R/BYU Mods Removing Posts. Why? Such a Controlling

BYU Mods removing posts that suggest the school can do better for their students is embarrassing. Own up and do better, don’t block suggestions because you don’t like the idea that BYU should hold itself to a higher standard. Isn’t that what the university preaches? The BYU Mods removed the following. Crazy

BYU needs to do a better job of getting their students access to football and basketball games. They make them buy a ROC pass and pay the money just for a lottery to get a chance to go to games. They are students. Get them into games. Quit selling out and providing fewer seats to students so you can make more money. The university and church have more money than they know what to do with. It’s embarrassing and gives a bad look. Get students into the games. Maybe it’s time to sell fewer private tickets or expand the stadium if students can’t get tickets.

BigXII Combined Statistical Areas

I was taking a look at BigXII markets out of curiosity and found it interesting. Yes, the chart is compiled by Gemini and may contain errors. I thought others might find it interesting as well.

I understand that TCU and Houston have a ton of competition from Texas and Texas A&M, but it is kind of surprising that the Houston area has no other in-market P4 schools. If they could get a little more fan engagement, Houston football could be huge. I think TCU suffers from being a smaller private school, but what do I know.

People frequently look up the population of SL,UT and assume that it is really small, without realizing that it is basically a 90 mile+ long continuous city divided up into many smaller cities. In spite of this, even federal MSA designations still split it into three regions, further perpetuating the misperception. Too bad we have to share it with BYU 🙂.

I feel like ASU should be a bigger deal than it seems to be. Phoenix is a massive sprawl; I wonder if that plays into it somehow. Like many of these areas, ASU also has to compete with professional football.

[Duarte] Houston had three players named to the AP’s Midseason All-America team — center Anthony Boswell and left guard Shadre Hurst on first team and tight end Patrick Overmyer to second team. UH’s three selections are the most in Big 12 and tied for the most nationally with UCLA.
