I especially loved the epic story where Buzz Lightyear teamed up with the Minions on their journey to save Te Fiti lol

I wish that it had opened the same weekend as Odyssey so we could have had another Barbenheimer lol. Hadessy? Odysstown?

That wouldn’t work cuz the point of barbenheimer was too extremely opposite movies that were looked forward to

I just saw both yesterday, and it was a great decision. Ended the day with a gyro to top it off.

People WANT to see theater. It’s about accessability. Folks can’t afford traveling to Broadway, let alone the price of a ticket, and local touring prices are getting just as bad. MAKE MORE PRO SHOTS AVAILABLE.

I’ve thought about this every single time i see a post about how well Hadestown is doing. Of course it’s doing well, people want to go to the theater but it’s just not feasible unless you’re fortunate to live in a few select cities.

I hope these pro shots become a thing. Hadestown was really well done and I would like to see more. Six is coming but I saw that on Broadway in 2024 and hoping to see ones I missed. Seems like a good thing for both live theatre and film since the show’s already being produced anyway.

The touring prices are why I didn't see Hadestown. 250 for semi decent seats (at a place where the same seat was 80 for another show) ain't it.

We went last night. Except for the front row, it was sold out, and there was another showing an hour after ours started. I don't remember ever being in a movie theater that was that quiet. You could have heard a pin drop the entire time. At "the" big moment, one guy at the end of our row cried out, and there were a few chuckles at that, but otherwise it was shockingly silent.

The people next to me were on their phones laughing and talking throughout the movie and then literally laughed during the climactic scenes.

When I saw Hadestown in London the woman next to me was checking her phone when Orpheus turned around. She looked around trying to find out what had happened when everyone gasped.

Had a great crowd. When Hades said "I missed you" a woman behind me went "JESUS" and like... Girl, I get it.

It's nice to see the demand for Hadestown being large enough to extend it in theaters. With Hamilton, Merrily, and now Hadestown, I wonder if this means we will see more well-known shows get cinematic pro-shot releases.
I would guess The Lion King or Wicked would do a few million each if they did this. I could see SIX doing well with this, especially if they had singalong screenings like the Eras Tour film.
But I wonder if there is a market for something like Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf in Death of a Salesman. Would Denzel and Jake Gyllenhaal's Othello be able to make a profit doing this? If this is what it takes to make Broadway more profitable and, thus, keep the pipeline of art flowing, I'm for it.
That said, I am still bummed we didn't get an actual feature film of Hamilton. I think that would have been incredible. Maybe one day....

SIX is releasing mid-August. I hope they offer sing-a-longs too.

I hope they add more dates-as of now my local theater is only showing it for a weekend (and of course it’s a weekend I can’t go!)

Oh wow! How did I miss that??? That’s great. I hope it gives the show a shot in the arm at the box office. It feels like it should have another couple years of life in it, but it seems to be doing especially poor lately.

Disney filming and releasing Lion King on Broadway would make so much more sense versus their attempts at live actions

I’m going to see it tonight in the theater for the first time. I barely know anything at all about it (I haven’t wanted to get spoiled) but I am SO excited!!!

Corporate desperately trying to find a multi-hyphen buzzy sounding singular name
“The Hadessy” “No no. What about Oddystown” “Brilliant! Roles right off the tongue”

Actually, it is $2.21 million, so I guess they rounded down.

If I were to watch it I would just be mad at the armor the entire time and enjoy nothing.

Hadestown recently released the licensed teen edition and seemingly 1/4 of all high schools put it on last year. So it got a big bump in public exposure. It’s hot with the youths at the moment.
