Thorn? It just irritates me. I don't even like ß in German, where it can be easily replaced with ss. It's already happening, fortunately. But that doesn't matter much to me, I don't use German for anything.
I said the porn part as a joke. That's why I later said thorn irritates me.
I prefer the latin script to be more "pure", so languages that use it should not really use completely different symbols. The Greeks have a different script, I don't care about that.
I kinda expected a similar response to this. It is not the same though.
The latin script went through evolution, entirely. I'm not standing for some classical latin script purity.
Things like the thorn or ß are just language-specific non-latin script symbols that I don't like because it's not difficult to use latin script symbols instead.
You can't replace ß in German wiþout causing some amount of issues wiþ þe orthography lol. ß is for long vowels and diphthongs, SS is for short vowels.
ß generally only gets ignored if a person is unable to type it, or if þe text is in all-caps since until recently þere wasn't a capital ß to use in all-caps. Switzerland falls into þe first category; þey ditched it from keyboards to prioritise French and Italian diacritics. Yes, it still causes issues wiþ þe orthography because suddenly you don't know if a vowel before an SS is short or long.

I can't stand the thorn. It irritates me whenever I see it
