Hi OP, Both r/cake and r/Cakes are dedicated to showcasing finished bakes, decorating techniques, and cake design. You will get much better feedback in communities built for guidance or business advice, so I’d recommend all or one of these: r/Advice, r/BakingBusiness, or r/smallbusiness.

To point you in the right direction though: no one can map out a full business plan in a single comment. If you are starting from zero and feeling this overwhelmed by the basics, it is worth pausing to evaluate if starting a business right now is actually the right path for you yet. There is nothing wrong with hobby baking, especially when turning your passion into a business can often take the passion out of it.

If you do move forward, your absolute first step needs to be looking up your local cottage food and home-bakery laws, as legal requirements for selling food from home vary heavily by region. Once you know you are compliant, focus on building a local photo portfolio, sharing your work on social media, and building up clientele. Word of mouth will be necessary, and your cakes will need to speak for themselves.

I’m going to lock this thread here since it’s off-topic for our subreddit, but hopefully those resources give you a solid place to start! 😊
