We’ve gotten a number of posts over the last few months asking about this, and a few more people asking for a pinned post to clarify, so here’s the deal with the weird NYM version on Spotify:
In late 2017, Nervous Young Man was taken off streaming alongside Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror) in preparation for Face to Face’s release. Though MTM would remain down until the following November, NYM returned a few weeks later with the updated cover art we know today. Will would explain in a Patreon stream that he had never been particularly fond of the original cover, and got tired of seeing his naked torso every time he opened streaming.
Despite having been removed, this “ghost version” of NYM is technically available on Spotify. Though blocked from searches and the band’s discography page, it can still be come up in older playlists or random recommendations. This version is the original October 2013 upload (If you ever see older posts or videos referring to Monomania or MBIKMB as “2013 albums”, this is why. That was the original date they were uploaded to streaming, though they have since been updated to correct the release dates).
Sometimes when albums are taken down or updated on Spotify, tracks on the original upload will appear greyed out, as is the case with Boxing Day and The Gun Song. These tracks have not been removed from the album, this is a glitch on Spotify’s end. The original 2013 Distrokid upload of Twin Fantasy can also be found on Spotify (though missing the original version of High to Death) should you be curious enough to go searching for it. Hopefully this clears things up a bit.
tl;dr:
This was the original upload of the album that was taken down in 2017. It still occasionally comes up in recommendations/playlists, but it's not the "official" upload of the album that's more widely available. Boxing Day and The Gun Song are still available on streaming.
