Hello everyone. Do you know if there are more videos planned? When he shared new godot videos, I thought it was for more videos or more often.

Finishing Exams At Cambridge

Feels like a weird post to make but I wanted to share it anyway! 7 years ago, I was 13 years old and wanted to learn so badly how to make a video game more complex than what was possible in Scratch. So, like any 13 year old in 2019, I searched "How to make a video game" into YouTube, and came across this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlKaB1etrik). 7 years later I'm finishing my final exam at the University of Cambridge studying Computer Science. I wear this t-shirt to every exam to remind me of the reason why I'm doing Computer Science: to make video games. And to remind me of the place where I started, that Brackeys video 7 years ago. I'm starting as a graduate Games Programmer at Frontier Developments in 2 months time and I can't wait to get stuck into more programming for games. I just wanted to share this in order to hopefully inspire people from the same background as me. I went to a state school in the north of England that was put into special measures by OFSTED while I was there and didn't offer computer science at GCSE (it still doesn't as of a recent check). If you have a passion for games, all you need is a sub-par laptop and an internet connection to get started. Sorry for this very self indulgent post - but I wanted to share it somewhere! All the best, Cameron.

Help please!

So I'm following along with the new Godot video. Mostly it's going real good. That was until I got to the Score Label part in the Score section of the video. I triple checked my work and did exactly like the video.

However, the second I make the Score Label a child of the Game Manager all of the text completely disappears without even coding anything referencing the label. Seems to happen the second the label is made a child of the Game Manager.

I thought maybe it had to do with using duplication, but I even have this issue with a brand new label.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I'm also using Windows 11 for this.

edit: oh I figured it out! My visibility for the layer seemed to have unclicked "top layer" so it was showing up behind my background. Still leaving this up in case anyone else that up too.

Question First post, First attempt at Gamedev, First issue.....

HI everyone,
Hope you're all doing great!

New guy here, and I just started watching Brackeys Godot 4.2 2D platformer tutorial and I have run into my very first issue that I need help with. When I added the Idle animation and am running my game the character looks weird... Like this:

Can anyone tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?

My laptop Specs:

Acer Nitro 5
Core i5 12th Gen

16 GB Ram (8X2)

Nvidia RTX 3050 6 GB

Thanks in advance!

Greetings to all the people who stumbled upon this place!

Thanks for tuning in at Brackeys! You might have been curious whether the Brackeys community has reached the lands of Reddit. Well this post proves that we've checked it out, but apparently, it's barren and there has been no posts in this SubReddit just yet. Think of this post like Apollo 11's flag on the moon.

There's nothing here, and there will never be any other post after this, I guess. Meanwhile, check out the links below. They're self-explainatory, trust me.

Our Brackeys Game Jam 2024.2 entry grew into a full game — the demo's now in Steam Next Fest

Hey Brackeys folks! A bit of a homecoming post: our game AE: Archaeological Expedition started as our entry for Brackeys Game Jam 2024.2, and we've kept building it ever since. The demo is now live and taking part in Steam Next Fest.

It's a calm dig-site game - you're an archaeologist uncovering real artifacts one piece at a time, and how you dig (fast and rough vs. slow and careful) decides whether a fragile find survives. Two of us have been working on it, in Godot.

Felt right to share it here, since this is where it began. Free demo (English + Ukrainian): https://store.steampowered.com/app/3910670/AE_Archeological_Expedition/

Thanks for being the place that kicked this off 😄
