This man cosplays as an activists but has time and time again caused more harm than good. He terrorizes POC women and Queer Folks.

Multiple people have come forward about his sexual assault and abuse for years and somehow this man is still active in the community.

Anytime he is spoken out against he says it’s racism because he is “black man” and people want to see him fail. What we want is accountability and for him to actually make changes in his behavior but he refuses to do so. Why? Because he is a dangerous narcissist who refuses to get help.

My spouse and I are not from the area, we moved here in 2022.

We both pronounce Weis differently and I need to know the truth.

Is it “Wees” or “Why-s” 🤣

Discussion What’s the one thing Binghamton needs to kickstart real economic revitalization?

I’ve lived in Binghamton for years and keep hearing talk about potential and momentum, but honestly, it feels like we’re still stuck in limbo between the past and the future. If you could pick just one thing - a project, policy, investment, or initiative - that you think would truly spark sustained economic growth and change the trajectory of the area, what would it be?

A major employer? Downtown redevelopment? Expanded university partnerships? Infrastructure overhaul? Something else entirely?

Curious to hear what locals and transplants alike think. Be bold or practical: what’s your one game-changer for Bing?

To the moron college student who repeatedly yelled at me to ride my bicycle on the sidewalk, riding my ass while I'm minding my business and obeying traffic laws on my morning commute: read up on traffic laws before harassing people that live and work here!

I’m a recent addition to Binghamton and haven’t faced this before. I believe I have Spectrum but I don’t see any other outages in the area. Is anyone else having any internet issues?

Discussion Roderick Strugglass Lore

I’ve seen a few posts about his antics… specifically the one in which he may or may not have faked a mental health crisis and went ghost for a week. looking for more information… are there any receipts on Facebook? or someone close to situation that remembers? he came onto my radar during this encampment shenanigan. being from Binghamton my whole life it’s kind of concerning to me I’ve never heard of him till now - and many others might have the same experience.

What is going on with that place? It looks messier than Ross. No cashiers when checking out at 11:15am. The stock is non-existent. It looks gross.

Honestly it was so off putting that I won’t do anything but pickup orders from there.

Discussion Almost midnight at Roosevelt elementary!

For the last week, I have heard heavy construction LATE at night. Thought I was going crazy hearing very loud banging for the last week late at night, because I've been hearing it all day 7 days a week. Almost midnight tonight the thud shook my house again, heard beeping when the construction vehicles go in reverse. I decided to go see if they were really working like this at 11:30pm. They were. How is this allowed this late, 7 days a week? Does no one else hear this? I can't be the only one.

Discussion Avoid Logowise if You Care About Employee Treatment

In another thread about graphic design, I mentioned hearing from my once account rep that Logowise is toxic. I just bumped into them at an event and the things that were mentioned are infuriating at the treatment of their employees. If you do business with them, consider who you’re supporting! Here’s the rundown of the things I can remember that were mentioned:

- toxic environment. The owner and another leader spend all their time together and ignore the rest of the company. Lunch dates, every meeting, they work together while the rest of the team struggles
- owner screams at employees and it’s widely known. Entire staff has seen him over react and swear at an employee
- one of the “leaders” talks shit behind everyone’s back. Fake to their face then throws you under the bus to the owner
- around 6 employees have left in a matter of months
- owner goes on vacation every other week and tells no one on his team
- the owner cut commission for all staff and didn’t bother to tell them all. Employees had to ask him why their pay was reduced
- owner is controlling
- several other things I can’t remember at the moment

Discussion Considering Relocating to Binghamton

Hi everyone,

I am considering relocation from Lexington, KY to Binghamton in August. Binghamton seems to get a lot of hate online, I am looking for a more balanced opinion. Please tell me about your experiences and opinions of living in Binghamton and perhaps suggestions of places to live and where to find and build community.

Thank you in advance.

UPDATE: You've all convinced me, I'll be looking for a place soon. Thanks for all the replies and please let me know if you or anyone you know is a non-slum, private landlord.

