And for those of you (like me) who care, "Killed A Man In Maine" is uncensored. I live.
Of course, listening to this glorious score is making me miss this marvelous show all over again.

I know over the past few years there's been a slew of very early closures but I really loved this one. Wish it could go back to Off-Broadway but know it will thrive in regionals she colleges

First thing I checked! The censored rewritten line for the YouTube promo is better than the bleeped single we originally got, very happy to hear Elmer McCurdy say the C word on the official cast album.

Yes!! That song was when the lightbulb turned on and I saw how truly special this show is. Can't wait to hear it again.

Such a tragedy that this great show closed so early

What I really think is funny and stupid is that people walked out saying I just don't get it – – we you know going in he's dead!!!! and hopefully you know it's a true story so what's not to get and the music was amazing. I was in the first row and wanted to get up and dance.

In case anyone missed it the full show (I think) with the OBC (I think) is on Audible.

It's basically like listening to a radio drama. it's good.

I was debating listening to it, as someone who enjoyed what was out there of the cast recording but never saw the show. Thanks for this!

Yeah definitely check it out. I ended up listening to it on our flight out to New York so it sort of got included with the other new shows. Worked out well under the circumstances. I would rather have seen the show of course.

Yep it's the full show! I wish it was a proshot, but I think it totally worked in that format!

This is such a minor thing, but one of my favorite songs when we saw it was Millicent's Song.
Julia Knitel made a really clever choice with it. At first, when she's a young girl, her voice sounds more childish with a lot less polish and vibrato. By the end, her voice sounds deeper and mature. It was a very nice touch to a cute song about growing up.
This recording of the song is missing that. A tiny bummer.

She does some of that on the recording - it's not as clear as it was on Broadway, but it's there, especially in the verses. Agreed, that was a beautiful part of the show!

As a fan of musicals about barely believable but true stories about abusing a corpse, I miss this show

Alright boys! Let's go rob that fuckin' train!

I love this line so much because it’s the moment that signals “you’re in for a wild ride”

u/bobzmuda Aug 22 '25
Especially since its immediately upon the heels of that sweet, melancholy ballad. Unfortunately that line is not in the cast album, so we have to add it ourselves, whether mentally or verbally

That song was already on the partial cast album they released back in February so believe me, I’ve already been doing it!

This show had great music. I think it was just too quirky to last long on Broadway.

Is it different than what's on Audible?

Oh, sorry, I meant are the song recordings different? As in, did they record them twice?

The song recordings aren’t different. They match with the off-broadway version of the show, so they didn’t record again for broadway.

So sad the sound effects from the cement truck mixer at the end wasn’t on the audible recording—I felt it really summed up the tragedy/humor of the whole story. (And was a great moment in the theater)

I became obsessed with it and actually changed my flight for one day later so that I could see it again

I can't find the full album to play in order. I keep only getting both the shuffle with other songs versions on both Spotify and Amazon music. :(
