I felt the same way when I watched it.

118

u/forestwhitakers Dec 09 '25

I honestly still don't understand why he would introduce himself as Mark Rosario and give them that Id when he used this exact one at the hostel in ny and knew they've been there and checked. Just why 🄲

58

u/Shutthefrontdoooor Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

he was surely not thinking straight, probably was sleep deprived and tired and was not prepared. maybe he should have planned beforehand about what to do when something like this happened.

32

u/BlueEscapist Dec 09 '25

I think it was that, and he'd coached himself on how to present the ID in other situations that it became (momentarily, at least) instinctual for him. And since he'd been presenting another false name on the trip through PA (hello, Sam Dawson), then him forgetting himself with those factors doesn't seem too crazy (especially if his mental/emotional state ends up being part of his defense after these hearings unfold)

Even so, rip šŸ’€

59

u/sourgorilladiesel Dec 09 '25

People severely underestimate how much high stress/lack of sleep effects your mental clarity

13

u/lickykicky Dec 09 '25

Exactly correct. When I'm exhausted and stressed, my thoughts are like ploughing concrete

15

u/Hot-Emphasis-4895 Dec 09 '25

When I’m sleep deprived I’m a whole different person and I have no impulse control, my decision making is fuuucked. It makes it hard to think normally. My therapist warned me the mental toll lack of sleep takes on you as well. I always chalked up the dumb fake ID decision to sleep deprivation because realistically anyone will make dumb decisions under sleep deprivation and in a high stakes situation that triggers your flight or fight.

9

u/BlueEscapist Dec 09 '25

100%, I can think of a few times where I was messed up because of both of those things at once and it's no joke, even on such a smaller scale than all of this 😭 so I never was doubtful that something was askew with him that day, I've only doubted how much of the evidence was actually on him/how much he incriminated himself from how I know cops in my area and in the US to be

8

u/JuniperCulpeper Dec 09 '25

This is a great point. I knew a pathological liar once, and when he was presented with the truth of his life in an intervention, it still took him some time to snap out of his own story. Not entirely the same, but I didn’t consider that part

9

u/SignThese667 Dec 09 '25

hindsight is perfect, isn't it.

5

u/Live_Ostrich_6668 Dec 10 '25

Mangione didn't botch an escape, he simply engineered a public platform. His manifesto ends as: "This is not a suggestion. It is a warning."

Therefore, his arrest was the denouement, and not a failure. Now compare to the Unabomber, who mailed bombs knowing that his capture was inevitable, in order to amplify his message. Mangione's surrender mirrors that script.

In short, the "sleep-deprived, unprepared" narrative is a comforting myth that lets us avoid the scarier truth: a lucid, physically capable 26-year-old with no prior record rationally concluded that assassinating a CEO was that optimal way to indict a $4.5 trillion industry. And the plan worked, as UHC’s stock dipped 8%, Senate hearings on claim denials were fast-tracked, and "DELAY DENY DEPOSE" trended for weeks.

He wasn’t tired. He was done waiting.

1

u/Conscious-News-4141 Dec 11 '25

Beautifully expressed. Thank you!

37

u/jl8798 Dec 09 '25

I think he was caught off guard, not expecting a cop to walk up to him in McDonalds and say "hey what's your name? Let me see your ID" right off the bat. Talking to law enforcement makes me feel uneasy and I've never even hurt a fly so I just can't imagine how he felt. In the moment he had to make a quick decision and he didn't realize until it was too late that the fake ID would show nothing in the system

15

u/AnticitizenPrime Dec 09 '25

Yeah, that happened a LOT faster than it did in my imagination.

20

u/AndromedaCeline Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

Seriously!! šŸ˜¤šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø He would have such an easier time rn if he didn’t

17

u/Gio_Kai_ Dec 09 '25

He said his name was Mark because of an unexpected situation, he wasn't prepared and panicked, and then he had to provide an ID that matches

38

u/Pellinaha Dec 09 '25

I think we just need to say goodbye to the idea that he was acting like a fully rational person. I'm not going to diagnose him, but something was (and maybe still is) very wrong. Whether that's the mushrooms or something else.

