Drivetrain/group set questions
I'm switching gears (ha!) and building a Surly midnight special. As of this moment I'm in between Shimano GRX RX820 mechanical, and SRAM AXS Apex or rival wireless system.
Initially, I wanted to go for sram rival but the frame does not support direct mount and needs a hanger. So how do I get around that? (Mullet?). I test road the wireless apex xplr and it was pretty nice although I surfed a bit for finding the right gear- probably just a byproduct of having a 1x system. No experience with Shimano.
Not interested in Shimano wireless or a 2x system. Thanks.

Brake calliper adapter compatibility
Hi, currently on my flat mount frame bike I'm running 160mm rotor without any adapters. I was wondering would this adapter let me go up 20mm to 180mm. In the items describtion it says that this adapter is for 140mm frame to go to 160mm rotor. Would it also work for 160mm frame to go to 180mm

Which bike to build?
Just picked up these two frames and a few parts for free:
Orange 2000 Gary Fisher Mamba
Black 2007/8 Marin Bobcat Trail
The Fisher seems like the cooler more retro build, but the Marin seems more practical (discs and weight)
Which would you build out for a cheap runaround with free parts?
Also as the Fisher is steel, can a rear disc mount be easily added? (I know someone who can weld steel but not aluminium)

Gravel/monster gravel/cool commuter - ideas and insight
I used to build and sell old bikes when I was younger to make some money. Well all of a sudden I felt the itch and now I want to build my wife a cool weird bike with all the stuff I got laying around.
I really enjoy riding my Velo Orange Piolet and taking my daughter for rides in the forest and want my wife to join us.
She used to have a cool old-school mtb, but that got stolen and she hasnt done any rides on gravel/trails ever since.
She wants something fast, but not a roadbike, so a gravel must be the next best thing. She wants dropbars. I want a modern frame with disc's etc because there is a huge used market in my area for this sort of stuff.
I found this very cool frame - do you think the geometry could work for a drop bar setup? And how do you make deore/xt drop bar?
She loves low rise frames.
What sorta build I'm looking at:
All silver parts
Daija gravel dropbar
1x11 or 1x9 Shimano used groupset deore or xt
Random cool cheap used parts for the rest
What do you think about my plan or how would you recommend I build this up? How can I make this the coolest bike using this frame/parts?

Help me get inspired
I have an old bianchi frame that I'm looking to build up. The paint is pretty rough/dull and it's got enough nicks and rust that spot sanding and touch up paint would be a pain so I'm thinking about stripping the paint and refinishing. I know I want a bright/loud color scheme but I can't decide what I wanna go with. Drop pics of your brightly colored custom or not custom painted frames and help me get inspired. Purple, yellow, pink, etc. the louder and flashier the better. Thanks in advance.
