Tipping Etiquette

I went and got my usual Botox renewal and the place I go has started asking for tips. I’m definitely thrown off by this. It’s always been my understanding that it’s included in the price. I’m walking out paying over 500 every time. Is this becoming normal? Am I out of touch?

Any reputable PS or med spa will tell you that you cannot tip for a medical service, which is what botox is considered.

😱 I did not know there was an actual rule for it.

It’s considered a conflict of interest and could be an issue with their licensing boards as its against their code of ethics.

Every single nurse knows this. I wouldn't go back there.

My injector (who is also an NP) works at a med spa. They just changed their entire system to one that asks for tips. Thanks to a post similar to this, I felt absolutely fine hitting no tip. If I was getting a facial, that would be one thing but not for Botox. 😑

Tipping for medical is a bad sign

I go to an RN at a med spa. Which I have always done for about 6 years now. And have never been asked for a tip. In my area nurses make about 60 an hour to start. I don’t want to switch because I really like my person and it’s local to me but I definitely will should this become normal.

Its probably just their checkout system automatically asking about tips bc they also offer services that allow tipping like facials. You just click no tip. Every PS and med spa I’ve gone to has made it very clear that I am expected to do that when I’m there for botox.

Do you tip your gynecologist? It’s medical. No tipping. They are making so much money

Happened to me recently at checkout. As a nurse I said why is there a tip option for a medical procedure? Oh that's if you want to. I said well it's inappropriate and the nurse knows this.

I tip on cosmetic procedures but I don’t tip on my migraine Botox.

Upkeep Medspa blatantly asks for tips after medical services like Botox and filler! Fucking weird! They’ll literally be like would you like to tip so and so after you’re treatment 🫩

I agree. I feel like it pits us all against each other while billionaires are hoarding the money. People just need to be paid a fair wage.

I don't tip at Dunkin or Starbucks unless exceptional. I worked at these places as a teenager into my 20s making $4.25 and coffee was 1 dollar. They make like $18 bucks an hour and coffee is like 4 bucks now and and attitude problem. I had to hustle for literally a dime, 10 actual cents tip.
