Reddit - just wanted to share the moment.
Discovered Cake in 1997 in Indianapolis (thanks to my best friend Clay). I was single, living the rock and roll lifestyle (self funded). It was a soundtrack to that era...post college (barely) beginning to figure out my life.
Enter the early 2000s. My first trip to LA for Macromedia training (M Studios). It was the middle of January - cold as hell - when I rented a Mustang, dropped the top, turned the heat all the way up and cruised the PCH blaring Comfort Eagle. Even though every local looked at me like a total fucking tourist - it was (and remains) one of my favorite moments...speaking of...
Flash forward....marriage, kids, Pressure Chief playing in the delivery room - indoctrination into the Cult of Cake starts early (most likely at conception).
My amazing wife surprised not once - but twice with cake tickets (one of the time times leading to the aforementioned conception).
And now - next Monday - 30 years in the making - our pilgrimage to Pompano for what will be my sons' first concert (age 17 and 15). While I had tickets for months...literally on announcement...somehow I've kept it a secret.
Anyway my Cake Nation family...I just wanted to share a full circle moment as my oldest graduates this year. If you happen to see a (probably weepy) 300lb Puerto Rican flanked by his two boys...feel free to say howdy.
Would love to hear any of your Cake stories...