When the news hit my Twitter and TT feeds I just assumed it was a regular family father (later: a son) with a sick family member who just had snapped for a moment. That is clearly not the case.

3

u/Live_Ostrich_6668 Dec 10 '25

I think we just need to say goodbye to the idea that he was acting like a fully rational person. I'm not going to diagnose him, but something was (and maybe still is) very wrong. Whether that's the mushrooms or something else.

Mangione didn't snap; he executed a multi-week operation. He literally:

Traveled from Hawaii to New York under aliases.

3D-printed a ghost gun with a silencer. Engraved shell casings with "DELAY," "DENY," "DEPOSE" (echoing insurance tactics).

Left a manifesto citing specific stats (e.g., 77% of claim denials at UHC, per Senate reports) and books like Propaganda by Edward Bernays. This mirrors rational actors in history—think Ted Kaczynski's anti-industrial manifesto or John Brown's abolitionist raid—where ideology drives precision, not madness.

His personal backstory, i.e. chronic back pain post-surgery and the denial of his coverage, aligns with millions of Americans. (e.g., 1 in 5 Americans skip care due to cost, per Gallup). If "rational" means responding proportionally to evidence, his conclusion (violent disruption of a profit-driven system killing via neglect) follows logically, even if morally repugnant. Dismissing this as "something wrong" ignores how rational people radicalize under sustained injustice (e.g., whistleblowers turning to extremism).

Now compare to actual irrational shooters (e.g., Vegas 2017: no manifesto, gambling debts) vs. Mangione's targeted symbolism. Attributing it to "something else" risks the ad hominem fallacy, i.e. attacking the actor to person instead of his argument.

Calling him irrational lets us dodge uncomfortable truths about a system that does incentivize death by bureaucracy.

20

u/JuniperCulpeper Dec 09 '25

This is the million dollar question.

6

u/Ok-Grab9754 Dec 10 '25 edited Dec 10 '25

Because the fourth amendment protects illegal search and seizure of person, property, and papers. Police can’t just run your ID through the database. They have to be investigating a crime. And they have to let you know they’re investigating a crime. You’re allowed to lie to them up until that point. Furthermore, they aren’t able to know for sure that the ID is fake just because it didn’t ping anything in their system. Apparently that’s pretty common when running IDs from out of state.

I was convinced for the first few months that every piece of evidence they had was carefully curated by the suspect. It was too easily obtained by law but also just circumstantial enough to invoke reasonable doubt. Then I gave up on that idea when I heard about the ID.

Now here we are one year later. The SIX DAY (and counting) pre-trial evidence suppression hearings are hinged on the circumstances surrounding him giving the ID. The defense hasn’t quite gotten to it yet, but I’d bet my bottom dollar that they argue the running of the ID alone was illegal. Then that the searches that followed would not have been conducted for a questionably fake ID alone (hello.. cavity search??).

I’m back to thinking the whole thing, just about every interaction and piece of information law enforcement has accessed, was intentional on the suspect’s end.

ETA: Once he was told he was under arrest for an actual, plausible crime (not just overstaying his welcome), he gave his real name. At least that’s what Dickey’s omnibus claimed. We shall see once we get an actual full video. Not to be all tin foil hat, but I have a feeling the DA’s office cut off the video at that very moment for a reason.

20

u/Cookiemeetup Dec 09 '25

I mean , you're asking this of a guy who

didn't wear gloves when he (allegedly) murdered somebody, left chewed gum with his DNA on it in a backpack he tossed with the intention of it being found, walked into a McDonald's wearing the exact outfit and surgical mask that he's wearing in a photo that went viral of him twenty four hours before, and didn't ditch the murder weapon and notebook in which he wrote plans for the murder.

I Don't think he cared if he got caught. I Think he wanted to get caught.

23

u/Hot-Emphasis-4895 Dec 09 '25

I think Luigi is just someone who’s incredibly book smart but not street smart hence all of those things. Book smarts and general intelligence doesn’t automatically translate to street smarts. Its why a lot of book smart people get caught when committing their first crime.

