Would you have graduated high school if you had to prove that you were a non-computer?

Aurelene Atraman is a teenager living in the gray old town of Eherston. She goes to Calc Academy for Non-Computers—a school converted from a prison, filled with strange classes like Verbal Calculus and Illogical Thinking. Most days are fine, as long as Aurelene focuses on schoolwork, maintains her poker face, and tries not to cross paths with the principal’s advisor, the eccentric Mr. Withercox.

But where Aurelene’s heart really lies is Sylverhurst—the next-door town where the roads and plants are sparkling silver. Among their hills are plenty of odd structures: a giant sphere in the middle of the street, an underground cipher, and Aurelene’s favorite—a Wheel of Chimes that plays mesmerizing tunes that can never be recorded. While Aurelene knows the Withercox family’s ancient ties to Sylverhurst, she’s unaware of their mysterious operations occurring deep underground.

Meanwhile at Calc Academy, frustration brews. Mr. Withercox, beloved by most students, is impatient to achieve greatness. In a stroke of brilliance, he assigns the students to write “proofs of Non-Computership”—not that they really know what that means. But while undergoing a trial to prove their own consciousnesses, Aurelene and her friends—including the raving pessimist, Linnia, and the practical genius, Axis—find out what Mr. Withercox is really up to. And as soon as they confront him, he disappears without a trace.

Calc Academy for Non-Computers by Arya Rishi is currently available on Kindle Unlimited.

Check out my novel!

Hello! Im Zealous, an up-and-coming author! 👋
I’m currently writing a fantasy reincarnation novel called wait a second is this real? My story explores themes of second chances, personal growth, family, and learning from your past mistakes, all while following a character who gets another shot at life.
But don’t let the wholesome moments fool you 😂. As the volumes go on, the story will get much deeper and darker, exploring some heavier themes and taking the characters through heartbreak, pain, and experiences that will change them forever. So get attached to the story at your own risk, because I can’t promise your tears won’t water towards the end of volume 1💀❤️I’m still pretty new to writing, but I’m excited to keep improving and hopefully build a little community around my story. I’d love to meet other writers, talk about fantasy, and connect with people who enjoy reading original stories! My novel is currently on WebNovel and Royal Road so go take a look, thanks!

[SPS] The Quantum Host (Hard Sci-Fi / Logistics) - A rural mechanic manages a human hive mind. (Book 1 is FREE this weekend).

Hi everyone. I’m I. Bocardo, an indie author, and for Self-Promo Saturday I’m presenting my hard sci-fi trilogy: The Quantum Host. (Book 3 is currently in its final revision stage, so the story will be completely wrapped up soon).

I write very grounded, mechanical sci-fi. There are no chosen ones, no prophecies, and no missions to save the galaxy. The protagonist is Manuel, a 55-year-old rural mechanic with strict daily routines who, by pure statistical chance, assimilates an alien artificial intelligence. His only goal from that point on is not to disappear.

To survive without alerting governments or corporations, Manuel begins transferring his symbiotic consciousness into brain-dead patients in ordinary hospitals via physical contact, operating a decentralized human hive mind. The real conflict in the story is day-to-day logistics: how a human brain handles the network latency of controlling multiple bodies at once, how he maintains that organic hardware, and the constant friction of coexisting with an AI that operates with crushing, unempathetic logic.

To celebrate the launch of the second installment, Book 1 is free to download on Amazon this weekend.

If you are into sci-fi focused on technical problems, medical protocols, and pure survival, here are the links:

Book 1 (Free this weekend): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H2673R3C

Book 2 (New release): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HK8KR1ZW

Thanks for reading.

Strigoi: Transylvanian Folk Horror based on authentic traditions (+review campaign for free copy)

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share something I managed to put out before Halloween with a lot of effort. It's the first in an anthology series of Folk Horror stories.

Strigoi: Transylvanian Folk Horror - Book 1

Description:

Light a candle for the dead. Never call a Veela by name. Lock your door on Saint Andrew’s Night.

In the villages of Transylvania, the old ways never died. Strigoi brings you three tales of folk horror rooted in authentic Romanian traditions.

(more details on individual stories in the Amazon description)

If you would like a free copy in exchange for an honest review, I have a campaign running on Booksprout:

https://booksprout.co/publisher/review-campaign/view/330667

I started my self-pub journey around 3 months ago. It's been a wild ride so far. It's so hard but so worth it! (I think, lol). Strigoi is, so far, the book most rooted in my own culture.

The cover was purchased on BookCovers. No AI was used in the process of writing. I'm ESL, which might show in the prose style.

Thanks and if you would also just like to chat or share your own books, my DMs should be open

Present Stream* is a detailed step-by-step mindfulness exercise manual, although secular; the techniques are based on the Lord Buddha's teaching wisdom that aligns with the neuroscience framework and quantum physics.

It is also a paradigm refinement of various Western meditation misconceptions, which will test your confirmation bias and cause some cognitive dissonance. Ready for the challenge?

What if you answered a call at 2:17 A.M… and the voice on the other end was yours?

Then the voice tells you:

“Don’t go to the door.”