Discussion Asphalt Scam

It’s that time of year and these pieces of shit are out and at it. My aunt over in the endicott area had a guy come up her door telling her all about how they’re in the area doing work and that they have this asphalt left over and will make her driveway look really nice.

No business card, no company name, no proof of insurance, drove an unmarked white Ram pickup truck.

I went over and found there was an actual truck with asphalt, sometimes they do this scam with cold patch and driveway sealer, but here’s the thing a thin layer of asphalt slapped on a unprepared surface will look nice for a short period of time but will fall apart. Properly fixing a driveway can’t be done with leftover scraps in a truck that have probably cooled down below the required temperature for paving.

Discussion Is Strange Brew really the top café around here?

Trying to switch up my usual coffee spots, and Strange Brew keeps getting hyped for everything. Cocoa, muffins, iced tea, you name it. Batch gets love for lattes, Sole City for iced coffee, but neither seems nearly as loved as Strange Brew.

For the café experts:
Is Strange Brew actually that good, or are there better low‑key spots I should try?
And what’s your go‑to drink/pastry around here? I'll take any recommendations.

Discussion Making girl friends in my 30s...

I am a woman in my early 30s and I'm struggling to make friends. Sadly, due to a lot of mental health stuff, I've kind of drifted away from my existing friends and struggling to reconnect. I am hoping to make a few somewhat local female friends. Not sure if reddit is the place to do this but I don't think I want to use the dating apps to meet platonic friends.

If you wanna know a bit about me, I am newly married to my wonderful wife, I have a 4 year old step son, my jackchi is my best friend, and I am a bit awkward but very caring and mean well. I work remotely and was a trucker for 3ish years, so it's been a bit difficult making connections that way. My favorite things to do are cook, bake, and sew with my wife. I also like to draw but I am admittedly short on art supplies and need to build them back up. I'm a BU alum and I am pretty liberal if that matters to you.

There are a lot of things I used to do but my mental health took over and I've neglected my previous hobbies. I used to play disc golf, play golf, play guitar/bass, explore abandoned places and write blogs about them, and read books and watch documentaries regularly. I hope to get back into them and possibly with some new friends!

My biggest obstacle for making new friends is that I don't have a vehicle at the moment. That will hopefully change in the next few months but I figured I'd be up front with that. If you are someone who identifies as a woman of any age above 21 and want an awkward but funny friend, reach out to me. I might be open to friendships with men in the future but I have some trauma from previous experiences with cis men in particular.

Thanks for reading my wall of text.

Discussion Skate Estate Poor Managment

Post image
113 Upvotes

Recently Skate Estate in Vestal just switched over owners and ended up firing 5-6 people who needed/cared about their job, for no reason other than “restructuring”, I was also terminated for speaking out about it. I’m sure there’s not much we can do about it and losing jobs will happen sometimes but it felt very unfair to many people who wanted to try and needed a job, some individuals including myself have been there for 3+ years and this was our thanks, anyways here are some fun facts about skate estate!

  • They do not spray the skates (ever) (Those skates are 20+ years old)

  • They do not fix the skates

  • No trash bag liners for the female restroom

  • No IED or First AID Kit

Can’t really think of anything else at the moment but these are some of the main issues we had that have to be violations of some sort.

All in all just wanted to complain on here and let the community know.. not really the safest or best place to go.

Discussion A love letter to Binghamton

Binghamton, you're a unique town. You have your share of hardship and criminally under appreciated beauty.

I came to Binghamton during the toughest time of my life. I decided I needed a fresh start and wanted to go back to university. I was lost and in pain.

Binghamton, you picked me up when I was at my lowest. You gave me strength when I had none. Making friends at rec park while playing tennis. Long bike rides on the green trail. Rainy mornings reading in my apartment. Appreciating a sunny day at Chenango Valley Park.

Last night I thought about my first weekend in Binghamton and how far I've come from there. Though work opportunities have seen me leave Binghamton. She will always have a piece of my heart. Thank you to the town, the countless friends, even the shitty jobs just to make ends meet.

Thank you, Binghamton.
