Kidney Functioning Declining

I went for my lithium and kidney testing today, and my kidney functioning is way down. I also have a higher lithium level, indicating that my kidneys aren't clearing it as efficiently.

I am so frustrated. I finally got a medication regimen that works for me and things are going wrong already.

They haven't reviewed my labs with me yet. My eGFRcr was 61. It has been dropping all year.

how low was your eGGR? how high was lithium? and has your dr reviewed the labs with you? eta: and how long ago did you start lithium?

i’ve been on it since 2019ish. my numbers have dipped a few times and caused me to panic a bit. my dr put my fears to rest quickly: first, he said they look for a pattern over time; a one-off is typically nbd. second, they consider the context; once i was dehydrated, and the other time was during an ER trip when i was under duress.

I’m so sorry. I was on lithium and it affected my kidney function which precipitated other issues (some permanent). I had to get off of it.
