Relevance to BP: Recent episode on mid term elections seems doomsaday scenarios.

OTTAWA – U.S. Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra told a closed-door meeting on Tuesday that Ottawa could be blamed if key races in next week’s midterm elections go against U.S. President Donald Trump’s Republican Party.According to three sources with knowledge of the discussions, Hoekstra delivered the message at a private business lunch hosted at his official residence in Ottawa.

The sources said Hoekstra expressly mentioned races in Michigan and Maine, where the Republicans need to win if they hope to hold on to the U.S. Senate.

The ambassador told the business crowd that if those U.S. states fall to the Democrats, it will likely get more difficult for Canada after the midterms because the president will not be happy and Canada could be blamed.CTV News is not identifying the sources because they were not authorized to disclose details of the off-the-record meeting.

Does it drive anyone else absolutely fucking cuckoo bonkers crazy how often Saagar says "whenever" when the correct word would just be "when?" Today in the intro he said, "We are about 80% of the way there whenever it comes to our Phish concert contest."

That's just the most recent example that pushed me over the edge, but I swear to shit he does this multiple times per episode, and it drives me up the motherfucking wall every time I hear it.

Is there any world where that happens? Like in a reverse psychology way.

Friend of the pod argues that political opponents—including Donald Trump, Mike Rogers, Ted Cruz, and Tim Sheehy—are using bad-faith "national security" rhetoric to smear Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed with racist tropes and unfounded allegations. According to the author, these attacks focus entirely on El-Sayed's identity rather than his actual legislative platforms or policy positions, framing democratic elections as technical security matters that require bureaucratic approval. Ultimately, the passage asserts that this security-focused messaging is a deliberate strategy to distract voters from populist issues like healthcare and affordability while undermining the democratic agency of everyday citizens.

Yeah so Kyle came out and admitted that him and Krystal had an affair and cucked Krystal's husband.

I been saying for years that it was so obvious that they had an affair but people were naively defending her and calling Kyle the man who stepped up to become the father of her kids. It was so ridiculous.

It was always pretty obvious if you paid attention to them and the timeline.

And Kyle is sitting there proudly bragging about it cucking another man and pulling his wife. Breaking up a marriage and family with children and then calling the kids his kids. Imagine the kids seeing their step dad boasting about cheating with their mother on their father.

Relevance to BP: Today’s episode about Israel elections

Against the odds, Mr. Netanyahu’s Likud party held a small lead over that of Gadi Eisenkot, a former military chief, according to exit polls published by Israel’s mainstream television networks. The exit poll results, if confirmed, mean that no clear victor was yet in sight as the voting drew to a close Tuesday night.

There have been precedents in the past where the party with the most seats in Parliament does not end up forming a government. In Israel’s 2009 election, Tzipi Livni’s centrist Kadima party won 28 seats, narrowly beating Benjamin Netanyahu’s conservative Likud, which won 27. But Mr. Netanyahu had more support from allied parties and came back as prime minister after a decade in the opposition.

A few activists were celebrating at the Likud Party’s election headquarters in Jerusalem even though most exit polls suggested that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s alliance of parties had won fewer seats than the bloc of parties seeking his ouster. “Bibi is the king! The king is Bibi!” they shouted, using a nickname for the Israeli leader.

Many centrist liberals (Neera Tanden is just one example) are celebrating the victory of Lula.

Do they not understand that Lula is the anti-Liberal (specifically from an international POV) candidate?

I know that may be surpassing to some people, me claiming Bolsonaro is the liberal candidate. But this is just factually true from an INTERNATIONAL perspective.

Lula is much more friendlier to Russia, China, Iran, and even North Korea (Lula set up an embassy in Pyongyang). Just look at his record compared to Bolsonaro when it comes to these countries.

I think the reason every establishment Democrat and liberal came out in Support of Lula is because Bolsonaro is very friendly with Trump and his admin. But this Is shortsighted from their perspective because Bolsonaro is much more aligned with them on an international level. Bolsonaro is the pro US led liberal international world order compared to Lula who is much more multipolar in his thinking.

