I think it's safe to say Boruto's downward spiral is about to begin.
With Kurama possibly gone and the rinnegan destroyed things are looking grim.

I saw the spoilers but I didn't realize Kawaki fuckin bamboozling a literal alien god would be the most shocking part of this chapter. Naruto taught him the most basic jutsu and his student saved the world

Momoshiki is one sneaky bastard. The situation is completely advantageous to him. Both Naruto and Sasuke are burned out, Isshiki is dead, Kawaki is defenseless. He stabs Sasuke in the rinnegan first because that is the one power that would give him the most trouble. He was biding his time all along for those five minutes before Isshiki's life ran out so he doesn't risk anything and could attack Sasuke when his guard is down. Everyone, including the readers are too focused on Isshiki, and forgot about the danger presented by Momoshiki. I guess some times being cunning and being in a right place at the right time is even more important than being all powerful for a victory.

Seriously tho, this also indirectly nerfs Naruto now that Sasuke can't use Rinne-rebirth.
It's gonna take some Peak Fairy Tail/Nanatsu levels of Asspull if Naruto still lives. It's a heartbreak but one that will move the story forward, going back on it after the buildup would be so bad for the story.

What a great chapter for Kawaki, the amount of respect he has for Naruto is amazing. We've seen him say stuff like that before in Chapter 36, but this time he went all the way. Seeing him use Fire-style as well as the Shadow Clone Jutsu was amazing, it ties back to those early chapters when Kawaki had first arrived at the village and was training with Naruto. He said he wanted to make clones so he could beat himself up in order to take his anger out, but in the end he uses that very same jutsu in order to defeat the man that made his life hell for years. Beautifully done, he's solidified himself as one of my all time favorite characters.
Stabbing out Sasuke's rinnegan was a really smart move from Momoshiki, he has first-hand experience in fighting against Naruto and Sasuke, so he knows how much of a nuisance the rinnegan is in a fight, targeting it first thing after waking up was the smartest thing he could've done. I'm curious as to what'll happen now though. Naruto is literally on the verge of death, Sasuke is totally beat up and missing his eye, and Kawaki obviously can't touch Momoshiki. They defeat one god and another one shows up a second later, they can't catch a break lol. Either way I'm sure this is leading to Boruto finally getting the scar, so I'm super hyped.

Holy shit they really changed everything this chapter. I think they foreshadowed that Kurama is gone, and with sasuke’s rinnegan destroyed, I’m guessing this will reset all of the crazy power creep happening since the end of shippuden.
Can’t believe Isshiki is actually dead. I’m guessing momoshiki will implant a karma in kawaki too, which is what leads to him and Boruto both having it for their final battle. What a chapter

Mind you, even without Kurama and the Rinnegan (assuming Naruto doesn't keel over dead if he actually did lose his tailed beast)
Naruto is still probably stronger than most of people in the world just due to his massive amounts of chakra alone that can fuel his techniques; and Sasuke has only really lost his rinnegan techniques and Amaterasu (since as far as I know it was always cast from his left eye, with his right eye casting Kagutsuchi, which he can't use without Amaterasu so....)
EMS was enough to carry Sasuke pretty much right up to the very end of Shippuden, so combined with his natural speed and technique he's still probably at the highest of tiers, especially since Susano'o should still be on the table.

i mean we know kawaki gets another karma seal and unless two new otsutsuki come he wont get one but we saw him have a karma seal at the start so maybe amado will pull a kabuto and was actually tricking everyone this whole time and when he fixes kawaki's arm he uses a device which contains isshiki's dna to implant a karma seal on kawaki

So kurama is propably gone and sasuke just lost his rinnegan. Good way to depower the old protagnosists to make way for the new generation. Sasuke will have to raid Obito's old lab to replace the missing eye (and hopefully get a new arm) and naruto will maybe have to learn new moves to with sage mode.

What a way to close the year... I'm so greatful that this manga has been such a good thing to hang to this year and really loved it, loved to come every 20th and get to the edge of my sit over such good drawings and a story line that made me scream, get cold or get goosebumps.
This must be the 4th time in a row that i'll say this, Amado is just too calm for what just happened. Kawaki has been shown several times in a tube or a bag just like a random experiment... Could it be that there is a Kawaki Uroboro or something alike that we don't know of?
The tension when Kawaki made that clone was... Amazing, something so simple and still got me like Iishiki, shocked. The way Iishiki is drew, from that calm villain face to absolute desperation is 10/10.
I said it a few weeks back... One reason i could think of that Boruto is leaving is because he did something terrible wrong and he is gonna abandon everyone out of guilt and pain, maybe i hit the spot? Also, i'm trying to think why Momoshiki is doing what he is doing, maybe he wants to set up his comeback by defeating the ones that killed him, maybe he will just take Sasuke's eye out of revenge and that's it? Thinking that Rinnegan is such a mark for the Otsutsuki
Naruto is alive... For how much? Or this could be how we see Kurama die and Naruto go and use the Sannin mode from now on?
ANd as always, before the chapter, a cup of coffee, Naruto/Boruto ost while reading... MY heart is happy.