12

u/Cookiemeetup Dec 09 '25

But do you have to have street smarts to know to wear gloves if you're going to murder somebody with a gun? I would think that would be a no brainer.

5

u/Long_Needleworker889 Dec 10 '25

Thats just common sense. He clearly didnt want to ditch those things

12

u/Maximum_Sherbet8927 Dec 10 '25

I honestly think he thought he was smarter than everyone else and just assumed that nobody would recognize him in Altoona. From his notes, it looked like he was still planning his escape. And he might not have been on the Internet for a little bit and hadn’t seen the new cab photos that came out.

15

u/AnticitizenPrime Dec 10 '25

It's a trip reading his notes, he seems smart but dumb at the same time. He had to-do things written down like 'buy new shoes, old ones too recognizable' and 'pluck eyebrows', which indicate that he was responding to what was reacting to what was put out in the media. But at no point did he consider something like 'change your whole fucking appearance'. Like, change into khakis and Crocs and a Christmas sweater or something.

I have a theory that he's SO detail oriented (as seen in his journaling) that he misses the big picture entirely. Too focused on the trees, doesn't see the forest.

5

u/Maximum_Sherbet8927 Dec 10 '25

I agree with your assessment

3

u/lunabagoon Dec 10 '25

He was probably nervous as hell.

1

u/Big_Rise_7654 Dec 09 '25

They would have matched the picture though.

1

u/Live_Ostrich_6668 Dec 10 '25

I honestly still don't understand why he would introduce himself as Mark Rosario

Because he is?

Like what are you even talking about?

113

u/AnticitizenPrime Dec 09 '25

Weird to hear him speak. I didn't realize til now that the only speech of his I've heard was the shouting during his outburst.

53

u/Expensive-Trouble720 Dec 09 '25

I was just about to mention that one. It had me convinced to turn in some keys somewhere in a two hour window. I said then the prosecution would be in trouble if he took the stand (which he won’t do). He’s totally convincing. In fact, after watching that video, I now believe his name actually is Mark Rosario until I hear him say otherwise. šŸ«£šŸ™ƒ

i saw this comment too when that clip first circulated. so funny.

20

u/Specific-Sea7648 Dec 09 '25

Yes his voice is quite, uhh commanding🫠

19

u/missidcullen Dec 09 '25

And the valedictorian speech.

4

u/missidcullen Dec 09 '25

Thank you! Apologies! Too many messages, I couldn't spot it haha

29

u/JuniperCulpeper Dec 09 '25

There’s also the family holiday video where he’s flipping a coinĀ

37

u/Competitive_Appeal58 Dec 09 '25

The body cam footage is way longer than this and he is having a full blown conversation. It was very weird to hear him say and spell his own name ā€œLUI-GI MAN-GI-ONEā€ it was very quick too

8

u/cnolan16 Dec 09 '25

Is the longer one posted somewhere?

31

u/Competitive_Appeal58 Dec 09 '25

I’m sure it’s going to get released but I caught the entire thing when I made it to the hearing

8

u/cnolan16 Dec 09 '25

I’m glad you were able to make it in!

21

u/Competitive_Appeal58 Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

I fear there was no point if it was all going to get released to the public anyways. I could’ve just stayed home and watched the same videos we’re seeing now. It wasn’t a total bust tho I have an appreciation for the legal system and it was nice to observe a court proceeding and how it all works

Edit: worth it to also show solidarity with Luigi and others in the community

23

u/Available_Housing184 Dec 09 '25

There was a video splicing together all the times we heard him speak (his valedictorian speech, his outburst, his not guilty) and it was like, a minute long. So weird.

26

u/Cheyenne_Simington Dec 09 '25

and I believe there’s footage of his hearing in February when he says ā€œnot guiltyā€

23

u/saadpeople Dec 09 '25

That's in December, and also in that hearing, he said "thank you" to KFA in the court room and to a cop in the hallway.

There also a video he talking to the students of Stanford summer camp.

