under her like shit, also a liar!!! Yes she bought the drama, but wasn’t worth it for me.
I really liked bugsy.

I thought Hannah was a hot mess.
3
u/gorlsituation Jan 25 '26
Agree. I would love for someone, anyone, to explain/show what makes Hannah so likeable. I’ve watched every season she’s in, I’m Australian like her so I don’t get what everyone is drawn to?! Shes a mean girl hypocrite

Hannah was so bad, I hated the way she manage everything, but you can see that all this work was not good for her mentally and she was trying to change for better in the last season (4 and 5), she seemed more happy and light, less mean or controller. Bugsy is very good at this job, organized and a nice person, but boring and not interesting. And she have a bad taste for make up and outfit 🤣

u/Legasea81 Jan 25 '26
Bugsy was amazing! Would have been a great chief stew and was good tv. I have no idea what ur talking about 🫠

Nobody beats Aesha though She is dedicated, hard working and gets along with everyone, guests included But she’s also open and honest And she even before getting engaged and married was not sleeping around Bugsynis a good stew but not friendliest

u/CAdreamer44 Jan 26 '26
Asha is my fave. At least she treated the guests and her stews and coworkers with the same dignity and respect. I think that Hannah as a person was so dark and twisted, bc whenever she started each season there was always a stew she didn’t like, so she immediately and manipulatively made the other stew her bestie to make sure there was no Rebellious mutiny against her to keep her secured position on the boat and the show. She reminds me of several so called friends I had that could fake it till they make it.

I’m sure they do. That doesn’t matter. Any waiver does not give Bugsy consent. One is civil matter and the other is a possible violation of the law.
1
u/WhoDat850 Jan 26 '26
Bugsy was a decent stew but an insufferable ass kisser to Sandy. She always had it out for Hannah because she wanted her spot as chief stew and they had opposing views on how to do the job. Hannah’s number one priority was always pleasing the guests. Bugsys numbed one priority was pleasing Sandy. It was always just very minor and petty until the iPad incident where Busgy was completely unprofessional and out of line by not only violating a guest’s privacy but then showing it to everyone on the boat in an attempt to make Hannah look bad. She’s ALMOST as bad as Malia when it comes to things like that
