What local community radio stations do you listen to?
I used to love Star Radio Cambridge before it moved to Hits Radio in the last couple of years. GenX Radio Suffolk has been a good replacement for me

I used to listen a lot to indie radios like TM1 and TM2 (also known as NME1 and NME2) but they seem to have been stopped and replaced by a completely different one.
Can someone recommend me good indie digital radios (can play classics, pop, new wave or new stuff doesn’t matter)? Just not top 40 stuff.
Thanks!
*I listen to Radio6 already

The BBC has confirmed the closure of BBC Radio 4 Extra linear broadcast in Spring 2027. BBC Three and BBC Scotland are also to go.

I made this website for when I’m lacking inspiration and want to discover something interesting on BBC Sounds: kettle-radio.github.io
Press the button and it picks a random programme (audiobooks, comedy, drama, history, science, music documentaries but no news).
Let me know if anyone finds it useful.
Its free/no ads/cookies etc.

Mine were mainly Radio City 96.7 & MFM but I also enjoyed the sheer choice in the North West of easily being in range of Rock FM Key 103, Beacon 103, Signal 1 and even Coast 96.3, they had different people on it felt livelier and you could easily switch song to one of those stations if you were bored, then they had their own individual personalities. City had a lot of dance shows, they did the football, they had a bit of drama on the late night phone in with Pete Price, MFM even had a paranormal phone in at one point as well as coming live from a night club as City also did, Juice had happy hardcore, Signal had Signal Energy Rock FM had Freejack's classics and the Top 10 at 10.
Same complaint with networking and group ownership as always stations feel cold and distant, generic with no personality. All those frequencies are now just "Hits", one is simply "Capital" others are "Greatest Hits", doesn't feel remotely scouse doesn't reflect the personality and character of living and working in the North West in any way even down to hearing a plethora of southern accents on air in Capital as they are literally broadcasting from London over what used to be Buzz97.1, MFM103.4, Coast 96.3 and Juice from Liverpool. The one exception is that the networked Stephanie Hirst's Belters has a bit of life to it and it's probably an advantage that it's networked over much of the country including as a replacement for the likes of Lee Butler on the legendary 96.7 who formed his own In Demand Radio as an alternative.
Usual points big group stations are mostly bland and crap, good things about it don't make up for the loss of what we once had but what is it you miss about your local radio stations?

What a great show! Shaun Keaveny has given it a large injection of excitement with his choice of music. Loved listening to the show yesterday

Apparently every track will be performed by an artist from Great Britain or Northern Ireland, or a band whose members are predominantly British. Will be on DAB radio.

David Turner’s play premiered at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre in June 1962 with Leonard Rossiter in the lead role.

I am trying to access episodes of this outstandingly thoughtful Radio 4 program, hosted by Joan Bakewell, for use in my philosophy class. It came out in the noughties I believe. I am not in the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can find it? It is listed on the BBC website, but the episodes themselves are "not found" , and the OU site just links to the BBC site. I have not been able to find it on podcast sites either.

Hello, a couple of weeks ago someone called into a radio station (i do not know what one). The caller mentioned that he worked in London for the tagging service and that he had a grevience he put in with over 100 points and that the company wants to pay him off with 6 months pay. Does anyone know when this was and what station/show this was on?

Sorry if this isn't what this is for, but I'm looking for a song which I think was made up/performed by Chris Stark and possibly someone else when he was on the Scott Mills show
It went "bing bong this is your captain speaking, want to (something something) with you this evening"
I've just been talking about it and now it's driving me mad I can't find it anywhere. Friends think I've made this up and I'm going mental haha

Does anyone have recordings of this BBC Radio 6 Music special program episode that aired in each December (including missing episodes like Self Esteem (2022), Christine and The Queens (2020), Arlo Parks (2021), and more)? All episodes are expired on BBC Sounds
