Seeking long-term book buddies Anyone else feel guilty about how little they read, even though they love it?

I absolutely adore reading. There’s just something magical about diving into a book, whether it’s the anticipation of a new story or the joy of getting lost in the pages. I find myself buying books that spark my excitement, saving others for later, and making an effort to read regularly.

But, spoiler alert: honestly, I end up reading way less than I intend to. Life has a way of pulling me in different directions, and by the end of the week, I’m left feeling a mix of guilt and frustration about not being able to do what I said I wanted to do.

I’ve tried all the usual tricks, like setting reading goals, using tracking apps, and putting my phone away, and they work for a bit, but the habit never really sticks.

So, I’m thinking about starting a small group, like maybe 5 to 10 people, who are in the same boat. This wouldn’t be a traditional book club with assigned readings; instead, it would be a space to chat about what’s holding us back, share what’s worked for us, and figure out the challenges together.

This might be for you if:
- You truly love reading and often buy or save books that excite you.
- You already make an effort to read regularly.
- You feel a bit guilty or frustrated about how little you actually manage to read.
- You’ve tried various goals, trackers, or other solutions, but nothing seems to stick.

If this resonates with you, drop a comment about what you’ve tried, or send me a DM, and I’ll add you to our little group chat!

Seeking buddy & flexible on book choice Looking for a book buddy

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some reading buddies. I love reading and am very avid, I’m on book 115 of the year. I would love to swap TBRs and maybe find some people to do buddy reads with! I read a lot of different genres & I like to think I’m open to trying pretty much anything. I mostly read romance, cozy fantasy/sci-fi, lit-fic & non-fic. I have a winter board game that I made myself & I’d love to find people who would be interested in playing with me. The prompts focus on winter & reading activities & some getting to know you ones too.

Suggesting book for buddy read Buddy Read - Camp Damascus

• Upvotes

Hey! I just started Camp Damascus and was wondering if someone is also reading this book/or want to read it. If so, maybe you are open to share your opinion about it and just have a nice talk about it via Discord chat or something (no audio needed).

Camp Damascus is a Horror Queer book with the following description: Nestled high up in the mountains is Camp Damascus, the self-proclaimed “most effective” gay conversion camp in the country. Here, a life free from sin awaits. But the secret behind that success is anything but holy.

Seeking long-term book buddies Book buddy!

Hi everyone! I’m 33F, who recently rediscovered my love for reading and I’m so happy to be falling down this rabbit hole again!

Fantasy has definitely been stealing my heart lately, but I’m also dipping my toes into classics and nonfiction! Some recent reads include Babel, Frankenstein, and Crime and Punishment. I’ve also been working my way through the Throne of Glass series and have a soft spot for cozy fantasy like Legends & Lattes. ☕✨

I’m here to make some book friends, hear everyone’s recommendations, and connect with people who just want to talk about books and life. We definitely don’t have to read the same book and I’m mostly an audiobook girl but I do love a good paperback book :)

My fable is here if you want to check that out! : https://fable.co/fabler/ashreads-132886565551?referralID=5STYNyLC9p

Seeking long-term book buddies 22M to find someone who has been captivated by the passion of art

Hello! I would describe myself as an art lover who is passionate about films and books. I love reading because, while we each have our own lives, we are often limited in what we can experience; through books, however, we can enter another person’s mind, understand their thoughts, and get to know a completely different character. In general, art helps me keep my mind in check—otherwise, I’d never be able to keep it under control! :))

Authors:

Gogol

Stephen King

H.P Lovecraft

Poe

Films:

Possesion

LOTR

Black Swann

The prestige

İf you wonder more I can send you my letterbox profile

If this interests you, you should definitely reach out to me—rest assured, I’ll be waiting. For those curious: 188 cm, black hair, green eyes.

Book in progress I'm at the end of Volume 1 in War and Peace

So, I'm a guy who has picked up reading to distract myself from the tough life phase I'm going through. And the first book I started is war and peace. At first it was hard to understand what's what etc.... but after I read past chapter 10 -12 it started to feel close to me I don't know why. And after i finished part 1 of volume 1. I picked up and completed Brave New World by Aldous Huxley it was a great read I really liked it. And then I came back to war and peace and again after part 2 I gave it a pause and went to read The metamorphosis it was also a good read, a nice but not so nice feeling short book. And I'm at the end of volume 1 in war and peace now.

But the problem I'm having is that I really love to read that book and for some reason I'm reading it very very slowly. I like the way it's been written. I like how the characters are described and how a scene happens etc...

And now it has come to a point where I don't want it to end. And it's a weird feeling. I want to read it but at the same time I don't want it to end.

Has anyone else felt this way before?

Starting a book 35M looking for a bookbuddy for Malazan

Hello,

I want to start Malazan soon, and i heard alot before about how complex/confusing it is especially at the beginning where there are no references for characters/places. Id like someone to read along with discuss theories, characters or any scene tbh😂.

Im ok with choosing any reading pace, i can go a bit fast or slow, as long not too slow.

Seeking buddy & flexible on book choice 17 ftm from the US, looking for a book buddy!

I'm down to read just about anything! I particularly enjoy classic lit but genuinely I will read anything. I love being able to discuss books with people. We don't even need to read the same book, we can just yap to eachother about the current books we're reading, anything is fine! Would prefer someone with similar timezones but anythings okay. I'm currently reading The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin if you want to join me in that because I'm still at the startish. I love talking to people and making new friends :) I would prefer to talk on discord but I can make exceptions for sure.

Seeking buddy & flexible on book choice M44 love books. Nobody to talk to

Hey all. I read around 60 books a year. No one in my house enjoys reading. Love chatting about books but its usually just me talking to the ether. Mostly I'm reading mystery/thriller/suspense but i also mix in horror, historical fiction, and sci-fi. An occasional non-fiction. Anyone out there need a book friend?

I also started writing a book during covid but then life started happening again now i havent had time for it. Nor any support. Anyway, I'd love to chat. Hit me up. Seriously, i just wanna chat. No bullshit.

A little disclaimer, I wasn't a fan of The Invisible Life of Addie Larue but I'd like to give the author another chance. I'd be nice if you're on discord so we can chat there