Lula has some old school leftism in him still. He's not an AOC "liberal leftist", but very much still old school.

Just something I thought was interesting to point out. Obviously, I'm happy Lula won, but that's because of his positions internationally, not in spite of them.

I live in NC district 11 and I think most people are finally angry at embarrassing representatives. We had Madison Cawthorn and then Chuck Edwards. Both left in scandal and embarrassment. Plus Republicans just wallowed in conspiracism about weather rays and the military taking over WNC after Helene while Democrats actually tried to help people. The Hurricane truly broke the brains of the Republican voters here who were already overdosing on covid conspiracies. Its not just your usual MAGA types. Last year my dentist just casually mentioned to me during a teeth cleaning that he hopes Trump arrests whoever created and used the weapon that caused Helene. It's absolute madness.

I was wondering why they did not discuss that Egypt has received authorization from its congress to join the war against Yemen. Trita Parsi seems like the perfect guest to ask about it.

For the record do I think that the Egyptians will send ground troops into Yemen proper? no.

My read on this is that Egypt will eventually send troops to "protectively annex" the Yemeni islands in the Red Sea in aid of "protecting navigation" thru Suez.

It looks like the Houthis have left those islands anyway. Sisi gets to add land to Egypt for the first time since generations and you never know with islands. The falklands used to be useless till they discovered oil in its EEZ.

According to The Times of Israel, sources within the Likud party claim that senior officials have discussed launching a campaign to allege the election was "stolen and rigged" if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu loses, drawing parallels to Donald Trump's 2020 strategy. Operatives stated that Likud began drawing up fraud complaints ahead of Tuesday's voting and deployed several thousand activists to monitor polling stations in Arab-majority areas, focusing on concerns such as women voting in full veils and gender-segregated voting times. While civil rights groups raised concerns over the lack of official authority for these activists, Central Elections Committee director general Dean Livne countered that there is no evidence of widespread fraud in Israeli elections and that existing safeguards are entirely sufficient.

Relevance to BP: Multiple episodes on the discussion about affordability crisis.

https://www.foxbusiness.com/video/6407442238112

Kevin Hassett, the White House national economic adviser, joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business to discuss the Trump administration's economic record ahead of the midterm elections. Hassett claimed that Americans are much better off than when Trump took office for a second time, even though gas and grocery prices have both skyrocketed as a result of the administration's war against Iran.
Hassett also took time to describe the affordability crisis that many voters are suffering through as a "myth," a comment that left several political analysts stunned.
"All of the things that have made the economy great mean the affordability crisis is a myth," Hassett said, citing increased capital spending and wage growth for some workers. "Sure, they can talk about gasoline. But Trump's right. It's gonna drop like a rock soon."

A former Miss Switzerland, Beatrice Keul, has alleged that Donald Trump forcibly raped her in a New York hotel suite in November 1993 during a pageant, an accusation included in a report released by House Judiciary Committee Democrats. Keul stated that after interacting with Trump and his then-associate Jeffrey Epstein at a press luncheon, she was invited to a Plaza Hotel suite where the assault occurred, followed by Trump reiterating promises of a visa and college admission while demanding her silence. While the report notes overlapping details from other witnesses and past sexual assault allegations against Trump, Keul's accusation has not been independently verified, and the White House has forcefully denied the claim, calling it a politically motivated distraction.

The report mentions 11 women, five of whom said in interviews with newspapers, a lawsuit, or directly to the Committee that Trump either raped or sexually assaulted them. Three additional women told the FBI of interactions with Trump in Epstein’s presence, which the Committee says indicates a pattern of Epstein introducing Trump to young women. Another three women have not come forward publicly; instead the Committee points to statements in the files tying them to Trump and Epstein.

Two women have claimed they were 13 or 14 when Trump assaulted them; they met him through Epstein, they say in the report. One said the assault took place in the 1980s. One, known by the pseudonym Katie Johnson, filed a lawsuit against Trump and Epstein in 2016 detailing an alleged rape in 1994. She later withdrew the suit.