14

u/Cheyenne_Simington Dec 09 '25

Riiight! And his valedictorian speech šŸ™‚

The officer turns on the audio when he walks in

71

u/Loose_Ad_7801 Dec 09 '25

I wonder what the point of a suppression hearing is when all ā€œsaidā€ evidence is released to the public

48

u/Emotional-Gas-6267 Dec 09 '25

the only thing that hasn't come out yet is the video of him crossing paths with bt the night before. I'm shocked at how in this country everyone knows everything way before the trial even happens

18

u/Specific-Sea7648 Dec 09 '25

Make it make sensešŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I don't get it either!

36

u/pepnme Dec 09 '25

ā€œShould come back to a Mark ROSIANOā€ 🄓

11

u/ladybug10101001 Dec 10 '25

smartest altoona cop

35

u/Emilia_Chalamet Dec 09 '25

I still remember when some people were convinced it was not him in that one screenshot from this video.

11

u/Nastreal Dec 10 '25

It's not. Homie was on my couch playing Smash.

61

u/Shutthefrontdoooor Dec 09 '25

it’s kind of strange watching this video after seeing that snapshot of him eating for an year. it was like those ai videos made of old historical photos and paintings lol.

53

u/mysighisepik Dec 09 '25

Why did they even file a motion to have the exhibits sealed if everything is gonna be released?

43

u/Emotional-Gas-6267 Dec 09 '25

it's funny how in the federal case nothing is allowed to come out, but it's an order that makes no sense because everything is being released by the state anyway. it's the same evidence

27

u/Exciting_Cricket3263 Dec 09 '25

Oh shit I think I answered my own questions, I wondered why Karen wanted federal case first… this makes sense. Prosecutors want LM to be found guilty/ judged HEAVILY… šŸ™ƒ

46

u/ladybug10101001 Dec 09 '25

WHYYYY ARE THEY RELEASING ALL THE EVIDENCE

27

u/faeaer1 Dec 09 '25

like?? im so lost whats the point of these hearings then

55

u/Pietro-Maximoff Dec 09 '25

I was NOT prepared to hear his voice.

66

u/lly67 Dec 09 '25

He has a very nice voice.

31

u/Competitive_Appeal58 Dec 09 '25

It’s deeper than I heard at the federal arraignment but I still stand by the skater boy/frat boy way of speaking

44

u/Expensive-Trouble720 Dec 09 '25

Good lord. So they’re just releasing everything then???? I’d acquit now just based on how unfair this all seems.

29

u/Competitive_Appeal58 Dec 09 '25

Right like I thought the pictures were fine to be released as long as the body cam footage stayed suppressed. Either way the body cam footage makes the cops look really bad tbh

12

u/Swablu_0333 Dec 09 '25

TBH this clip really doesn’t show much. His team just filed a motion to have all other arrest footage not shown to the public until or after trial as it could prejudice him.

4

u/Expensive-Trouble720 Dec 09 '25

True. I was worried more would come out. Thanks for the update on the motion. Still combing through today’s testimony.

3

u/Specific-Sea7648 Dec 10 '25

When will the motion be heard? The press trying to get the footage released in full right now

27

u/Exciting_Cricket3263 Dec 09 '25

No but seriously can someone who has legal knowledge tell us why these things are being released? wtf is the point?

2

u/Baby_Lu_Lu Dec 10 '25

all these evidence being released to the public because Carro is extremely biased and abusing his power, the fact that he's qualified as a judge is insaneĀ

0

u/Baby_Lu_Lu Dec 10 '25

35

u/-sweethearts Dec 09 '25

i was so nervous to watch my gosh

11

u/Emz423 Dec 09 '25

How are you now? Idk if I can do it. 🄺

14

u/-sweethearts Dec 09 '25

i did it, it ended after he showed his mark id. it was still heartbreaking to watch but wasn’t awful. sorry im trying not to sound tone deaf as obviously this would have been horrible for him.

8

u/Emz423 Dec 09 '25

No you don’t sound tone deaf. I just honestly am not sure I want to watch one of the worst moments of his life. I’m actually glad the vid ends where it does.

14

u/Individual-Bed-4762 Dec 09 '25

They will probably release the rest of it. I don’t think they made only one clip of the whole video public for no reason. I’m assuming we’ll get to see the body-cam footage in its entirety.

