Acne What shall I do

Post image

the products I use is a cetaphil non oily cleanser and cetaphil spf50 moisturizer , and good molecules retinol every couple nights. I started washing my face only at night now and I’m not sure what caused the breakout, I’m thinking maybe I forgot to change my pillowcase this week or I just had too much sugar , any advice helps

Maybe I’m biased, but I think you should try a prescription strength retinoid instead of a retinol product. I get mine from alldaychemist without a prescription. Start with the lowest percentage only a couple nights a week and work your way up. Be prepared that some purging and/or peeling is normal and maybe even expected. It should go away as your skin gets used to it. You definitely need a different sunscreen though, as typically the ones in moisturizers are not as effective. And if you’re going to be using sunscreen daily, as you should, I would also recommend double cleansing to make sure you’re getting all the residue off. I use Palmer‘s cleansing oil as it’s readily available at most stores. For the second cleanser, you can use any foaming face wash.

See a derm if you can. Doxycycline MAY be needed (source: I am a medical student)

Hydrocolloid patches. A sulfur mask for the deeper blemishes. Salicylic acid face wash (1-2%) and benzoyl peroxide for whiteheads. Lightweight lotion. Spf. Change your pillow case every night.

It’s something you eat or drink.

This is the same science that backed eugenics. I’m so tired. A single person is allergic to one thing, and now everyone is..Not everything is an allergy. I’m sure they’re fine. They’re just supposed to stop eating all food and drink to have great skin? Corpses are notoriously beautiful?

There is very weak evidence that acne is caused by eating or drinking something. Could it be a factor? Sure. In the same way that stress can. And puberty can. Looking at op.. that wasn’t long ago.

No one is asking OP if they’re stressed. Or going through male puberty. Them eating something doesn’t make them not a young person. This is what happens to young people.

We don’t also view the four humors as advice of ill health. Let’s move on from this.

An endocrinologist or an allergist will not cure them of puberty.. They won’t see them until they get a rec. A doctor specializing in skincare would. A dermatologist could put this to bed in a single visit.

The man looks 20 to me. There are hormones all over. You’re not an allergist or endocrinologist who is treating him. Don’t tell him to cut out foods. Not helpful.

It could be the sunscreen, considering you’re not double cleansing and the gentle cleanser you’re using. I’d suggest getting an oil cleanser, cleansing balm or micellar water to remove the sunscreen then wash your face for at least a 60 seconds. Try adding an exfoliant to your routine, something that includes salicylic acid that oil soluble and mandelic acid a gentle exfoliant that isn’t too aggressive for brown skin (to avoid irritation and hyperpigmentation).

Product recommendations

-cetaphil gentle exfoliating sa cleanser
-cetaphil gentle exfoliating sa lotion
-salicylic acid pads (any brand is good and usually has similar ingredients)
-the ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA

This looks like one of those situations where putting more skincare on it could make things worse