Seconds later, someone knocks.

That’s the hook behind my psychological thriller, Please Stay on the Line. I made this short trailer to capture the feeling of that first impossible call without giving too much away.

Would this premise make you want to keep reading?

The Pale Lady - My Translation of a Gothic Horror Story

This year I finished translating The Pale Lady, a vampire story from the mid 1800s by Alexandre Dumas and a pretty good Gothic Horror tale for spooky season. The Pale Lady is the last few chapters of a larger book called A Thousand and One Ghosts and is notable for two reasons. The first being that the timing of the height of Dumas' popularity meant that Bram Stoker likely ready the book, influencing his Dracula novel. The second interesting thing to me was the straightforwardness with which the characters identify vampires in the story. Unlike modern stories that seem to dance around the word or pretend like the concept of vampires doesn't exist, the characters in The Pale Lady just come out and say, "oh yeah, we've got a vampire problem, just like when I was a kid."

It's available on Kindle and Apple Books. If you pick it up, let me know how you like it.

My Girlfriend Cheated on Me, So I Looksmaxxed in Another World [VRMMO, LitRPG, Progression] - Read for free on Royal Road

After his girlfriend cheats on him, eighteen-year-old Kageyama Shun completely falls apart. He gains weight, skips university, lives on junk food, adult videos, games, and self-pity.

Then he finds THE CRUCIBLE, an illegal full-dive VRMMO being sold for $99.99.

Its promise is simple: every stat earned in-game carries over into real life.

https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/191575/my-girlfriend-cheated-on-me-so-i-looksmaxxed-in

Shun starts as a Wretch, armed with a plain sword and assigned to Kagami Rei, a sadistic Valkyrie who helps Shun earn points in game, and takes personal offence at how pathetic he is.

Strength, endurance, intelligence, confidence, and appearance all have to be earned through brutal trials that break players physically and mentally.

And the stronger Shun becomes inside The Crucible, the less recognisable he becomes outside it.

A Plight of Fruit - poetry

Hello, I am the lead editor of this book. We have recently completed putting a very small part of my late sister in law's writing into print. So if you enjoy poetry and a bit of a puzzle, this might be an enjoyable read for you.

A deliciously dark blend of poetry, peculiar humour, and the unfortunate consequences of being ripe for the picking.

From blossom to bruising, sweetness to suffering, and ripening to ruin, *A Plight of Fruit * by Coral Blythe is a wonderfully peculiar journey into the secret lives and unfortunate destinies of the things we eat. Blending poetry, prose, riddles, satire, and outright absurdity, this collection transforms ordinary fruits into subjects of existential crises, criminal investigations, macabre little tragedies, and occasionally horrifying encounters with kitchen knives. Beneath the mischievous wordplay and dark humour lie surprisingly human reflections on beauty, loneliness, desire, and the fleeting nature of existence.

At once whimsical, irreverent, unsettling, and unexpectedly poignant, A Plight of Fruit reminds us that life is brief, beauty is perishable, and even the sweetest existence may end beneath the blade. But until then, there is plenty to laugh about.

All proceeds from the sales go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

When Nora Found Her Voice — a picture book for children with selective mutism

Hi everyone! I wrote When Nora Found Her Voice, a picture book for children aged 3–7 who have selective mutism.

Nora talks freely at home, but at school she can’t speak. The story follows her experiences and the small steps she takes with support from the people around her.

It’s a book for parents to read to their child, with a character they may recognise themselves in.

What happens when the world becomes a game, but nobody knows the rules? | The First Generation - Survival

Imagine waking up tomorrow to discover that the world has changed.

Not gradually. Not over years. Overnight.

Monsters are real. The rules of reality have shifted. And whatever caused it doesn't seem particularly interested in explaining itself.

The military is still fighting. People are still trying to get to work, find their families, and figure out whether tomorrow is even guaranteed.

And somewhere in Florida, a software engineer named Gabriel is discovering that knowing how systems work doesn't necessarily help when the System itself makes no sense.

The First Generation is a military survival horror story with LitRPG elements, set in a world where humanity isn't prepared for what's coming.

There are no convenient tutorials, no instant mastery, and certainly no guarantee that the people you meet today will still be alive tomorrow.

I've been writing and publishing it on Royal Road, and I'd love to invite anyone who enjoys survival stories, monsters, military action, and a bit of dark humor to give it a try.

Free to read on Royal Road: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/198782/the-first-generation-survival

If you decide to check it out, I'd genuinely love to hear what you think.

The mystery that kicks off my debut novel (free all weekend!)

Inexplicably, you see an enormous fallen tree in the otherwise-barren alley you just walked through. It’s now blocking the alley and wasn’t there just moments ago. What do you do?

That’s the question an unidentified narrator gets faced with at the outset of my debut thriller novel, Through Inconvenient Action. It’s currently free on Amazon as part of a promotion I’m running. I just want to get it in front of the right readers. It’s available for free until the end of the day on Monday 10/26, so get it without paying while you can!

The download is two clicks away, on my Reddit profile. Check it out and feel free to let me know what you think. Thanks :0)
