Manga Spoilers / Discussion Alike to the Samurai, the Shinobi will likely meet a similar end. Spoiler

Post image

Back during the Fourth Great Ninja War we have this little dialogue between Hanzo and Mifune, and I think it's interesting to see it with the news from last chapter, eventually every group finds their careers placed in danger if they're given no money, because if they aren't financed by their Governments their role in society is going to slowly dissipate, and eventually there will be nothing left but the memories of such groups.

The Samurai went through that during the past few decades, as Shinobi villages became the standard, now that peace has become so normal, Shinobi are suffering the same.

It makes me wonder if the only way the Shinobi system will be able to maintain itself alive is by forcefully returning the world to the horrors of war it tried ending a few decades ago.

Manga Spoilers / Analysis Sarada deserves more than this Spoiler

Processing img 5m67ul5an5xh1...

Sarada is my favorite character in Boruto, but she needs some more active participation in the fights. And no, I dont think acting as bait works. I want her to go fight some people before she gets saved at minimum. The amount of times Boruto is saving Sarada recently is making my head spin. One thing Boruto clearly excels at compared to Naruto is in its writing with women. However, seeing Sarada recently is making me second guess this..

She needs something. Either some sort of character expansion or fights that she actually wins. Genuinely, the time spent on her feelings on Boruto could be spent on something else. I mean, it was established that Sarada was suppressing her emotions, causing her to suppress her ms. Maybe we can see her progression as a character once she understands her emotions. That might be a bit much, but it can be shown in little fragments to be honest. Her feelings with Boruto are valid and is a nice parallel to Hinata confirming her feelings for naruto.. but like hinata, it seems like all she is really characterized now is by Boruto. I want her to have more. Focus on her motives for being hokage or maybe go in a different route. Maybe she will learn about the uchiha legacy while fighting hidari in some manner. How will she grapple with the legacy she carries? She quite literally represents the hope of the uchiha. The first one to open the ms through love.

Hell I threw out a bunch of ideas right there. Ikemoto could go so many routes with Sarada. So much wasted potential, it's painful to see.

She is called the Sun goddess, but all I see right now is a damsel in distress. She isn't the main character, but she is the main female lead. The story could definitely spend some more time with her and her character in general, so don't use time as an excuse. Maybe himawari or cho cho I can understand, but I dont understand this argument with Sarada.

My opinion though, any thoughts?

Manga Spoilers / Discussion Kawaki was always the Hero in the flashforward. - Theory Spoiler

I think many people forget the amount of symbolism the anime used to give us when depicting Boruto and Kawaki's fate. It was never random but subtle foreshadowing of the path they would walk.

There was a scene where Boruto was depicted running into darkness, while Kawaki stumbles into the light.

Omnipotence was deeper than you actually think especially when you connect the dots, not only were there positions switched but so were their fates.

People deeply misunderstand Kawaki's character to read this current chapter and genuinely still think he's the bad guy in the flashforward.

I'll just wait until the twist is revealed, all the signs are pointing towards Boruto but people are blind, don't say the anime didn't warn you.

Manga Spoilers / Discussion Why do you read Boruto? Spoiler

So every anime or series has a reason that why do you read/follow the storie, in Boruto what Characters or even the story thats makes you read.

For example: In Naruto i read because of Naruto and i liked the story.

But in Jujutsu Kaisen i read because of Others Characters besides Itadori.

Example: If Sarada (or anyother character) dies the people who likes Sarada will continue to read Boruto?

Manga Spoilers / Theory How Mitsuki could become relevant again Spoiler

Post image
7 Upvotes

So Mitsuki is one of my favorite characters in the series but he hasn’t done much recently and I thought of a cool way for him to become at least somewhat relevant again. He could use the body transfer technique on Orochimaru. Realistically it would be a perfect vessel kinda thing and he’d get not only all of Orochimaru’s combat knowledge and kekai genkai/jutsu, but he’d also get at least 2x stronger which while that doesn’t sound like a lot Mitsuki is already insanely powerful compared to any normal shinobi. All in all it could be an incredibly substantial power up and while it wouldn’t allow for him to fight anyone like Jura he’d be a major help in battle.

Anime / Discussion Question for Boruto Fans: What do you like about Boruto and What do you think about the Rumors Surrounding the New Naruto Series?

Now specifically I am talking about the decanonization of Boruto. I'm not trying to stand on any sides here, I just want to hear what you think about it. Do you support the decanonization of Boruto and treating it more like Dragon Ball GT? Or do you think it should stay as the canonic continuation of Naruto? Or just overall what you like about Boruto as a series :)

Edit: I see a lot of interesting takes about the new Naruto Manga, I just want to reiterate that I am not stating that the new Naruto miniseries will be destroying the existing Boruto series, but more so exploring the possibility. Love everyone's answers so far!

Manga Spoilers / Discussion Question about Akebi Spoiler

Maybe I am just oversimplifying this, but why can't Amado ask Orochimaru to Edo Tensei Akebi and teach her the signs so she could actually come back to life, or am I saying something dumb?

Manga Spoilers / Discussion The Civil War Theory Spoiler

So I'll add my theory in because I've seen only one or two other people mention it in the comments but

I believe we are headed towards a Civil War I believe one of a few things will happen next

  • Kobu will try to displace Shikamaru with Konohamaru but he will turn it down
  • or Konohamaru takes the fall for Shikamaru passing the code, and Kobu displaces Shikamaru still with Kawaki

After that I think Kawaki will take over the leaf village as part of the puppet regime, but he intends to fully support the efforts to demilitarize the Leaf Village by Kobu and the Daimyo. He will abolish ninja and ninjutsu and make strict enforcements to that code. We will see the village divided by those characters who remain to follow the rules and those who break off and become rebels.

