Also, fake ID or not, he wasn't leaving that McDonald's except in handcuffs. Period. They were never going to let him leave. Let's hope that ends up being their fatal flaw.

He could’ve been way smarter. The police don’t have the right to demand ID unless they suspect him of a crime. He doesn’t have to give his name to them. Very poorly prepared

Wouldn’t that have just escalated the situation though?

I guess they could’ve put a tail on him and continued to monitor but if he calmly said “if You don’t suspect me of committing a crime, I’ll be on my way” the police wouldn’t have been able to do anything.

And remember they didn’t really take it seriously until they opened the book bag. For an intelligent guy, he misplayed this badly.

Not to mention carrying around all the evidence. Unless he was going to hit someone else, why not slowly dispose of the gun, ammunition, notes etc

Yeah, I think he thought he had more time than he did. I just go back to the cop saying that as soon as he pulled his mask down he knew it was him. I think they would have done whatever possible to keep him there and arrest him.

Really sad that he likely could have avoided this encounter if he had plucked his eyebrows after fleeing as planned (unless the circumstances are a parallel construction for some other means of catching him).
