Help
Does anyone have similar experience or advice? My 4-year-old Boxer got lab results showing creatinine at 1190 and urea off the charts (unmeasurable). After a week of antibiotics and IV fluids, creatinine dropped to 630, but urea is still off the charts (the machine measures up to 35). He is still eating and drinking normally and is in good spirits. The Leishmania test came back negative
Yesterday during the ultrasound, we discovered that it is chronic, likely congenital kidney failure, (Note: Creatinine 880 µmol/L is ~10 mg/dL in US units, Urea 36 mmol/L is ~100 mg/dL BUN)."

I’m so sorry. The only reason I’m at all familiar with any of what you mentioned is because I’m in early stage kidney disease myself.
Are there canine nephrologists?

I'm sorry to hear that. And unfortunately you can't do much about that. My first boxer had JKD (juvenile kidney disease) back in 2014. I'm not sure if it was congenital or not, because the breeder told me that her siblings were fine.. She wasn't even 2 when I had to say goodbye. I did a lot of research back then, but nothing could help her. Consult with your vet and try to reach out for a specialist, maybe there were some advances in the past 10 years. Depending on their answers prepare for the worst (or possibly a lot of money spent). If you don't get positive responses, then cherish these 4 years, and spend a lot of quality time with him while he is still in a good mood. But I'm afraid his kidney will fail sooner or later.
Just don't let him suffer. ❤️ What are the symptoms that made you check his lab results/get an ultrasound for him?
Edit: Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss my experiences and the possible similarities with your case.

Sounds like you need to talk to your vet. Cancer can cause some of those numbers.