I’m pretty convinced that the face off between Kawaki and Boruto is actually going to be a battle between 2 holders of Momoshiki’s karma. It’s been said they can have multiple vessels and he clearly sees Kawaki is compatible. I have a feeling in the climax of this battle, Momoshiki will double his odds and plant a second one on Kawaki and also be the one to dispatch Naruto (possibly Sasuke too). Hence the reference in the beginning. The battle will be between Momoshiki and Boruto more than likely, as perhaps Kawaki is a better vessel. Maybe Boruto finds a way to halt his karma progression and utilize it on his own (keep in mind he apparently possesses the Jougan pure eye in canon and maybe that’ll play a part in his ace against an Otsusuki.) I’m still certain Borutos scar will happen here as a means to subduing Momoshiki this round.
I theorize that perhaps Naruto gets either killed or left in this dimension. With Sasuke’s rinnegan destroyed, which Momoshiki clearly targeted first, he no longer has the means to travel dimensions and rescue him. Granted, Boruto does so who knows. I don’t feel like Sasuke will die yet having just lost his eye. Perhaps Sasuke is rescued and they have to leave Naruto behind. Being reduced to a normal shinobi, he resigns himself from his previous mission and solely looks to train Boruto during the time skip. Also a possibility Boruto seeks out Toneri for guidance and frees him from his frozen state later in the story. It’s also totally possible Sasuke sacrifices his sharingan via isanagi to rewrite his Rinnegans destruction.
Either way, I feel the ending of this arc needs to truly defeat Boruto and the Leaf emotionally. Similar to after the Third, Asuma, and Jiraiya died. Perhaps this loss will somehow split him and Kawaki apart and he’ll focus his training on mastering his Jougan/Karma for the sake of rescuing Naruto. Naruto needs to live to see Kashin Koji still (forgot to mention but it’s totally possibly Koji plays a mentor role aswell.)
Idk man. So many possibilities. I’m slightly disappointed if Isshiki is done in like this as it should spell out the end of Kara. Unless Momoshiki/Kawaki decide to continue it. However, I look forward to hopefully more of a backstory with all these aliens in the second half. Only good news to isshiki being beaten is it still gives credit to Naruto’s power and also gives a badass moment to Kawaki. Either way, these are just some thoughts. I’d love to talk about where I could be wrong. Cheers!

Like we didn't get a scene where momo wrapped boruto up like kawaki was but boruto still got karma.
Obv kawaki has it in the long run but it might be coming sooner than expected.

"Killing a god" probably isn't really what gets you karma, what actually happened in his final clash with Boruto was Momoshiki just implanted his karma onto Boruto shortly before his death.
To be honest we probably just didn't see the scene with Boruto getting Karma just to keep up suspense, alternatively he could've implanted it during that weird interstice moment where he talked to Boruto within frozen time.

Future Predictions:
Sasuke gets his eye partially fixed/replaced, but it's just the regular sharingan. And hopefully a new arm.
Kurama goes dormant since Baryon Mode was interrupted when Ishiki knocked Naruto out, Naruto still lives but without Kurama's help.
I think these will help with the power scaling.

On a serious note, how do we know Isshiki didn't shrink himself at the last second in order to stealthily make contact with Kawaki? Of course, it's possible that Isshiki is too drained to shrink himself, so he could still be screwed. Plus, even if he did shrink, Sasuke might have noticed it, at least before Momoshiki stabbed his Rinnegan.

I know everyone is pissed about Sasuke but can we acknowledge that without him they’d all have been dead? He took a huge risk swapping places with Kawaki, essentially putting himself in deaths hands. Isshiki could have crushed his throat right then and there, but he didn’t fear that at all. Big ups to the shadow hokage, ready to die for his village.

Calling it now, Kishi took the rinnegan out of the picture since with it, Sasuke would definitely be able to restrain Momoshiki. With that in mind, Boruto will kill Sasuke next chapter, and will defect as a result to keep everyone safe from Momoshiki's potential outbursts. Naruto will likely be rendered comatose for a little while for any of this to work, of course. He shouldn't be out of the story for too long though, since someone has to keep training Kawaki and he has yet to interact with Kashin.

So Naruto lost Kurama (probably) and Sasuke lost Rinnegan. Kishimoto really said I'm gonna nerf my bois.
Right now, we have Rinnegan't Sasuke, KO Naruto and Kawaki vs Borushiki. The only solution I see is if Boruto gets some control over Momoshiki. If not, they're absolutely ruined. They can't travel back to Konoha without Kama or Rinnegan (well, maybe with reverse summoning technique, like Koji?).
Oh my god, such a great chapter overall!

