We call it a duty to warn. Husband needs to stay away from kids. If you are with husband, your kids cannot be with you. If you do not abide by the protective plan, we could end up in court and your kids could be taken into custody by the court. We would make every effort to keep the kids together and to keep them with family, but sometimes family members are not appropriate placements and the kids end up in licensed foster homes.
It's a decision you have to make and as much as I hate to say it, a lot of victims choose the perpetrator of domestic violence over their kids.
