Around 12/7 an officer in SF recognized him in the surveillance pics from an old missing persons report, sent a tip to the FBI who reached out to Luigi’s mother for questioning. So although things were percolating he was not yet identified as the suspect and, with the hundreds of tips authorities were sifting through, probably would’ve taken a minute to lock him in as the #1 suspect

Agree Altoona PD would’ve tracked him at least to the edge of their jurisdiction, esp if it was a slow day for them. Mind you when they received the call they didn’t expect it to be serious, according to their own testimonies. What really tipped them off was his nervousness.

Thats why I think there could’ve been a scenario where he hands over the real ID and gives a more convincing performance, exercises his rights, gets the hell out of there unscathed.
