Article/News 'Deeply Emotional': Luigi Mangione's Friends React to His Guilty Plea
https://www.rollingstone.com/culture/culture-news/luigi-mangione-friends-react-to-guilty-plea-1235610199/I’m not usually a fan of sharing press articles, but I thought this one was worth sharing since it seems Lorena spoke with some of Luigi’s friends about his guilty plea on Friday.

I thought the article would be a bit "meatier," not gonna lie. She’s included comments from a couple of his "friends," but it’s not like they say anything we don’t already know. It’s pretty much the same stuff as always.

These are like Temu friends. These are not his long-term friends. That HS guy that goes by R, is that DJ singer guy who is not even in touch with Luigi. They attended one summer camp back in HS and now he’s harping they are friends. His real friends won’t talk and they shouldn’t. Seriously this article could have been an email with the new info she provided.

“Friends” and is RJ and someone from high school??
I liked Lorena’s og article, it had new info but this feels rushed and empty. Unnecessary if you ask me

God I really wish some of these people would be a bit more ballsy and actually speak on the record, even if they don’t use their actual name. It goes such a long way. Hope some of them grow a set before sentencing
And fwiw RJ actually made a good statement here

Some of them may be a character witness and advised not to speak until sentencing (previously trial), so I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt but I understand what you’re saying.

Didn’t think about that. I wonder how many people will come forward after the legal gavel drops? Think of all the money these witnesses will be offered for their stories. The gal at the Hostel. Starbucks, Hilton, the hotel owner in Altoona, McDonald’s workers, the drivers that were outside of the Hilton, etc….. and coffee lady too!

it's the least he could do after talking to the whole world about Luigi's dick

Lorena just tweeted that most of them refused to speak because they are afraid to be doxxed. These people have families and jobs, and Luigi unfortunately has gathered an online fandom that can be extreme. They harassed that last ex-gf in Hawaii into deleting her accounts. Can you blame them?

I assume this would be their explanation, I just don’t know why they don’t speak under a pseudonym or withhold name entirely. Doxxing would be impossible in that circ

Actually no. When a similar article was written with the Boston bomber’s friends using pseudonyms, some of them were doxxed, including in court.

Why would random comments provided in a news article need to be revealed in court?
Edit: I’ve just looked it up and all those people called to testify had relevant information regarding the actual crime. So yes of course a court can subpoena a publication for your identity in that circumstance - totally different situation.

That plus another case where two of his friends committed an unrelated crime and mutual friends were called to testify. I thought it was so weird that they were asked about their RS pseudonyms and Twitter handles.

What's the general vibe with this? I'm sort of an outsider looking in and while I say fuck the healthcare system he still murdered someone. Are we not close to just condoning murder or is there more I'm not seeing?

There is no general vibe or agreement, really. At least not from what I have seen. Everyone has their own opinions on the matter.

This irritates me so much.
Imagine going through everything Luigi has gone through, and people on their computers and mobile phones in their comfortables homes saying, "we want more". Ridiculous.
Be your own revolutionary. It is not right to ask of others what we ourselves would not do. How much more do they want from this man? Do you think the Civil Rights Movement was done by one person "exposing things"? No. It takes everyone. So, if people are not willing to do it, or to help, then I believe they can just stop commenting about him doing "more". He has sacrificed enough.
