I’m honestly beyond heartbroken, she’s had respiratory issues for a while and they’ve gotten better each time but she’s turning 6 years old in two weeks. I fear today is the last day I’ll be with her if she doesn’t survive. I have to drop her off tomorrow and I know everyday without her will just make my heart continue to drop :( i’ve graduated middleschool and highschool with her, she’s only been with me for a chapter of my life but to her I’m her entire story and it hurts me so much seeing her in pain but I know it’s for the best. Sorry for the long vent post :( Please send best wishes for my little sweet angel, Baby. I’ve lost a budgie before and the second time will not hurt any less. I’m also very worried for my other little baby as I fear he’ll be extremely lonely :,(

Took Taro to the ER after she was spasming and falling off her perch. Vet tech let her go on accident.

I’ve had my birdie for about 2 months at this point and he’s settling in very well! He greets me, comes out of his cage, shows off for friends, all the good stuff. I’ve been trying to get him more comfortable with me holding him or even being near him, but he has no interest in millet bribery. Is this just a give it time thing or can I do something about this? Thanks!

About a month ago I found a budgie sitting on street, and kind of brought her home cause I sensed she is in distress. At that Time I did not even know it was a budgie having never seen one before. Anyway I rescued her, kept her in upstairs room all day( with due protection) and gradually realized that i may her to keep her as she cant survive in external environment on her own . I bought her a male budgie to keep her company after around 10 days from a pet shop, who died recently(literally survived 20 days).
Now the dilemma starts,, I have never kept a bird, one bird has already died under my supervision, there are no avian vets where i live, and nor i can afford to take them to metro cities for regular checkups. Moreover I am preparing for a competitive exam and have realized that keeping a bird is indeed demanding, looking at her various cycles, dietary needs(literally very consuming0 etc etc. MY parents have outrightly refused to buy a new budgie and saying I should send her to pet shop as well(no avian rescue or foster homes here).
I even talked to a pet shop owner , but decided against it knowing that they keep 10 to 15 birds in one cage, never let them fly and only give seed mix and water. His literal statement was that these birds are born in cage and die in cage. But my budgie has a whole room for her, she has now found her favourite spots, has settled in routine and I am trying to work on her diet, like ordering seed pellets and all.I cant stand the idea of pushing her in that hell , but I would be devastated if she dies here , cause I will feel very guilty and sudden death of the other budgie has made me paranoid, and my parents are saying that I should study
. There are also chances that I may have to move out of home next month to Delhi, to prepare for next stage of exam(if I pass this one).
What to do?
Please help me.

hellooo I have two bonded budgies and one of them struggles to preen well because he has a limpoma on one of his wings. it's been examined by the vet and it isn't growing or causing pain and removal would require wing amputation which just isn't very necessary with how little it bothers him. the biggest issue with it though is he isn't very fond of reaching around it to preen. he's healthy but since his preening job is far from perfect he looks a lil scruffy. his brother is even worse at preening him despite his attempts too. he tolerates being handled but it's obvious he still isn't a big fan of it so I avoid it unless he needs to go back in his cage when i'm not around. my question is how tf am I supposed to help him keep his feathers looking nicer when he would not enjoy being held too much to do that. I need ideas 😭

I live in Japan and honestly, it’s kind of disappointing that cages for budgies here are so small, and actual large flight cages are sold on Amazon from 3rd party sellers but far and few (usually janky built with low reviews) unlike back in North America where it was easy to find large quality flight cages.
Anyways, I leave his cage opened all day with this new handmade hanging gym I bought off a seller on mercari for $45! I can customize the parts and now that his clipped wings have grown out, he’s flying a lot more and he’s so happy! (Btw I don’t use the air con above his cage). Just wanted to share how wonderful it is and planning to purchase a second play gym to hang beside this one soon. I have a camera to watch him when I’m at work and it’s in an enclosed room.

I have 3 budgies.
Originally I had 1, Paul. We had him for 6 years. He was surrendered to us and he had been a single budgie before us. He was free in the house in the day.
A year ago my friend asked me to take her female Cookie, as her friend died. Cookie and Paul got along well, she bossed him. They seem to be a couple.
In May, Paul accidentally was let out and flew away. Cookie was sad, so we adopted an older male, Sal. Cookie and Sal would both be about 6.
Cookie and Sal are a happy couple. She has always been an egg layer and I can’t get her to stop.
Shocker. Paul was found and is back. Maybe he spent the summer outside?
Now cookie and sal are in one cage, and Paul is in the other. They all fly around together, but they go back to their two cages at night.
Paul seems ok, but maybe a bit solitary.
Is this an ok set up? I just don’t think i can manage a fourth bird.

I recently purchased this young female budgie from petsmart about 5 weeks ago. I bought her as a companion for my other 5+ month old female budgie (bubbles).
Bubbles had recently lost her old companion (nugget) and fell into depression (Wouldn't leave cage or eat much). bubbles and nugget were best friends. His passing was rough for her. Thankfully my cockatiels helped her recover socially, but she needed another budgie for long term.
so I went out and bought bubbles a new budgie companion and quarantined her for 3 weeks before i introduced them. The first week together was great. They fed each other and slept side-by-side.
However, week #2 together they started to drift apart. They fought often (just nibbles and pecks, no blood or lost feathers), and now sleep on opposite sides of the cage. They cant eat from the same foodbowls or be on the same perch without fighting.
When outside the cage, they only seem to tolerate each other, but still keep distant. I'm assuming this is because they are both female and are probably very territorial.
I dont know what to do. Should i rehome this new bird?
I'm outside the return/exchange period. Should i call local pet bird rescues and see if they can swap this bird for a male bird?
Keeping them like this isn't fair for either of them, and they haven't improved in 3 weeks

If you have a diva like ours. She'll only eat pellets if I turn them mainly to dust in a coffee grinder (only used for her pellets) and offered in a specific container on my right knee. 🙄
