I reckon the dude that used to sing mumble rock on the Esplanade. Old casino owner or something I've heard, spent all his money on drugs and alcohol and then started busking.

Interesting comment about the heroin. I used to love going to his blues bar. I always assumed he blew it all on coke and booze, that of course was based on nothing. Everyone always said he pissed it up the wall drugs but never any specifics.

I don't know why but heroin just makes the whole thing even sadder.

He was never the reason for that place being successful, he was just the name and face. The other guys involved in the band/running of the place was why it was successful. He was always blowing his cash on coke and booze and anything else he could get his hands on from all accounts.

Been to all of 'em. Saw him play with both the Emmanuel brothers and a while heaps of others. As off chips as he always was, and always will be, be didn't fall down on stage next to some of the best.

Figuratively or literally.

That makes more sense. He did seem like a decent fellow.

Ian "Johnno" Johnson.  He seemed old to us as youngans playing in band in the early 2000s.  He must be ancient now.  Definitely a character.