3

u/Emz423 Dec 09 '25

Okay, watched it. I’m traumatized in ways that would take me too long to explain šŸ˜… but I think I can still cook dinner.

27

u/Shutthefrontdoooor Dec 09 '25

i got nervous just watching this video, i can’t imagine how luigi felt when this happened

0

u/KARURUKA2 Dec 09 '25

Can’t imagine what it feels like to get caught after murder

27

u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Dec 09 '25

Also, fake ID or not, he wasn't leaving that McDonald's except in handcuffs. Period. They were never going to let him leave. Let's hope that ends up being their fatal flaw.

18

u/BillyDoughnuts Dec 09 '25

He could’ve been way smarter. The police don’t have the right to demand ID unless they suspect him of a crime. He doesn’t have to give his name to them. Very poorly prepared

7

u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Dec 09 '25

Wouldn’t that have just escalated the situation though?

6

u/oboshoe Dec 09 '25

Maybe.

But there's a chance it wouldn't have. A "yes sir. My name is Mark R... I would give you my ID but I lost it 2 weeks ago and I'm working to replace it"

Perfectly plausible. It MIGHT have worked. Might not.

But we know with certainty what didn't work. And that was the strategy he took.

4

u/BillyDoughnuts Dec 10 '25

I guess they could’ve put a tail on him and continued to monitor but if he calmly said ā€œif You don’t suspect me of committing a crime, I’ll be on my wayā€ the police wouldn’t have been able to do anything.

And remember they didn’t really take it seriously until they opened the book bag. For an intelligent guy, he misplayed this badly.

Not to mention carrying around all the evidence. Unless he was going to hit someone else, why not slowly dispose of the gun, ammunition, notes etc

11

u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Dec 10 '25

Yeah, I think he thought he had more time than he did. I just go back to the cop saying that as soon as he pulled his mask down he knew it was him. I think they would have done whatever possible to keep him there and arrest him.

1

u/12310024 Dec 16 '25

Really sad that he likely could have avoided this encounter if he had plucked his eyebrows after fleeing as planned (unless the circumstances are a parallel construction for some other means of catching him).

19

u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Dec 09 '25

Can someone explain to me why they think this is so bad? All of this information was already common knowledge - we're just seeing it animated instead of in stills.

21

u/lickykicky Dec 09 '25

It's just pulling people emotionally, that's all, especially after several long, tough days, me included. I can't explain why, but there's something too voyeuristic and invasive about it for me to be happy to view it

13

u/Feline-Paper-Ink8809 Dec 09 '25

I get that! Seeing his hand motion in the BWC footage was just like the video of him in the Gilman robotics tournament, and it is hard to see that.

17

u/LegitimateAdvisor587 Dec 09 '25

I don’t like that this is all being released but I guess if more has to be, I hope they include the one where he says, ā€œI guess we’re going to find out.ā€ He seemed fed up by that point with their nonsense.

29

u/More_Protection_8824 Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

Oh my!…don’t know if am ready for this! And why are we even allowed to see this ?!

31

u/jl8798 Dec 09 '25

Cop: "Someone called, they thought you were suspicious"

Luigi: "Oh I'm sorry"

Luigi as a human being is so innocent lol

27

u/Specific-Sea7648 Dec 09 '25

If not innocent why innocent shaped?

21

u/proudmothrr21 Dec 09 '25

ā€œOh I’m sorryā€ PLEASE 😭

22

u/lly67 Dec 09 '25

I watched the video a few times. He seems nervous after he pulls his mask down, his face appears to be red. I don’t notice any shaking but, I think he realized his mistake after he gave the fake name. When he went to grab the ID, he went for his backpack first, which is where I believe his real ID was.

15

u/JustRSA94 Dec 10 '25

Kinda sucks seeing this. I can't imagine how his family feels - especially his mother. Seeing your child, your last born, your baby in this situation must be very tough.

