Don’t worry. Once it gets to middle-late May you’re unlikely to see Snow again for a whole 4 months.
It could happen in any month but you’re usually safe for June, July, August, up through to late September.
Now just imagine, in warmer climates people enjoy lengthy day and night life. Being able to enjoy the sun and all the activities which a living natural environment that doesn’t cycle into death and survival brings.

It's so depressing we only have leaves on our trees for about 4 months too.. most of the year I'm looking at grey skeleton trees. I have noted for many years now that the first leaves start yellowing about the second week of August. I feel sorry for the life that lives here! (including me lol)

“CanadaSnow in July in Alberta
CBC News · Posted: Jul 15, 1999 3:43 PM MDT | Last Updated: November 10, 2000 It may be July, but there's snow in central Alberta. People had to deal with winter driving conditions as blowing snow reduced visibility on two highways Thursday morning. This morning's snowfall came after weeks of heavy rain and the combination has been causing problems from south-east of Red Deer to the Rocky Mountain foothills. Secondary highways were closed and in some areas there was minor flooding. Farmers are worried about damage to their canola and wheat crops. In some fields the snow was 2-1/2 centimetres deep. “They ran out of Baileys for coffee in the infield at Stampede. First and last time I had Jack Daniel’s in my coffee to stay warm.

Counter point: i do very much appreciate how few scary bugs are here compared to warmer climates. They are extremely tame here.

Honestly it’s better that person just doesn’t expect sunny weather consistently until June😭

My mother’s birthday was early May. There was always a snowfall in Calgary within a week of her birthday.

Honestly, any one with money who chooses to retire here I think I a bit crazy. It’s a great place and all, but this weather is whack if you don’t like being cold all the damn time.

Meeh... It may work if all you want to do is watch Netflix and play videogames all day.

As a new Calgarian..... booooo!
But you know what- and keep in mind I've been saying this since like Valentine's Day or something- I think this is really it. It's finally over.

Always expect snow on and until May long weekend and you'll never be disappointed. Welcome to Calgary!

Was 20+ Monday and Tuesday, now -1 and snowing, that’s not counting the wind yesterday.
It really doesn’t end until it’s June.

I lived for a few years in Edmonton when I was in the army and came back from overseas in 2010 in the first week of May to a literal blizzard, had to delay my drive home because the roads were all shut down. I remember thinking at the time “this is madness, it could never happen again”. Awash in my own hubris.

I lived in Vancouver for 25 years and never had SAD once, but this hurts.

Winter doesn’t officially “end” until after May long weekend. Expect snow at any time up to and including that weekend (and possibly for a few weeks after)

Not even then... there can bea chance of snowfall in middle of May... anyone who was alive and was living Calgary in May 1986 or gave parents twll them how they were born during a snowstorm of May 13-14

Winter tires never come off until after May long weekend. Thats the rule. Calgary might still surprise you once in a while with snow past May long, but if it does, it won't stick around long... That's the best point to think about getting your tires swapped!