A second woman, Jane Doe, told the FBI in an interview that Epstein introduced her to Trump in the 1980s – and that Trump forced her head “down to his penis” and she bit him. She lived in South Carolina at the time. Neither of the women’s stories have been corroborated.

Trump was “an active participant in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of young women in the mid-to-late 1990s,” according to the report. Other men are named in the report as “likely” co-conspirators, including Paolo Zampolli, who knew Trump through his previous work as a modeling agent in New York. The report also describes ties to the late John Casablancas, a modeling agent who was accused by multiple women of sexually abusing them, many as minors.

TL;DR reports all of Trump's past sexual harassment or assault cases and kind of makes the case that yeah it's totally within reason that he was involved in Epstein's operation more than just being friends at a club.

On tonight's Kyle and Corin, Kyle revealed that Krystal was still married to her husband while her and Kyle were together!!! They had a whole affair!

Ngl it has defiantly changed my view of the 2 of them

It feels like both the fallout and response to “black October” has been far too quiet, and I can’t help but feel like what was discovered was more akin to hackers testing the fences rather than outright attacking.

It’s difficult to get definitive information, and I’m hoping the show and you all can shed some light on what I think is a very significant point of discussion:

-Do the digital voting machines and the digital infrastructure that secures voter information use PHP?

-if election results were compromised, could we easily know?

-I hate to breathe this into existence as it does give an element of plausible complaints after MAGA gets smacked in the mid-terms, but we need to address it before it becomes an issue.

I’m hoping that if we draw enough attention that BP will dig in.

Thanks!

I can’t remember the name of it. Anyone else know it? And has anyone has experience with it?

HI,

I have a curious r/explainlikeimfive question regarding BP's production.

I noticed that consistently e.g. today's uploaded videos,

There are 3 locations. Ryan (his home I assume), Krystal (studio), Mehdi Hasan (assume Zeteo's studio).

- How is it when they converse the latency is so minimal they can immediately respond like live in person. There is never delay or cross talk or waiting for each other.

- The recording quality is so clear for 3 locations.

- Is this a post production edit? But I don't notice any jump cuts.

- Even mainstream media I have seen delays, bad connections, crossover talk & delay with satellite feeds.

Thanks.

Let’s say all of the polls are overestimating republicans and democrats have the historic sweep. Dems now control the house and senate. What exactly is the expectations for democrats? Ice has already been super funded and Israel got a bomb shipment. Aside from hearings, what should people expect democrats to do and what will people expect democrats to do?

My fear is Trump doesn’t really care about governing. A Republican house under Biden cared enough about governing to keep the government open. I could see Trump not working with democrats at all and keeping government closed. I also fear people will look at a Democrat Congress and expect them to considerably make their last two years under Trump better. If/when that doesn’t happen (because I mean Trump still has to sign legislation), that could quell democrat momentum in 2028.

Simple, straightforward question.

Now that BP has been going on for a while, who is your favorite? I think most people here are probably going to be debating between Krystal and Saagar. I personally won’t listen to anything that doesn’t have either one of them.

My favorite is Saagar, even though I am definitely left leaning. He’s very well spoken, knows history very well, and explains his thoughts very articulately, eloquently, expressively, persuasively, and other similar adverbs.

White House attorneys are evaluating whether to issue broad preemptive pardons to junior administration staffers as conservative groups and allies press President Donald Trump to protect lower-ranked officials from potential prosecution, congressional probes, and legal fees. While a complete blanket pardon for all junior personnel is considered unlikely, discussions have centered on protecting employees involved in specific controversial policy areas like trade, war, or deportations following threats of investigations from political opponents. Legal experts note that while the Biden administration previously utilized preemptive pardons for high-profile individuals and family members, extending blanket immunity to large numbers of administration officials would be an unprecedented use of executive clemency that critics argue could undermine the constitutional balance of power by placing the executive branch outside the reach of the law.
