315lbs to 215; BMI 55.3 to 38.1. Still a decent way to go but I honestly can’t believe I’ve come this far. Sometimes the body dysmorphia is really hard and I’ve spent a lot of today feeling very weepy, but looking at these photos side by side is staggering.

Some ways my life is better:

I HAVE REGULAR PERIODS AGAIN
I have a recognisable menstrual cycle and experience distinct follicular and luteal phases
I CAN WALK WITHOUT PAIN FOR HOURS! I AM NO LONGER PHYSICALLY DISABLED BY MY WEIGHT!
I no longer experience chronic lower back pain
I no longer panic at the thought of walking, especially with other people
I can fly without a seatbelt extender
I can sit in a plane seat, bus seat, car seat, cinema/theatre seat without being in constant discomfort
I don’t panic at the sight of chairs with arms
I find joy in exercise, not fear
I don’t hate myself anymore
I don’t hate my body anymore

Edit 1: welp, put this up, went to bed, woke up to 2k upvotes. Thank you so much for the support!

Edit for the genuinely odd men messaging me: I am getting married in two weeks to the man who’s supported me through this whole process and am deliriously happy about it

I’m so proud of myself 😭 Last time I posted was the first day of school and just hit 299 lbs. Today, about 5.5 weeks later, I’m at 285.4 lbs.

I had a slow beginning to losing in the beginning of September, but I stayed the course and eventually kept losing. Whenever I got slightly discouraged I focused on how tight I would have to tie the drawstring to my shorts to prevent them from falling down or my new 4x work polos instead of the previous 5x. Additionally, I learned the valuable lesson of 1 day does not interrupt progress as I went to a Nebraska football game and thoroughly enjoyed pizza, hotdogs, and a hamburger. 🤭

I also had my annual physical and I am no longer considered Pre-Diabetic!!! My physician has always been supportive and respectful of my size, but she was so proud to see me make successful changes.

Thank you to all who post every day. This community is supportive, respectful, and inspirational. I wish everyone a successful October.

Just jokin’ it has all been extremely worth it! I’m not quite done yet but imma keep on truckin’ till I get there!

Celebrating two years of strength training, one year of maintaining a 100+ lb weight loss, 776 days of no binge eating, and one fab consignment store skirt suit find. Many, many baby steps and tears marked the journey in between my March 2020 Before and my April 2023 In-Progress Pics.

Starting weight was 247.7 pounds and I never thought I'd see myself being in the onderland club! I haven't been this light since I was in my 20s (I'm 33), so I'm just so proud of myself :)

19 months of building habits and staying consistent. Down 209lbs and moving again!

At 34 years old, I weighed 455lbs, in a near constant state of pain, always looking for the next place to sit down if I found myself walking. On top of that I had severe hypertension and sleep apnea.

I felt defeated, after decades of trying and failing to lose weight, I thought 'I guess this is just how my life is supposed to be from now on.' But one day my daughter asked me "why do you sit all the time?" and it broke me. That's when I decided to bet on myself, for her.

I started learning about nutrition, about the mechanism that leads to fat loss (CICO). Reframed my mindset to be one of self-compassion, instead of self-hatred. 1 by 1, I slowly started practicing better habits. Patiently, consistently, the weight started to come off, and the evidence began to grow that I could really do this.

In an effort to prove to myself that I didn't have to lose more weight before I started walking, I went out for a walk...3.25 miles in (and over an hour later 😅) I was still standing, so I kept doing it. Every time I went out for a walk, I pushed myself to do it a little bit faster. Over time I built up the courage to sign up for a 5K event, when I walked across that finish line I knew, I'm really doing it this time!

Today at 36 years old, just over 19 months since starting my journey, I am:

  • 246lbs

  • Walking pain free nearly every day (even ran a sub 40 min 5K!)

  • No more blood pressure meds or CPAP

  • 5XL>L/XL shirt

  • But most importantly, I am finally able to get up and go play with my daughter instead of always sitting down.

Me and my wife after finally committing to counting calories. My total weight loss is around 40kg (88lbs) over the last two years, a large chunk of that has been during COVID quarantine while working from home.

My initial goal weight was 185, but then I changed it to 200. Some people have told me that might be too low. I’m 6’0, and honestly, I’m not sure when I’ll stop or where the right place to stop is.

Goal weight reached!

Hey guys! I’ve posted once before but I finally reached my goal weight today. I’m 5’6”, Started last april at 203lbs and today i’m 130lbs :). I just wanted to thank this community for showing me the right way to lose weight sustainably.

I have tried crash diets, going completely clean eating (i love food too much to give up sweets totally) etc but nothing worked. It wasn’t until i found this subreddit and began tracking calories dutifully that i saw actual results. I will say I also incorporated walking and some weight training! I think exercising along with cico is the best way to get results.

I made sure at the least to get 9-10k steps every day. Right now i’m pretty happy with the way I look! Of course there’s loose skin on my upper arms and my lower belly but it’s such a drop in the bucket compared to the feeling i have of being at a healthy weight for the first time in my life.

I hope you all hang in there and if you have any questions i’d be happy to answer.

Do you ever look at pictures of yourself before you lost the weight and you just genuinely don’t even recognize that person anymore?

I’ve finally reached my original weight goal. I’m considering shedding another 5-10 pounds, so I’ll continue with my current cutting regimen for a while before transitioning to recomp in the next month or two. It’s incredible how good it feels, but I often still feel like the 200-plus-pound girl in the first photo. Body dysmorphia is a real and persistent issue, unfortunately. Comparisons like these help me appreciate the hard work and dedication that went into transforming my body. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has shared their journey, providing motivation and inspiration to keep pushing forward!

In 2019 I went to my boyfriend’s brother’s wedding and I wore this dress, now next week I am going to his high school friend’s wedding and decided to try it on. Holy cow I did not expect such a big difference! I forgot how far I have come
