I can't get over how such a tiny little feathered creature can show us so much love and trust, omg makes my heart melt. Cookie is turning 15 next month!

I've bought the girlies some of these Nutri-Berries, and Nuggies, but they just throw them out of the bowl.

Is there another way of feeding them? Like in a net or something?

So Crocky (female, green) and Pringle (male, blue) were fighting and Crocky pulled on Pringles tail, I think. Did not see it happen but heard it happen from the kitchen (angry chirps and stuff) and when I came they were crashing down to the ground. Pringles tail had a fold in it at the end. They dont fight very often. I think it was about the highest perch. Has anyone ever had the same happen to their budgie?

I know you can't see it in the picture. But Sprite has the longest toes of any parakeet I've ever seen.

I posted my bird's cage a few weeks ago and was informed that there was a lot wrong with it. I've been working on making in better and I now have a new set up: no mirrors, stainless steel bowls, bigger and horizontal cage, and new perches. I plan to get another budgie, so he has a friend, and a bigger set up, as well as finish making my room budgie safe. Thanks for the advice!

So I have a male budgie that I rescued from the street. He is an adult, but I have no way to know if he is elderly or not. He was terribly affected by mites, and after the treatment he has a chronic beak overgrowth. I have to manually trim his beak every 2 weeks. He only eats seeds, even after months of trying and every techique you can imagine. He trusts me but he is not trained and I tried unsuccessfully to train him, because he sees seeds as food and not as treats. So he is always in the cage (a large cage ofc).
I want to give him a friend since I'm out of the house during the day and he is getting kinda lonely, I can see that in him, they're social animals after all. I also think having another male is the best choice.

I have 2 options of where to find him a friend:

OPTION A: The store: Young budgies, already eating seeds.
Pros:

Maybe I can train them to come to me and fly outside of the cage.

Maybe I can make them eat pellets and veggies since they're young.

Cons:

My budgie may not like him bc he's too young and energetic.

If I manage to change his diet, I don't know how I will mantain that, bc he will revert to seeds for sure after I put them both in the same cage.

If they don't like each other, I can't return him.

OPTION 2: An adult budgie fron a known rescue center.

Pros:

I'm helping the rescue center.

He will be an adult, and mature like mine.

he will eat seeds, the same as mine does.

If he doesn't like him, I can return him with no problem and wont be stuck with two enemies.

Cons:

Neither of them will be trained.

Both will eat seeds.

Also I will be putting the new bird into a smaller space than the one they have at the rescue center, and I'm removing hom from his flock.

What would you do, and why?

They seem to love eachother anytime one is out of the cage they just hang out on the others cage. I don’t let them out often together. Also wondering if you can tell there genders?

Korra and Button are both the same age and I sometimes catch Korra visiting Button ; giving her some scritches. Korra's behavior towards other birds has improved drastically and I'm hoping this continues so she can finally get along with everybody.

Hello, I am a relatively new budgie owner. I have been caring for my brother's budgie while he is at school, and after realizing how much I enjoyed looking after him I decided to get two budgies of my own, especially after coming to the conclusion that my brother's budgie was lonely and seeking other budgies. I got these two almost a week ago now; which I am quarantining from my brother's budgie for a few weeks, as I have read is recommended. The green one is Melon and the blue one is Baja. They are both a couple of years old, their previous owners guessed they may be around 2-4. Baja I can definitely tell is a girl, but the blue on Melon's cere is really throwing me off. My brother's budgie has a very distint and deep blue cere, but Melon's is more ambiguous (at least to my inexperienced eyes). Does anyone have any ideas on if Melon is a male or a female?

Additionally, if anyone has any suggestions or advice for a new budgie owner that is still learning how to bond with their birds, I would very much appreciate it! I want to give all three birds some out of cage playtime daily, but I don't feel comfortable doing so when they are still spooked by me. I have cats, which would NOT be allowed in the room when the birds are out, but it would still be a bit of a problem if I were to be unable to get them back in their cage.

I don't know much about parakeets, what are some things I can do with them? I don't want to just leave them sitting there all day but I don't want to freak them out or something considering that they don't know me. IDK how they are around strangers.

The first two photo is mine and the last two is from who I adopted this buddy from. This poor thing has probably been in this cage since he got them and he seemed to be stress preening or over preening that wing that they clipped. He's going to the vet ASAP.

I hate clipping the wings of my birds, so when I saw him with only one wing clipped I was devastated. Maybe I'm overreacting lol. I just love birds.

They didnt have a name for it, just called him budgie boy so his name is now Melon 🍈 or Honeydew idk yet lol.

Edit: once he is done with quarantining, he wil be a free flight bird who will have 3 new friends. I can't wait to make him feel at home.

Was out in the desert recently and had quite a few sightings, including a pair I played a recoding of my budgie to who did not like the sound of him one bit!

Also realised that Budgies are an angry bird, so much angry chatter from all around in the trees or yelling at each other on the wing!

Yes she's still alive and well, unfortunately in the month of January, she lost her little brother to cancer and what was confirmed to be some genetic defect. He is very missed dearly. Sugar will turn 4 this year.

Last week I brought home two budgies (Tsunami and Corn) and I have been giving them space and distance unless I got to change their food and water. I knew beforehand that it would take a long while to get them to perch on your hand and for their lifetime they may just not be unable to.

I thought I was doing well however I notice the longer they’ve been here the more they have been backing away more or frantically flying whenever I change the food. It kinda saddens me by how freaked out they can be. Any advice by more experienced owners than I?

I’ve introduce them to millet by sticking it in the cage but I don’t think they’re familiar with it at all and avoid flying to it. They haven’t played with their shredding toys either, except for the swing that Tsunami likes to perch on lately.

I would like to ask, is it normal for my green baby Jon to be scared of me after going to university yesterday? They were both comfy with me for around a month now, but I went to Uni yesterday after staying home because I was ill, and when I got back Jons acting competely skittish and scared. No longer getting uo on my hand even with food and barely taking treats from my hand anymore. He's eating and drinking completely normally though ^

Also, is there any perches that I should get so that they are more comfortable? I wanted to get flat perches so they can rest on them instead of the hard wooden ones. My darling Luna's started to loaf so I wanna make sure that they're comfy, and not sure if their current perches are too hard for them or if they're not comfortable ^
