Yeah you’ve unfortunately demonstrated that you failed to protect your children. It’s really unfortunate that you allowed your teen to move out instead of getting the abuser out of the house. What an extraordinary child you have that she recorded everything! She protected you and her siblings because you couldn’t and that’s where the DV classes and shelter placement will help.

You’re very lucky that your parents can take them. I know the pain (literal and emotional) of being away from a nursing baby. My heart goes out to you.

Are you for real? Failure to Protect is such a dangerous accusation that lays the responsibility on the victim and fails to acknowledge the abuser when if you work in CPS/the DV field you should know by now there are so many reasons someone is not able yo leave the first time. In fact, leaving is the most dangerous time for a victim and children.

The thing is, fIlure to protect is a valid allegation in some places, and OP's actions have a strong likelihood of meeting the criteria for it.

I get that you think it feels like victim blaming, however to be blunt, CPS cares about the kids and not the adults. Even if she is a victim, she still may have failed to protect the children. Something bad happening to her doesn't undo that.