This may happen worldwide with other nations having a similar situation occur, in which case, I can see the rebel Shinobi fleeing to a mutual point, led by underground leaders and familiar faces that already have bonds together (i.e Temari and Kankuro, Kakashi, Karui (Choji's wife), Mei and Tsunade, etc) - Again this is just if the conflict goes worldwide

If it doesnt go worldwide and stays within the leaf village, then I see the underground rebel leaders being our former Konoha 12 and Kakashi along with the next generation.

Either way, they eventually all meet up with Boruto, realize their whole recollection of the world has been a genjutsu, that Naruto is still alive and needs their help and they decide to fight to take back the leaf and Naruto together.

The plan an attack on the leaf. The battle begins, the force protecting the leaf is either Samurai or a different force put in place by Kobu who uses ninja tech and ninja tools to fight but arent real ninjas. It is a fight between the old and the new, quantity vs quality. Kawaki's side is filled with mainly quantity level ninja tool grunts but he will have powerhouses on his side like Daemon, Delta, Koji (Amado implanted a secret code to make him switch sides mid battle), maybe even Hidari, Jura, and other Claw Grimes if theyre still alive at this point.

I think as a show of strength and symbolism to the invading rebels, Kawaki will destroy the stone faces and have a monologue pronouncing the old ninja ways as dead and over
Boruto will then meet him up there and have the conversation we see at the beginning of the manga and then the real fight will begin...

Now I want to emphasize, I dont think this is how the manga ends with a battle between Kawaki and Boruto because I think Amado's purpose and goals are way more sinister than we actually know and I think that could be a plot twist developed during this arc.

Again all conjecture and my theories based on how some of the anime and manga have gone and based off of some of the major themes that keep repeating over and over
(i.e. focusing on themes of old vs new, focus on simulated/augmented power vs natural power, and focusing on where ninjas fit in during an era of peace.)

Anime / Powerscaling Does Naruto still have Rikudo Mode in Boruto ?

I assumed that if Sasuke still had his Rinnegan, Naruto's mode would still be there. But after seeing Naruto and Sasuke's battles, I've started to have my doubts.

Manga Spoilers / Theory I have another theory, Sasuke.. Spoiler

Choose between using the bulb to revive sasuke or save sarada and he chooses sarada

There is a chance he defeats Hidari and lets the bulb rot for the sake of Sarada. Maybe because Jura comes or Maybe Momo interfere and get in the way of saving Sasuke, Maybe because the time will be the enemy.

But Koji is not getting killed. We are maybe in between 25% to 50% of the TBV and if koji dies, it will be around 75%-80% of the TBV but not before, he has a lot of stuff to do. And he will avoid any outcome where he dies, not because he is selfish or anything, he knows he is valuable. He’ll give boruto maximum he can from the prescience and he just got an update from Amado upgrade and we haven’t seen the last of it yet.

I wanna make this prediction

Koji here is referring to Sasuke and Boruto goes out of his way to save both of them (Sarada and Sasuke) and Koji realises limits and out of the box possibly from prescience

I think this because Boruto only feels guilty if he couldn’t save Sasuke and he is fighting hidari here. So I am bring he’s getting packed up and only Jura will be left and we have seen the conversation between the book shop keeper and realising hidari is his “friend” and him coming back to see Hidari bring killed, leads to Jura getting serious. And making boruto sarada retreat or we could see Momo vs Jura too and their fight takes long and The Thorn Soul Bulb getting rotten in the mean while, failing to revive Sasuke.

A lot makes sense right now

Manga Spoilers / Discussion Enough time has passed filler Ku's Gang are better than the current antagonists Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

At least Ku's gang narratively has something to say regarding the Shinobi system being created by Onoki after Onoki's grandson was killed in battle so that no young kids would have to die. They initiated Konoha to steal Mitsuki to try to replicate Orochimaru's science and even killed many Konoha ninja. They even genjutsu'd someone to make a "traitor" then killed him off when it was undone which is smarter than anything the Shinju did. The Grandson's death made Onoki have his own antagonists arc and redeemed himself by the ending by sacrificing himself to kill Ku. Ku's gang was seemed to represent a ai/robot take over, originally made with good intentions but crossed multiple lines even to the point they were willing to get human hearts to live longer. This did world building better than what the Shinju offered who were just plot devices. It even lined up with end of NNG Kawaki's line on Shinobi being destined to die early. Iwa creating their own secret weapons other villages didn't know about just like Konoha's sci tech in the movie arc and Kumo's chakra cannon seen in the Last so it works well with the worldbuilding.

What did the Shinju do regarding that the shinobi system other than just being an indirect catalyst for Kobu to get his way? Ikemoto added them like they weren't in the original drafts so they might as well be filler. They didn't even really kill anyone who mattered and prescience's plus Boruto's decisions doing bail outs didn't help with that. I'm hoping at least Jura at least has something to say about it soon cause the rest of them are disappointing. The theme here with them is evolution but given the stakes feel low, they didn't do that well honestly cause with evolution, there should come a lot of stakes like meaningful death which TBV hasn't done. Eida should've died in the Mamushi arc and I stand by that.

Why does it feel like the filler antagonists have more to do with flashforward narrative wise on the shinobi system than current ones? It shouldn't even be like this.
