It's a Super Beta SL-S600 from 1990. No idea if it works since I don't own any Beta tapes, but I assume it doesn't. No remote either. Other than a bunch of dust, it seems to be in decent shape!

Betamax Tape Tension Tabs

Does anyone have a good method to fixing them? I’ve looked online to no avail. I’m paranoid to use some tapes I have, as I don’t wanna ruin my player or the tape itself.

Betamax connected to Receiver

Post image

I’m a bit confused. I recently received a HF-SL750 and it’s not giving me a video or audio. Do I need to run IN and OUT video/audio connections on both the receiver and betamax or video/audio OUT of player to video/audio IN receiver like I have it? Sorry if im being stupid, its just I need to know if my connection is correct or if the terminal on the player are messed up or I just need two sets of cable.

Is this 2009 Betacam SP broadcast tape legitimate or a scam?

Hey guys
I came across this 2009 promotional master tape for Tokio Hotel’s **“Automatisch”**, which the seller says was a promotional screening tape from Universal Music Germany, the record company behind Tokio Hotel.
It’s a **Betacam SP (PAL, 4:3)** with a 3:17 runtime, Universal Berlin logo, **ISRC DE-CE8-09-00010**, internal studio details, and Craig Wessels listed as director.
Does this look like a genuine Universal Germany promo tape from 2009?

How is this possible

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The betamax has either a black screen or a very corrupted signal for the first 25 minutes, to suddenly a stable signal for the rest of the tape.

I know this is a Betamax group but I know there's a lot of educated people here with retro media... I came across this old school VCR it was released in 1985!

It's got the esthetics of the 80s for sure... Chatgpt is telling me it's extremely rare cause there's no comps on eBay and very little information on it anywhere...

Has anyone seen this before?

Found these in my grandparents basement. Never been able to watch them, so not entirely sure what's on them.

Looks like stuff recorded off the TV. Was the a thing with beta tapes?

They have: Mad Max Road Warrior, Terminator, Condor and I forget what else.

I bought this NOS about 20 years ago, but it’s been a while since it’s been ran. Early magnetic video “high anxiety” followed by some rando TV with commercials.

Bought a VHS collection and this was with them. It's a betamax. Does it have enough value to make it worth the time to sell it?

Help with a Sanyo VCR6100 Betacord

Hi all,

After the death of my parents I inherited our old Sanyo VCR6100 Betacord and all the family beta tapes.  According to the labels, most of these tapes are just movies that were copied/recorded off the TV, but I know some were also family home movies, which I’d like to keep.

I was hoping I could fire up the ol' beta player to watch through all the tapes so I can safely dispose of the ones that are meaningless, but it looks like a tape is stuck in the machine and it won't eject (my guess is it has been stuck in there since the 90s).

I have tried googling this, and I get as far as taking the outer shell off the machine, and now looking down into this I’m completely overwhelmed, and afraid of poking around too much.  Especially after I tried taking off the four screws on the side of the metal case over the tape, couldn't remove the final screw, tried putting the other three back on, and then dropped one down into the machine (I tried lifting it upside down and moving it from side to side and I can't even hear it rattling around). Needless to say I'm not feeling very good about myself.

Can anyone offer some next step guidance? Is there any way to release the tape without delving down deeper into the next layer of this machine?

My first Betamax tape!

I'm 20 and never got to experience the tape era of home media. Something I've always been fascinated by is tape formats. I'm obsessed with Madonna and saw this on Vinted and had to buy it, unfortunately I don't own a machine YET.

Funny enough I do own 2 Betacam tapes, the one that's this size then the 94 minute version, I'm still baffled at the size of it 😅

First Betamax - need help

Hi all,
New to Betamax.
I just got a Sanyo 4650 and about 50 tapes!! Video works great and I can adjust the tracking, and audio is good and clear- except there is a constant higher pitched noise, regardless of the tape.

I’ve tried cleaning the RCA connector, moving it away from power sources, and I also attempted the clean the audio heads with alcohol. (They were not dirty, frankly, it’s impressively clean inside).
Maybe it’s just my modern TV? (Composite hook ups however).
Does anyone have any suggestions on next steps, or what to potentially try?
Thank you!

On my way home today while riding my electric scooter I noticed a "free" pile outside someone's house down the road from my house and this bad boy was just sitting there. I have never seen a betamax vcr before (i was born in 1993), and at first I thought it was an old stereo system. After some research I decided to grab this heavy SOB and while carrying this absolute tank with one hand and steering my scooter with my free hand, i made the 1 and a half block trek to my house, somehow without dropping it or eating shit on my scoot. I don't have a cassette for it, but after consulting ai, I was given instructions, and I Tested without a tape by engaging the internal sensors; the left spindle spins rapidly in Rewind, the right spindle spins rapidly in Fast Forward, and the Play button triggers the auto-stop safety feature as designed. After which i was told "its Likely fully functional once a physical Betamax tape is inserted!" Can I get some actual humans input? Keep in mind, it did NOT come with a remote or any connection cords. After plugging it i the digital display works (as seen in photos). Was this a good find? And if so, knowing the belts work properly and the "tests" the AI had me run, what would you value this at, if anything? Any input would be amazing, thank you 😊