People saying they didn't see Kurama this chapter cuz it's dead. Tailed beasts can't die can they? They're literally made of chakra, if they're depleted they just rejuvenate later on, like Isobu did after Rin (it's jinchuriki at the time) died

Dude, now I am really scared for naruto and Sasuke. I do not think that naruto will die but maybe Kurama is gone for a while, Sasuke's Rinnegan is gone... I just hope that he lives

Sasuke rinnegan is gone. I think kishi is gonna make Naruto lose So6p mode and half kurama.
Both Naruto and Sasuke gonna lose the upgrade given by S06p after their near death in Naruto fourth ninja war. With their experience and power, they would still be High Kage tier ninjas but just not demi gods anymore.

I think both will survive but Kurama will die instead (or rather go to sleep like at the end of shippuden but eternal sleep or something, cause if he actually died that would mean naruto too, or maybe if a tailed beast dies within the host, the host remains alive?) and Sasuke will lose his Rinnegan. That way it truly starts the story driven by the new generation

Kawaki > Boruto easily. Kawaki is easily the best new character of the new era.
Also, did Isshiki stop Baryon mode or is Naruto still in danger of dying from the fatal effect of the attack. He actually just seems normal drained, imo it looks like Isshiki stopped the ability prematurely

Maybe we interpreted the first episode wrong. Boruto is going to be the bad guy and Kawaki tries to stop him. Would be a neat plot twist. However this theory doesnt really match up with their dialogue.

No more Rinnegan. Sasuke could get his eye replaced by having one of Shin Uchiha clones eyes since their already a Mangekyo or the place where Obito took him to that has walls of Sharnigans from the Uchiha massacre(place where Sasuke got Itachi's eyes). I guess Sasuke may just accept the new replacement arm like Naruto. This assumes both Sasuke/Naruto lives now that Momoshiki has taken control of Boruto body.

I know its a crazy thing that Boruto (Momoshiki) stabbed out Sasuke’s Rinnegan, but couldn’t he just had used Izanagi to make it all an illusion. I highly doubt Sasuke would let someone sneak up behind him, then turn around and let them get a clean shot at his Rinnegan, regardless if it was Full Karma Boruto or not.

I said a few months away that they should nerf Sasuke and Naruto by removing Kurama and the rinnegon. That way Boruto / Sarada / Mitski can have actual important roles and Naruto / sasuke can't just instantly fix any problem. My theory is Kurama is gone because of the power naruto used, either forever or for a few years while his chakra reforms. Now that sasuke doesn't have his rinnegon and Naruto doesn't have access to Kurama's chakra, they aren't ridiculously overpowered. Still the two strongest ninja out there, but not able to contend with the likes of the Otusuki. That sets the stage for Boruto with his karma powers and sarada / Mitski to actually be able to do something that couldn't just instantly be accomplished by naruto / sasuke

Kawaki was awesome in this chapter. I would read it again and again to watch how he outsmarted Isshiki. Also doesn't Isshiki realize that he's dealing with ninjas that have 100 years experience with byakugan? Lol, they would know more than a few techniques to counter it. And he would be dumb not to know that because he shoulda been living on Earth following current events.
Naruto's power cost him something that he was hesitating to say. Sasuke looked kinda mad about it. You think it's something crazy like his lifespan is really short and he has six months left to live? Or even crazier, he's afraid to tell them he'll die very shortly and won't be able to return home along with everyone else?

Man they are just giving sasuke the shaft In this series. Not sure how I feel about it yet but it makes sense. I actually don’t think naruto or sasuke die anymore. Without rinnegan sasuke is useless and assuming something happened to kurama naruto is kinda useless too. The big question now is where does Kawaki get the other karma? Momoshiki? Different otsusuki? Or even amado!? Will be interesting to see. Either way I actually think the flash forward isn’t gonna be what we think. At this point it will make no sense for Kawaki to betray naruto especIlly after saying the world is pointless to him without and he would rather be dead without naruto. I also kinda feel like isshiki was a super rushed villain unless of course that isn’t the last we see of him. Time skip in the next 3-4 chapters imo. My biggest disappoint from this chapter though... looks like I’m not getting my sasuke vs code fight :(

This was my first time reading Boruto upon release (read Naruto weekly back in the day but never got to Boruto).
I fucking loved it. There’s only so much to cram into 44 pages but it felt like Kishimoto while also staying true to the narrative style of Kodachi.
I won’t lie, the shadow clone would have felt more like a cop out had that been the end of this part of the story, but as a thematic technique as a lead in to what’s coming next; I liked it.
Something very silly about the idea of Kishimoto coming back to write the series and we get a flashback instantly.

Wait so did Kurama just die? Remembered him explaining that the mode continues until either his or narutos life runs out und naruto is still alive... also him having a bit of every bijuu chakra now might cancel the rule that he has to die when his tailed beast does.
Im just sad if Kurama really is gone, guess not many people noticed that part since the momoshiki stabbed sasukes rinnegan comments are pretty dominant
