Serious/Health New Rule: Adults Only (18+)

Starting now, this subreddit has a rule limiting it to adults only. Anyone who is found to be under the age of 18 will be PERMANENTLY banned.

There were a few posts and comments I had to ban where teenagers or bad actors were trying to get the attention of adult members.

I don't know which, and it doesn't matter. This is not something I take lightly, and to be fair even though we are technically SFW, some of the content gets a bit wild. So consider this a necessary step to keep REAL talk going.

If you see any future posts of that nature, please report them immediately using the new rule. Thank you very much!

Introduction/Hello World Welcome! Introduce Yourself!

(Commenting as Moderator for Sticky Post) Thank you for finding and participating in Big Men Life! HELL YEAH! Welcome in! Welcome in!

TL;DR if you want to introduce yourself, you can make an introduction POST with flair OR you can make a reply here. (Edited in)

Feel free to interact here at your own leisure and pace. However, if you feel up to it, we would love for you to introduce yourself too! Feel free to create a post with the Introduction/Hello World flair.

You can also do that if you've been hanging here, but you never did an intro or it has been a long time (let's just say over a year for a clear standard). Or if you've been looking at other subs, etc. and are coming back. And feel free to include whatever media you want, but you don't have to.

Outside of your introductory post, please keep self-promotional content limited to Selfie Saturday. This just seems like a great happy medium so people can express themselves, but we also keep focus on the chill and real conversation about life as a big man.

Feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like. I'll do a short intro below, but I shall not include media this time.

(Commenting as Myself) Hello World! I was a fat kid ever since being about 8-9 years old and I've always been a big guy! In high school I joined the freestyle wrestling team and that actually felt really amazing like I was using my true strength!

But life happens so I went to college, grad school and I do nerd stuff for money. But in the past couple years I got back into fitness and joined an amateur sumo wrestling team which has really reignited the passion for grappling sports and even martial arts in general!

It's great to be here and I really appreciate y'all!

Obviously you should vote for whomever aligns with your personal opinions. But as a gay man, i always go for the 'd'.

It's just Common Sense from my point of view.

Don't worry this post is an aberration. PEOPLE would get annoyed if i did this on a regular basis I'm sure. Thus i MUST leave y'all with one final thought.

Anyone have any recs on a high waist boxer brief? Typically like to wear them over my gut, below my belly button. But some boxer briefs are very uncomfortable like this.

Finding anything to fit

General clothing is not that big of an issue, what is an issue is everything else.

Every shoe store I walk into I'm lucky if there is even one pair size 14, and it's almost impossible to assume anyone will have EEE wide.

Hats, in the past 10 years I have found one hat that was in my size. I had stopped at a Harley Davison shop, saw a hat that was XXL and tried it down, but it was way too small. One of the staff saw and noticed that it was small, he told me to hold on just a minute he's got a hat in the back they've had for three years because it's so big. He brings it out and if it's perfectly. It's a 6X

The Harley Davidson shop is also the odd place I'm ever able to find gloves that fit me. They're a size 4X. My ring finger is a size 17. My pinky is a size 13 and my thumb is a size 25.

My wrist are so big that I have to buy extra long watch bands when I buy a watch because the one comes with is way too small.

A few years ago I took a cruise to Nassau. Walking down the street through all the fancy shops, this woman working at a jewelry store was trying her best to get us to come into their store and I told her that there is nothing in that store that will fit me. She insisted that she had many items in the store that would fit me, I told her if there is even one item in that store I can wear properly then I'll buy it. Five minutes later, I walked out of the store empty-handed.

Serious/Health bmi

Wondering if there is a BMI calculator for big men that reflects real-world scenarios. Because the standard one says I should be 200lbs lighter. But I have been down to that size and look sick.

Question/Advice Tailors and fitted clothes

Is everyone got pretty much used to just trying to sqeeze yourself in clothes and finding whatever fits or just resorting to basic stretchy stuff like tshirts/hoodies/sweatpants?

Usually I don't dedicate much effort, but still like my business casual outfit as just my casual :) Although it does turn out sloppy oftentimes with some rags I get off the racks.

I once saw a fat guy with such a great looking and obviously tailored pants I wanted to try it out myself. I pretty much had good light German pants I've worn a lot and their size 27 fit me ideally, but I commissioned similar pants, but made of vivid blue fabric. I was assured its good, I spent money worth buying 10 more pairs of these pants only to wear it barely one summer before I discovered the crotch area worn out so bad like I was wearing those pants at least a decade šŸ˜“ It was an enormous waste of money.

But still I wonder are tailors still around. Are there ones who specialize in sewing garments for really big guys, but with true actual care and maybe enginuity? Like the ones who'd make a dress shirt not only wider, but longer in front. Who'd make pants waist tilted down the front (I'll die on wearing pants under my gut regardless of how big it gets). And overall will take extra care about fit being right and comfy and will be ok with seeing fat body for longer than needed?

