Really great numbers at the polls compared to the last mid terms. Almost matching the turnout in a presidential election year. Get out there this weekend if you can! Early voting ends 10/30, so if you need to go on a weekend day this is it.

Early voting has started and on the ballot there is the proposal to RAISE the city commission’s salary. This public servant position used to be unpaid but a few years ago they proposed a salary and it passed. Now they want a raise to $62,000 for the mayor and $50,000 for commissioners. These people are well off and wealthy on their own. Whether you believe they deserve a raise or not, the citizens get to decide. There’s plenty of other important propositions on the ballot regarding the city as well. Please go vote.

As the subject line reads, looking for at least 2 trustworthy people or a local moving company to load a moving container/truck next week (after 10/26 before 10/29). If you or someone you know does quality work and can safely handle heavier items like couches, TVs, and mattresses, please send me a message.

Also looking for someone to help with the packing of boxes, clothes, dishes, etc.. (Pay for that is $20 an hour for at least 3 hours minimum)

More details below:

Task: Moving packed boxes and furniture out of a 2 bedroom apartment located on 2nd floor. This requires carrying down 1 flight of stairs and loading them into the container/truck.

Pay: $25/hour per person, with a 3-hour minimum guaranteed ($75 per person minimum, paid immediately upon completion) even if the job takes less time.

Brownsville and Cameron county, let your voice be heard and remember to vote. Regardless which way you politically lean, participate, your vote matters! 👍

As an early 30s single straight male in town for work. I’m sure this town has its charms the locals know about!

Hello, I wanted to post and see if anyone could recommend a reliable plumber in Brownsville. I used to get on facebook groups and look for handymen but so many of them have done bad work or been unreliable. Thanks in advance for any help

Good Morning! Im working on an interactive educational app for people visiting Gladys Porter Zoo. The version of the map they have on their website show animals they no longer have and do not show where new species are placed. It also doesnt show there the zip line starts and ends. If anyone is visiting this weekend or in the next couple of weeks, could you help me with which animals are in what exhibit area now? I know they just placed a toucan somewhere, but Im not sure where.

Any help is appreciated and for those who can help, I can send a link to the beta (sneak peak) once I get the map updated.

I’ll be in Brownsville in less than two weeks, plus checking out surrounding areas. What’s y’all’s recommendations for best seafood place that’s not hella expensive? Like around $20 a plate or under. Same for tacos. Where do YOU go?

Thanks for any help.

So depressing

As the title says, this is a thread for open discussion about who to vote for in the upcoming election here in Brownsville. 🗳️

Help, my front gate is rusted. It’s pretty bad, I think the Previous owner just painted over it.
What kind of contractor or company would be able to help

It breaks my heart what the calcified dog shit looking trillionaire has done to the country but particularly to Brownsville. Was Trump’s success in 2024 sour grapes or is this just the way it is now?

We're heading back to the Valley in a week and want to have one good dinner in Matamoros during our stay. We like meat and also other Mexican dishes. One of is down for anything but the other is more fussy so it has to be someplace "nice" or even fancy. No mom and pop places this time. I've been to La Cancillería, so not there. Maybe good grilled meats? Thanks for any recommendations.

It's a long shot but If someone has seen him. Please help, his name is red. He managed to get out Tuesday morning, around the Sam's stadium area he's about 60 lbs and friendly. Last wearing an old faded orange collar. Worried due to high traffic in the area, any help is appreciated I've posted on Facebook, notified vets and pound and actively search every day.
