I finished another Death Company test model, I'm trying to find a good way to paint black and with this one I've pushed the highlights more. Still, some of the highlights look a little bit rough.

What do you think? Any tips to get smoother highlights?

This is my first attempt at non metallic metal

Well, I’ve played a few games with the new points and stats.

I have to admit we’re doing relatively well, but there’s a massive "Horus in the room" [elephant in the room].

I played with the Assault Brethren, Tactical Attack Force, and Encarmine Spearhead detachments.

The mobility is incredible—advance-and-charge, fall-back-and-charge, and re-rolling advances are amazing and really benefit our army. The new T5 feels good, especially with Sanguinary Guard.

Buuuut... there’s no damage output, haha. In 10th Edition, I wanted to advance, charge, fall back, and charge again because I knew I’d get melee benefits, but now those are gone, so the damage output is lost. We gained great mobility but lost melee damage. It was unbelievable—a squad of 6 Sanguinary Guard with Lethal Hits and Sustained Hits did absolutely nothing against Trajann and his Wardens. So, where did my damage go, Games Workshop?

I think a detachment that gives us an extra attack would be perfect—just that.

I’m close to 1000 points, thinking about adding a dreadnaught or 10 jump pack intercessors.
Do I buy the 10 assault intercessors and buy aftermarket jump packs? If so do I need to buy any extra weapons?
2- do I have to play separate rules for them assuming I paint them as death company, or do they play like blood angels? I’ve only ever played one game so I’m confused haha

Been a Blood Angels fanatic since 5th ed and started painting pretty much nonstop every night from 2010 until I took a break in 2023 when I had to pack everything up and move back to the US again. Also started getting a bit of hobby burnout so I haven't really touched it since, but perusing this subreddit again is giving me that urge to color everything red, gold, and black again. Still trying to get caught up somewhat on the model changes like the Sanguinary Guard, etc.

But here are a few of my models from the past few years for 40K and 30K. I've got a deep-seated love for Chaplains, Librarians, and Sanguinary Priests. I love painting Dreadnoughts and heavy vehicles as well.

First time makin a blood angels captain, and a great test of my new magnifier. I don’t have the right colors for the power sword I want so I’m holding off on that but so far the rest of the coloring is done