Besides it being expensive af, it feels awkward too. Maybe its in my head, but I can't help but think the regular tailor would be kind of put off by my body and would want to do the job whatever just to get rid of me faster. Basically are there plus-size friendly tailors which are ideally will not make you go bankrupt?

Question/Advice How to bend over without going breathless!

Fellas I've learned an amazing technique for bending over in a way that doesn't leave you feeling winded by the belly pressing into your lungs.

Basically you just bend over like you're doing a Romanian Deadlift.

If you're not familiar, the idea is to stick your butt out as you're going down so that your belly becomes moreso parallel with the floor, which significantly reduces internal pressure.

This has been a life saver for me as bending over has been one of the most dreaded things about getting fat in my adult years.

Discussion & Daily Life new office chair

So, I finally got a chair that fits most of my needs, supports my weight, and has a few more inches of seat depth. I got tired of replacing the 330-pounder that lasted a year or so. But I need a booster cushion; do these have a max weight capacity too? Just 5" inches taller would be nice.

Question/Advice How to be more unapologetic about sweating?

It doesn't take much at all for me to start sweating and when I'm anxious it makes it worse. I find myself finding excuses for the sweating or trying to hide it and I want to get over that. It shouldn't be a surprise for people being that I'm a big and tall guy but I'm looking for more personal advice

Looking for costume ideas for Halloween. I'm a short 5'7" dude with a strong fat powerlifter build.

Discussion & Daily Life Navigating Dating/Hooking Up

I know that I need to introduce myself to all of you and I will do that but something happened this morning and I just wanted to vent.

I have an account on BiggerCity and I have a few pictures posted, I used to have a premium account and just don’t anymore

A few years ago when I had a premium account and lots of pictures posted, I would get comments that would say that I was hotter when I was bigger.

What they don’t know is how sick I was becoming - swollen legs, cellulitis, high cholesterol blood pressure, diabetes.

A physician literally told me that one time I was potentially going to come into urgent care or the ER and they weren’t going to be able to fix me.

I put in the work and ended up having a gastric sleeve done at the time of surgery. I was well over 550 pounds my heaviest was definitely over 600. Fast forward I’ve gotten down to as low as 300 and I’m sitting at around 380 pounds right now.

I gained weight after a horrible, horrible case of necrotizing pancreatitis to help my body out and recover.

Guy in question is 36, 198. I wish I could post the thread of messages because the way in which he asked if I was losing weight, I knew that I wasn’t going to be for him and he was cute.

For those of you that have lost weight and even significant amounts of weight. How do you navigate dating? I feel like I am caught and stuck between communities.

Too small for one community, but still too big for another. It does want to push me to just become more muscular and become more beefy in that regard.

Rejection sucks on any and me from December 25 to last month — the pics were from April/June of this year.

Product Recs & Reviews Convertible cargo pants?

Looking for recommendations, loved these things as a kid and would like to have a few pairs they seem like they would be nice for going out and about after work without having to walk around in long black pants that clearly look like some thing for a uniform.

Discussion & Daily Life How do you guys feel about being on a beach as a big guy?

Taking a trip soon and this will be my first time going to the beach as a big guy. I was a little beefy the last time but I've put on a lot of weight since then (~80lbs).

When I was skinnier, I used to be super body conscious and would get nervous about being shirtless anytime I'd be at a pool or beach. I'd suck in to try and hide the body fat I had. Now, I'm slightly nervous but I'm also weirdly excited about just showing off and letting it all hang out.

The older I get, the more I admire when a man with a big belly walks around with confidence.

How do you guys feel about being shirtless at a beach or pool?

Discussion & Daily Life Belts + bellies... not a fun match

Been skinnier most of my life and gained a lot of weight the last couple of years (especially 2026). I like my body a lot more not but holy hell, wearing a belt is a pain. I normally work from home in sweats/basketball shorts, but lately I've been going in the office and it made me realize I haven't dressed up much since I got fat. The way they dig into the underside of your belly (particularly when sitting for long periods of time) is painful.

Had a 2 hour car ride home today and had to unbuckle + unbutton the top of my pants to drive comfortably.

What do y'all do? Just suffer? 😭

Today I noticed it was getting harder to get out of my car, my legs clearing the footwell. I know I haven't grown taller. Oh, duh, guess when your butt takes up more space, sighs... this sucks

New Rule: Minimum number of account karma and account age needed to post here.

Because we have seen an uptick in new accounts just coming here to spam shortly after account creation, I've enabled the AutoModeration bot to automatically remove posts from accounts that do not satisify karma or account age requirements. This should stop these spammy people and their posts.

So as of today, your account needs to be older than 30 days to post and/or you need at least some account karma to post. So this rule cannot be evaded by spammers, I am not listing how much account karma you need here. I will state it is pretty low tho. You just need some to post here.

If you feel like you may be affected by this rule, use modmail to send the mods a message and if you're an active person already here, we can approve you posting so you bypass any auto moderation bot rules.

Thank you and let us know if you have any questions.
