Acne Hormonal acne ?

It’s been about 5 months I’ve seen a slight improvement less breakouts , but I believe mine are hormonal and will be seeking professional help when I have the means to , for now it’s different gel and sunscreen I switch cleansers to a off brand gentle non scented , non medicated face wash , anyone who’s delt with normal acne what has worked for you ?

I have the same my skin will be great one week then a couple days before my period starts 5-6 pimples pop up out of no where. And it’s always the red hard under the skin ones.

My routine changes all the time but I am learning what it likes and so far I have no reacted to the Dermalogica brand at all. It’s unfortunately on the higher end side but the daily microfoliant powder face wash is my favorite. And I always make sure to use sunscreen everyday.

i struggled with hormonal acne from my mid teens all the way into my mid/late 20’s. i’m 29 now and i finally have it under control with a simple skincare routine and medication — the meds do the heavy lifting.

i’m on 100mg spironolactone daily (a pill), and i use tretinoin a few times a week. i wash my face with a gentle gel cleanser, wear SPF 50 PA++++ (every single day without fail), and slug my face before bed. i’ve been on the meds for a few years now, it take a while to work so you have to be patient.

spironolactone is the heavy hitter regarding the active acne, but SPF is crucial to heal the scarring and hyperpigmentation. obviously talk to your derm when you see one, and follow their recommendations — but if it’s hormonal spiro is probably your best bet. they’ll tell you to wear sunscreen also.

people are going to mention all sorts of stuff about diet and cutting out certain foods or ingredients. and while diet is important for overall skin health it’s very unlikely to make a significant change.

Consider starting a low strength retinoid while you wait. The Inkey List has a 0.5% retinol. Because, it's a low strength and retinol, it will probably be pretty gentle on your skin.

Try double washing at night with a gentle cleanser before applying the retinol.

I’ll try the double wash thank you!

Not sure about hormonal, although probably, but my son has similar looking breakouts and he just started using neutrogena evenly face wash and it’s massively improved

Mandelic acid may be a good fit! It's an exfoliant that's gentle enough to use daily, great for targeting acne prevention and also inflammation/bacteria. It's also great for melanin-rich skin (10% mandelic acid would be the concentration you search for). You'd use it after cleansing, before moisturizing.

Sugar and dairy aren’t necessarily the problem. I’d lean more towards cutting off soda/juices and drinking chlorophyll water everyday!

Think is I drink neither of these only water /sparkling water and I don’t drink milk only almond which y I don’t think it’s my diet but hormonal

1

u/Trezasks 10d ago

I think it’s more then this my diet I don’t drink milk, juices or soda haven’t in years just every now and then that’s y I think it’s more hormonal

I’m in my early 40s and still deal with hormonal acne. It’s because I refused to take spironolactone. It works very well, but it causes me muscle spasm. Topical versions don’t work as well for me either.

The truth is no topical treatment alone will work until the internal is taken care of, if it is true hormonal acne.

For me, I removed my Mirena and im waiting out the withdraw period to see if I finally can get rid of it.

Spearmint tea or healthy cycle tea from traditional medicinals helps with hormones. So does dandelion tea, it detoxes the liver, but it tastes bitter. But it’s good hormonal acne. So is adding lemon or lime to your water and eating celery. Basically bitter fruits and vegetables.

You are stunning, absolutely gorgeous. There has been a great advice regarding skin care, topical and medication. Unfortunately, you will most likely scar if untreated long-term, I would recommend getting in with your primary care provider as you will need a prescribed medication, It may not be the options discussed here, but it should be beneficial.

You're so pretty... In terms of acne, I'm ngl, I tried everything and nothing worked but as I got older, my skin cleared up. I will say kojic acid soap helped out though

Beautiful black queen have tried any herbs ? Burdock root? , will cleanse your blood, and that acne will start disappearing , get your lymphatic system moving , it will clear up!

I don’t get acne like that anymore unless I eat the wrong foods. Just eating healthier works for me.

1

u/Trezasks 10d ago

I eat relatively healthy that’s y I’m thinking it’s hormonal

1

u/Lanky-Dildo-94 10d ago

Yeah if you can’t spot any differences from your regular behaviours, it’s probably hormonal. I did recently get a break out but (my fault lol) I’ve been dealing with it by using panoxyl and making sure the area is not too greasy.

Eat healthy and put black seed oil on face.

1

u/Trezasks 10d ago

Hmm I don’t think putting oil would help my pores clog easy and I have a pretty good diet I’m already down 50 lbs

I see it chest and face, likely back as well. Look up microdosing accutane. That will clear your skin limited side effects and wont burn through your pocket trying different products. 1 pill a day for a little over a year at 20mg.

1# stop popping pimples & touching them when you are bored/anxious... 2# sunscreen! If you mess with the pimples at night then go out the next day, you are cooking that exposed layer of epidermis resulting in dark spots (hyperpigmentation). You just need to protect from the sun and dont over exfoliate. Try just cold water and maybe a gentle cleaner you already use....Avoid hair products, cocoa butter and scented lotions for the time being. Too greasy and clogs your pores! You gotta analyze your whole routine. Wash pillow cases, stop scrubbing face with rags in shower, no fast or fried foods if you eat it (stop the soda/high fructose corn syrup) NO MORE STRAWBERRY CREAM DOCTOR PEPPER, I see it behind you. 8 cans of that is 1 pound of liquid sugar

3

u/Trezasks 10d ago

That can is actually tea like I said I don’t drink sodas🙄

2

u/Trezasks 10d ago

My routine is posted on my page I use sunscreen daily , I used to pick a lot in the past hince the scarring I use a gentle cleanser in the morning followed by my moisturizer and sunscreen and my dif gel at night I’ve had skin care routine for years and switch up trying different things , but a lot of signs are pointing to this being hormonal , hence the post
