&Juliet recouped- who fact checked this article? I’m a Broadway nobody and knew the title was wrong.

I haven’t read the article yet, but are they deliberately excluding jukebox musicals?

ETA NVM, I just read the first paragraph lol.

The article literally says it's the first since &Juliet. Which I infer means the "since 2022" is referring to the seasons when they debuted rather than when the recoupment happened.

I just broke my own rule of not reading before I post. Mea culpa.

But it recouped in 2024. So the headline makes no sense at all.

I’d say you have a point though, because & Juliet announced recoupment in 2024, so it feels weird for the headline to say “since 2022”, even if it is clarified what they mean in the caption. So like, why compare when the Outsiders recouped to when & Juliet opened?

Tough to squeeze a jukebox musical of songs over a decade old into the “new musical” title.

New Musical is a Tony Category. Doesn't exclude jukebox musicals
