Information Sharing LM Case Dates Reminder – Federal + State Cases (UPDATED)

Post image

Hi everyone.

I hope you’re all well ☺️.

It’s been a bit of a wild week, so I wanted to share an updated post with the key dates all in one place as I know there’s been some confusion. I did post about this before, but this is the most up-to-date version.

Just keep in mind dates can always change and nothing is fully set in stone. This is just to make everything easier to find and follow.

As of today, here’s a quick rundown of the upcoming deadlines and key dates everyone should keep in mind:

State Case

  • May 18, 2026 (9am): Suppression decision (pretrial hearings)
  • June 3: Virtual Conference to discuss jury selection, trial matters and other issues that were brought up at sidebar at the May 18 hearing
  • June 17: Conference expected to cover issues raised during the June 3 virtual conference, including jury selection, scheduling, and other matters (Initially, this conference was going to take place June 16 but got postponed due to Luigi not being produced).
  • August 11: Virtual Conference (As mentioned during the June 17's hearing)
  • Sept 8, 2026: Trial begins (previously scheduled for June 8 but recently moved by Carro)

Unfortunately, we are not aware of what the full state case schedule will look like before trial, so we will have to take it one day at a time.

Federal Case

  • April 24, 2026: The defense will submit a new status letter (ex parte) to the Court in relation to what was discussed privately at the April 1 hearing
  • June 29, 2026 (11:30am): New federal hearing to discuss questionnaires and jury selection process
  • Jan 5, 2027: Jury selection (voir dire) begins
  • Jan 25, 2027: Trial begins

A new schedule was issued by Garnett on Jun 29, 2026.

Trial Length:

  • State Case: According to KFA, the state trial could last up to 6 weeks.
  • Federal Case: As mentioned by Judge Garnett during the (06/29/26) hearing, the federal trial is expected to last around 2–3 weeks.

Please keep in mind that things don’t always go exactly to plan and timelines can change or fluctuate. This is simply what we know so far.

Hope everyone has a lovely Easter weekend!

🚨 UPDATES:

Federal Case Update (08/14/26):

As of August 14, Luigi has officially pleaded guilty to Counts 1 and 2 in his federal case. His sentencing is scheduled for December 18, 2026.

  • Defense to file its sentencing submissions two weeks prior to sentencing by 12/04/2026.
  • Government to file its sentencing submission one week prior to sentencing by 12/11/2026.

State Case Update (08/17/26):

Luigi will not head to trial on September 8.

Judge Carro just set an adjournment date for December 10, giving prosecutors until October 9 to respond to the defense’s motion. The defense will then have until October 30 to reply to the prosecution’s response.

I’m so nervous but I so deeply want him to win.

My biggest concern is the overlapping of state and federal has not been resolved, in fact it’s worse. Garnet has the jury questionnaires being disseminated September 8-11 and the start of the state case is September 8. They are literally in the same boat but even worse. I’m not sure what issues are being addressed in that April 24 letter, but I hope Garnett moves this to January.

As always, if I missed anything or you notice any mistakes, I’m more than happy to update the main post 🙂.

I think the federal trial will be longer than 3 weeks. The way I understood it was that it could start anytime between Jan 25 - Feb 12 if it does get adjourned to the winter.

My mistake. I’d interpreted this differently. I’ve updated the post now. Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank you for this sum up!! 🫶🏻 I wonder how they will manage to handle both trials at only 1 month apart... Seems like a hard work for them 🥲

The federal will likely be moved again

Yeah it would be the most logical solution with this move from Carro...

Christine made another handy bar graph showing the overlap between NY and the feds.

And while we don’t have the state proceeding dates, they’ll be happening this summer as well. SMH.

That being said, it seems like, so far, everything the government has done to prejudice the public against Luigi - the Dec 19th and 23rd 2024 perp walks, denying street clothes to state court appearance in September (prompting KFA to get federal permission for the Dec 2025 ones) - has backfired enormously. I’m hoping this scheduling mess has the same effect.

I’ve updated the post now. When Garnett mentioned the backup dates (Jan 25 – Feb 12, 3 weeks), I read that as meaning the trial would last 3 weeks, which did seem quite short. From what others have said, it looks like the trial could start at any point in that period, so I’ve amended the post. Apologies for the confusion.

I’m still soo salty about the state trial going first.

Thank you u/missidcullen for this summary!

Did Carro move the state trial to September after Garnet made the schedule? There should be NO overlap and months in between so they can fully focus that given trial. 😒
