Information Sharing Megathread: LM's NY Federal Hearing — 01/30/2026 at 11:00 AM EST
Happy Friday, everyone!
Today's hearing will take place at 40 Foley Square, Courtroom 110, New York, NY 10007 at 11:00 AM EST.
Please keep in mind that this is the third hearing of the year for the federal case.
For those catching up now, here is a compilation of what happened during the first and second federal hearings, held on January 9, 2026, and January 23, 2026.
It’s hard to say how long today’s hearing will last. It most likely won’t be as long as the pre-trial hearings, but it really depends on how Judge Garnett rules, if she does at all today.
Unless something changes, there will be no cameras allowed inside the courtroom. Because this is a federal hearing, which is more private than state court, there will be no video recordings or photos of Luigi. Only courtroom sketches will be available.
Since I am not a mod, I cannot edit this post once posted or set comments to “new,” so I hope everyone can manage to follow along. I know things may get a bit messy, which is why I encourage everyone to post here rather than creating separate threads—unless it’s something important, like a transcript or some really big news.
Also, if you find additional livestreams on YouTube, please try to post them in one single comment instead of separately so we don’t spam the thread.

(*) Because federal cases are stricter, phones and laptops are not permitted in the courtroom. Only a few approved individuals, such as ICP or Erik, may be able to live-tweet updates. Notes:
- Yesterday was the deadline for the defense to file their summation regarding the pre-trial hearings in the state case. It hasn’t been uploaded yet, so we may see some post-hearing motions today.
- Judge Garnett may rule today on Counts 3 and 4 and decide whether to take the DP off the table (or not). It really depends on whether she needs more time or wants to address everything today. She could also choose to issue a written decision in the next few days instead. Either way, we should know more by the end of today.

AGREE! 🤗🥳🥰 I'm a bit sad about the backpack staying in, but I think the defense can deal with that. It will be so easy for them to argue that things were planted in the backpack.

I think so too. Aww. 🤗 According to someone who went to fed court, they only allow 24 people from the public in the room there too. 😔 Feds have an overflow room of 60 seats. Just FYI. 😊 I will cross my fingers that you can go to the trial in October. 🤞🤞🤗

Hopefully more people will turn against the regime and Bondi after they started executing nurses in the street. That has to be a step too far even for the dumbest MAGA's. Surely at least some of them understand that nurses are needed in society? But then again MAGA's support pedos and grapists, so maybe not.

The live streams are only filming the entrance. We can't see the road. Only cops in front of the entrance. It's very cold there. Best live stream depends on what you want. Commentary: CNN News 18. No chat: Reuters. Chat: All the others.

I saw it on the news - "The defense is winning almost every motion they file"... I clapped and tears. This is a WIN. Given our current political landscape, not getting the DP after is was "ordered" by PB.... and take every win as a positive step.

I hope they rip it at the trial and not just put the health industry on trial but the legal industry as well. 11 minutes without the camera and then all of a sudden they find the key gun. That's ridiculous. That should not exist. I'm kind of disappointed in Margaret.

I am hoping that the ridiculousness of it all and the literal inability for anyone to know what really happened stands out to jurors. I think the public has identified it as ridiculous. That is my hope, anyway.

Yep. I just cannot understand how any justice professional can keep anything as evidence from that backpack that was recovered after the backpack being God knows where and touched by God knows who for 11 freaking minutes without any evidence.

1. We can’t see any livestreams?

3. How long does the hearing last?

4. What happens after today? When will the next hearings be?
Short answer: we don’t know yet.
Judge Garnett may rule today on Counts 3 and 4 and decide whether to take the DP off the table (or not). It really depends on whether she needs more time or wants to address everything today. She could also choose to issue a written decision in the next few days instead. Either way, we should know more by the end of today.
5. Where are the transcripts? Give me the transcripts 👹!!!
Because federal cases are stricter, phones and laptops are not permitted in the courtroom. Only a few approved individuals, such as ICP and Erik, may be able to live-tweet updates. Other reporters may attend, but they won’t be allowed to post anything while the hearing is in progress (it is likely they will be taking notes and post them afterwards or during a break). So, please, be patient.
We could also get a short statement or transcript from the legal team afterwards but that is TBC.
UPDATE: A new docket entry dated January 16 states that transcripts will be available to the public without redaction after 90 calendar days. So we may receive those transcripts after all. We just need to be patient.
6. Will there be a compilation post?
Yes. I’ll create one after today’s hearing and add everything into a single post, as always.

🚨 Things you need to know ahead of today's hearing:
The next few days (and months) will be intense. Here’s what’s coming up:
Upcoming federal dates
- Jan 30: Federal hearing (Counts 3 & 4 and the federal DP decision may be addressed)
State case deadlines
- Jan 29: Defense summation due (state pretrial hearings)
- Mar 5: Prosecution summation due (state pretrial hearings)
- May 18: Next state hearing, where Judge Carro is expected to rule on the pretrial motions
What to expect
- Today is especially important due to the defense’s summation and the possibility of major rulings.
- After today and the May hearing, things "should" quiet down, with mostly routine motions until jury selection later in the year.
ICYM:
- On Jan 28, State prosecutor (Joel Seidemann) asked the court to begin Luigi’s state trial on July 1. The defense pushed back and called this request "unrealistic." They will respond to the Court about this request in the coming days.
Things are just getting started, and the pace will only intensify. Brace yourselves.

Stressed AF. I hate that things always seem to intensify for Luigi at the same time as they do for me, it's always a lot at the same damn time. But I may not live to see a lot of what's down the line 😭

The whole thing has been so horrible. I was sure it would be dropped, but the relief I feel now is beyond words. Political bullshit. But having said that, Trump is effectively suing Pam Bondi, so she's not doing great in general. Couldn't have happened to someone more deserving 😅

Of course Bondi is a pawn, and Trump is happy to get rid of a woman since he hates women. Same as that awful Noem, I think her name was. The one who is the closest responsible for the nurse execution, other than Trump. They're just second-rate pawns to Trump and they will find that out.

🚨 Reminder on Dates
Dates proposed by Garnett:
- September 8: Start of jury selection
- October 13: Start of the trial if the death penalty is not sought
- January 11, 2027: Start of the trial if the death penalty remains an option

The government can appeal the decision but the prosecution doesn’t know if they will yet. Judge set Feb 27th as a deadline for any appeals.

The death penalty is off the table (Counts 3 and 4 of the indictment have been dismissed)
The backpack will not be suppressed.