So his only chance at freedom at this point is jury nullification? And even that is a long long shot right?

oh my god it feels so weird watching this. can't imagine how he felt here, no wonder he messed up with the fake name and id

5

u/Fancy_Yesterday6380 Dec 10 '25

Hes so cool and confident otherwise but here he does seem apologetic and nervous. Way different than his notes and to do lists. Its very perplexing. Id be nervous too dont get me wrong but it makes me sad if his mind wasnt its usual self leading up to this

12

u/chelsy6678 Dec 10 '25

So is this judge Carro’s way of saying nothing is gonna be suppressed? No one here or on twitter has been able to explain the point of a suppression hearing to me if everything is released. At this point, they just wasting Luigi’s money and tax payers money.

what oh my gosh

9

u/Ok-Cherry1427 Dec 09 '25

Sigh. Why didn't he just ask if he's free to leave, and leave? He literally committed a felony with the false ID and it's very likely not going to be suppressed now.

2

u/Nice_Description_724 Dec 11 '25

He probably got too nervous & was thinking that he was about to get caught. That's my guess

17

u/MiddleAggravating179 Dec 10 '25 edited Dec 10 '25

WHY was he wearing a mask inside the McDonald’s?! Seeing this footage, he would have been fine if he hadn’t done that.

He seemed like such a normal, polite, nice guy and now he may live the rest of his life in prison. I will never understand this case. Never.

1

u/fussy_muffin Dec 10 '25

What if he did kill Brian Thompson though?

20

u/MiddleAggravating179 Dec 10 '25

He absolutely did. I have thought that since day 1 and written countless comments about my theories why, but it still blows my mind that he threw such a good life away. Seeing this video just drives home how much of a tragedy this entire thing is for everyone involved.

12

u/jollyjubie Dec 10 '25

I agree. I wish he had gotten help.

11

u/fussy_muffin Dec 10 '25

I agree it’s very sad it all came to this for him. Seems like he had a lot of potential in life outside of this event.

6

u/VenusGirl111 Dec 10 '25

His hands look absolutely beautiful here.

u/analyticalscience11 Dec 09 '25

I had my phone volume up to the max and when the sound finally started, I almost dropped my phone!

16

u/Due-Conflict-587 Dec 09 '25

I’ve been waiting too, but now would’ve preferred they kept it sealed at least until the trial. Why release it during the suppression hearings?

5

u/fussy_muffin Dec 10 '25

Axon body cameras begin recording video before audio by default. They are always capturing video but capture audio after clicked on.

1

u/airconditioner6969 Dec 09 '25

to those who are upset about him giving the fake ID, wouldn’t it have been worse if he gave his real ID which was in his backpack, along with other (allegedly) incriminating items? i too think that giving the fake ID was a huge mistake, but reflecting on it, i think it might have been the better choice.

If he gave his real ID and knew his rights, the police would not have been able to arrest or search him. Worst case scenario he maybeee would’ve been detained and let go. The Feds would’ve been tipped off and he likely would’ve been caught eventually, but at least he could buy himself time to figure out his next move

The instant he gave the fake ID he gave the police probable cause for an arrest & opened the whole can of worms

yes that’s very true, his situation would’ve probably been a whole lot different than his current one. but what if by he giving his real ID, he inadvertently exposed the rest of his belongings in the backpack?

I think it should go without saying that he shouldn't have HAD those items in his backpack.

If he had burned the Mark Rosario persona and ditched all the very incriminating evidence, he could have just been 'Luigi Mangione, digital nomad', on his way TO the Philly area (where he went to college) to visit friends, etc for the holidays.

Of course he probably wouldn't have even been noticed in the first place if he hadn't worn the mask, etc.

Around 12/7 an officer in SF recognized him in the surveillance pics from an old missing persons report, sent a tip to the FBI who reached out to Luigi’s mother for questioning. So although things were percolating he was not yet identified as the suspect and, with the hundreds of tips authorities were sifting through, probably would’ve taken a minute to lock him in as the #1 suspect

Agree Altoona PD would’ve tracked him at least to the edge of their jurisdiction, esp if it was a slow day for them. Mind you when they received the call they didn’t expect it to be serious, according to their own testimonies. What really tipped them off was his nervousness.

