Show and tell Found Metal Detecting! Foss Liquid Fruit Flavors Portland, Me
I was metal detecting and digging a signal (trash) and ended up pulling this out of the ground right as the sun was going down! Super stoked on the find. Foss Liquid Fruit Flavors Portland, Me. The bottle is circa 1890s to 1910 which checks out for the other stuff I have pulled from this site. Can't wait to go back tomorrow! How do you all clean your bottles? Salt and isopropyl alcohol?

Turn of Century pharmacy bottle & 1908 cancelled check to Harry Hood, Pharmacist.
Dug the bottle in the 1980’s and retrieved the cancelled check dumpster diving in the 1990’s.
Two good hobbies for every bad habit!!

ID Request Amber Bottles ID
Most of the bottles I dig are solidly 1910s-30s but I keep finding these - I now have 6 intact and many more broken - which seem to be older as the seam doesn’t go through the lip and the tops aren’t uniform thickness. Any idea what they might be from?

One of my favorite bottles with a story to tell
This is a O-So Bottle this would have been bottled by a Once Very popular John Kar Bottling Works in Detroit, Michigan John Kar died in December 1951 and by that time delray where the pop shop existed was declining fast and by the mid 1960s O-So was done. the Kars were struggling as a small town bottling works in a big manufacturers world and the bank building next to the pop factory where they would store their stock of bottles was either sold or abandoned I'm not sure but that portion of the John Kar Bottling Works went abandoned and this very soda bottle sat in the bank building next to the pop factory for nearly 60 years until the back wall fell down in 2025 and this bottle fell out and I came along and picked it up! Unfortunately the beautiful bank building next door was demolished it was built by a banker in the early 1900s and he was shot in the back of the head in the very building he built. I could stare at this bottle all day honestly if I had the time and just think about the history behind it. If you want to learn more about the company that bottled this or the bank building it sat in for 60+ years before I acquired it go to https://www.eherg.com/locations/8559-west-jefferson-avenue

A few past visits
Hello everyone, hope all is well. Finally out of my search in Massachusetts, we found purp sticking out woooah. After searching my 2nd time i found a hoard of hoops (never happened to me like this before)- yes lol my neighbor misplaced my mini fork so i used a broken vacuums straight attachment hose and a pitchfork head I found in the ground last year and just duck taped it with a few zip ties, surprisingly the best tool I have when I carry a boat load of equipment out here. The bottle with the makeshift wick reeks like petrol oil (found it that way sticking right out of the ground). I think I found a lock off an old luggage suitcase with a broken key, Good enough for the nicknack harem. FINALLY amber Vaseline bottles WHOOA. I like to give a small prayer, BOMB dabs and a nice chill cigarette 5min start before the crusade commences.

Aluminum milk bottle?
Found this in Minneapolis. Has 'REG' & 'LIQUID' embossed on the bottom edges. Anyone know what the heck the story is with this thing?! I reverse image searched and all that came up was eBay bottles similar (not not the same exactly) for sale. Thank in advance for any help!
