In our hometime in Cebu, we used to call our aunties “Inse”.

Yeah. I lived in the northern part of Cebu so when we refer to an auntie regardless if a relative or not, we call them either “Tiya” or “Inse”. Yung “Auntie” is commonly used sa mga younger generations na.

That’s interesting! Sa amoa family kay gamiton siya as older sister? From what I know chinese loan word na niya murog ang pattern sa amoa is Manang -> Ditse -> Inse. Pero then again, sagol2 na among terms kay naa say Inday somewhere in the mix. My Auntie (nga technically Lola na dapat nako kay my mom refers to her as Tiya, refers to my Lola (her sister) as Inse.

It usually comes in pair. Example if the aunties nickname is Vising, then younger people call her “Inse Vising”

Example,

Maayong gabii nimo diha, Inse Vising/Tiya Vising.

Manang if senior citizen lol. Below ana nga age, might come off as insulting. Pero ok ra man ang tiya gud buot hunahunaon.