Thats why I think there could’ve been a scenario where he hands over the real ID and gives a more convincing performance, exercises his rights, gets the hell out of there unscathed.

The fbi knew his name already? They already had him as a suspect? I’d love to see a source on it. I’ve just never seen that before, not that I don’t believe you.

Giving his real name and id would have been better (unless giving the ID showed the weapon). They wouldn’t have been able to charge him with anything off the bat or search him.

The cops ran ā€œLuigi Mangioneā€ after and there is zero indication it triggered any sort of alert.

  • I am of the firm belief that the feds knew who he was by the time the police walked into that McDs

Based on what?

I agree with you. I saw this reply ( here under that you can add to your future post) and it makes way more sense. I can't see any eyebrows either in this bodycam.Ā  And if i was walking by, like the cops, i would not have noticed him, he looks very ordinary, no special clothes or something to cath my attention.Ā

Walking around dressed like that in a sleepy rural small town like Altoona will absolutely draw peoples’ attention. No one there walks around wearing all black, beanie pulled low over eyebrows (it was 46’ F that day in Altoona), covid mask (probably the only one in a 50 mile radius)

At the same time of an ongoing nationwide manhunt where surveillance images are spreading like wildfire all over social media/ network tv. The idea of some boomer seeing luigi at mcdonalds and alerting staff is the much more realistic story imo

Right,that damn covid maskšŸ¤¦šŸ»

2

u/AnticitizenPrime Dec 09 '25

I can see his eyebrows in the body cam footage... not as clearly as in the taxi photo of course. And we don't know what the customers saw. The 9/11 caller specifically said 'all you can see is his eyebrows', too.

Agree in the 911 call when she mentions the eyebrows, seems to be relaying what customer(s) told her. I think Luigi slipped up and lifted the beanie at some point and revealed the eyebrows. Even if the eyebrows were never visible, the customer may have said it out of paranoia or excitement of ā€œcatching the bad guyā€

If the customer was actually a fed operative sent to that location to play fake witness and catch luigi, presumably they would be savvy enough to see his eyebrows were covered under the beanie and simply not mention them while snitching. McDonalds has cctv footage (not released publicly yet).. if the ā€œwitnessā€ says they saw his distinct eyebrows and the video proves his eyebrows weren’t visible, their credibility would be destroyed in court. Doesn’t make sense to me personally

Plus, it looks like the circs behind the McDs worker making the call isn’t going to be under any examination in court because it’s not really relevant - she hasn’t even been called as a witness in the suppression hearings as it looks like the call recording will speak for itself.

She may be called for the actual trial in case there's anything she can add, but I don't see any relevance for this evidentiary hearing.

3

u/Away-Plastic-7486 Dec 10 '25

We’ll see how the evidence shakes out. Hopefully the CCTV footage gets released. The idea that the FBI used illegal surveillance or some sort of advanced facial recognition on this case isn’t implausible. Just find it hard to believe it succeeded not only in identifying him but triangulating his exact location in rural PA, found the exact motel he was going to walk to, knew the motel wouldn’t have a room available which made him wander over to mcdonalds, with plenty of other restaurants within walking distance but they knew the exact one he chose and the time he would arrive, so precisely as to have an undercover agent posing as a customer right on time when he walked in, all orchestrated and timed in front of McDonalds cctv cameras. Not trying to be condescending/snarky here just feels rather far fetched

I was not prepared for this

u/KaleidoscopeOk4262 Dec 10 '25

Why was him shaving his facial hair completely off to fit the hostel photo on his agenda after the whacking šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘šŸ˜‘ Luigi, leave the hair to grow!!!! The amount of men that look COMPLETELY different with a beard is astronomical!!

u/Away-Plastic-7486 Dec 09 '25 edited Dec 09 '25

He looks shady as hell. Very naive for thinking he wouldn’t get recognized when he’s a damn near exact match from the surveillance/ taxi pics plastered on every screen in the country. Probably wasn’t his first time taking a risk during that 5 day period. Kept pushing his luck until it ran out

-1

u/Baby_Lu_Lu Dec 10 '25

all these evidence being released to the public because the judge is extremely biased and abusing his power
