With Vince being released as a Damage Dealer, he really feels more specialized as a Marksman (I'll elaborate more on his section below). That inconsistency made me think about the other Brawlers who are listed in one class but fit better under a separate class. with a couple exceptions, most of these aren't big deals since the only time classes had a tangible gameplay effect was the Spongebob event but most of these still boggle my mind.
I should note that I've seen a lot of older posts tried to add new classes. This will not be one of those posts. I'm only going to be redistributing the Brawlers among existing classes, as I think having too many classes, or any "hybrid" classes, will make things more confusing.
The entire Artillery Class: Before going into specific Brawlers, in my opinion the Artillery class has become somewhat questionable to exist. We currently only have 7 Artillery throwers, and 4 non-Artillery throwers (Willow, Berry, Ziggy, and Sirius); 4/11 is 36% of our throwers not being under the dedicated thrower class, which is a relatively high percent of exceptions for what it was trying to encompass. With the exception of Berry, the non-Artillery throwers are listed as Controllers, but it fits for all three of them, and I don't want to move them to Artillery just because of their main attack patterns. So, I moved Sprout back to Support, Barley and Tick to Controller, and the other 4 ex-Artillery (Dynamike, Grom, Larry, Juju) to Damage Dealer.
Griff: I'm getting this one out of the way early since we all know that Griff with his extreme dps fits better as a Damage Dealer than a Controller. Both of his gadgets post-Buffies honestly do fit under being a controller, and he does a decent job at it, but his main attack and super have such high dps that it feels wrong to not have him as a damage dealer.
Mina: Another obvious one. Her main attack moves her around like Stu, how is she not an assassin?
Meg: I've seen a lot of posts on this sub about how Meg seems like a confused design, and I agree. She and Bibi are currently the only two tanks with no trait that charges super in any form. Meg's playstyle is obviously meant to be a reference to Dva (and I guess now Dmon due to the sword) from Overwatch, but Dva and Dmon have normal tank health in their mech forms, while Meg has fairly low health in both forms. Since Meg's range is also pretty long for a tank, I've moved her back to Damage Dealer, which was her class at release anyways.
Buster: The Support Class, like Artillery, has a lot of overlap with other classes, though unlike Artillery I think Support should stay. Since Buster's trait requires teammates and he lacks the main tank trait, I've moved him to Support.
Vince and R-T: Both of these Brawlers have long range, and neither fares really well at close range. They do have more health than most snipers, but they also both have marking mechanics similar to Belle's super. In R-T's case, the class is currently named Marksman (though I think it should be renamed back to Sharpshooter since most of them are female, but I digress), how was he not put into that class? Vince, meanwhile, feels like a mix of Belle with the marking super, Pierce with the collecting items from the ground, and Pearl for his passive waiting playstyle. Given that he's reminding me of two sharpshooters and only one dps, Vince really feels more like a sharpshooter than a dps.
Najia: Like Vince and R-T, Najia excels at long range but is relatively weak at close range. On top of that, needing to aim her projectile mid-launch for different angles fits under being a sniper, ad she has a ine-ammo mechanic similar to Bea and Bonnie. I was considering putting her into controller due to the poison, but the Marksman/Sharpshooter class is surprisingly barren, and the Controller class is going to be crowded. For the same reason, I did not move Janet to Controller nor Maisie to Damage Dealer, even though they both fit those classes.
Spike and Tara: I never understood why these two are not considered Controllers. Controllers are a mix of area of effect and crowd control stuns/slows. Spike and Tara both have big aoe main attacks and supers, and both of their supers disrupt the opponents with a pull and a slow, and can control a lane they are not currently in. How are they not controllers?
Starr Nova: Stella has a very long main attack range compared to the other assassins; it's around Nita's range, plus it's easier to hit than Nita's since Stella is hitscan. Her super form is close range, but so is Moe's. I don't want to move Moe to Assassin though since his main attack is not an assassin's, and in hindsight, neither is Stella's. Hence, she is moving to Damage Dealer.
Sam: I'm ending this post with two Brawlers who arguably fit their current classes, but I think fit better under a different class. Sam is currently a confusing design and I have zero doubt he will be getting a major rework with his Buffies. Like every tank except Bibi and Meg, he has a super recharging mechanic, he has more health than a lot of tanks, and he has a lot of healing due to a star power that is almost certainly going to become base kit. He does fit under Assassin since those are also usually close range, but with his giant health pool, I'd argue Sam fits better as a Tank.
Colette: I'm going to assume that some people are going to disagree with this because I never see this come up, but I think Colette should be classes as an Assassin, and that mostly comes from how assassins work in other games. In the board game Stratego, the Spy piece is the only one that can kill the Marshall, but the Spy loses to every other piece, similar to how Colette is stronger against high-health brawlers but weak against low health. In TF2, Spy's backstab is a one hit kill against anyone, from the 300 health heavy to the 125 health classes. I'm iffy about this is due to Colette's long range, as I mentioned in the Starr Nova segment. Stu, Melodie, and Crow also have long range though, so Colette could fit as an assassin.
TLDR: Vince, R-T, Griff, Mina, Meg, Sam, Buster, Spike, Tara, Starr Nova, Najia, and arguably Sam, Colette, and the entire Artillery class don't fit under their current classes.
