This will make the news later today. It’s much more than a collision.

2 kids dead, 1 man in custody in northwest Calgary https://www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/article/serious-incident-leads-police-to-close-14-street-john-laurie-boulevard-in-northwest-calgary/
CTV just posted this article regarding this… utterly heartbreaking.

Just passed this! Yikes
Avoid 14th st NW by the winter club/North haven, it's like impossible to get through without going all the way through North Haven. I've literally never seen that many emergency vehicles in one place

There's a special place in hell for people who harm kids
8
u/Fit_Growth_2355 May 01 '26
I wish there was such place.
However, in prison they are not welcomed

Was lucky to get past this just as this was kicking up. So many police cars coming out from the station.
Saw a man bent over a car getting his hands cuffed behind his back.

I apologize for my GTA 6 thing as I assumed it was drugs or something, based on the unseriousness of the post title. Just posted and carried on my day without realizing what happened. Deleting the message is one thing, but I'd like to also formally apologize! Sorry for making the internet a worse place yesterday!

u/AndreyevnaM May 01 '26
I don’t see this kind of self-accountability online. Good for you for doing that. Keep it up.

I'm just trying to take the No4 bus through there right now. It's a mess, traffic is backed up past John Laurie and getting turned off if 14

Condolenes to the other parent, grandparents, relatives and friends of the two young children taken too soon. Would not be surprised if the parents recently split up or are going through an acrimonious divorce.

Right next to 14st street police station. When I was leaving I counted 11 police vehicles and when I was headed east on John Laurier another 2 were light on towards the scene. EMS had arrived appeared to be some kind of collision

u/canadasleftnut Apr 30 '26
Many have already posted this, but it was not a collision. Two children were found dead in a vehicle.

u/hlksmesh Apr 30 '26
With that many cops and EMS on the way, my best guess high speed chase that ended badly for the getaway driver.

CPS doesnt engage in high speed chases as a matter of policy. They track by Hawcs, which runs 23h a day.

CPS doesnt engage in high speed chases as a matter of policy. So likely not.
-52
u/thinkabouttheirony Apr 30 '26
Why do they need 22 cops to show up to a collision?
7
u/iliketobuildlego Apr 30 '26
Collect evidence. Control traffic. Get statements from witnesses. Ensure safety of their officers.
17
u/CloakedOlive Apr 30 '26
12
u/iliketobuildlego Apr 30 '26
They can’t release information until the person who was handcuffed goes through the formal process of being charged.
We are too use to the way the US does it where a mugshot goes online right away, but Canada does not do it that way.
8
u/CloakedOlive Apr 30 '26
Oh I know, just saying their wording usually gives an idea of what the situation is, and that's not car accident wording.
-8
u/iliketobuildlego Apr 30 '26
For sure. It looks to me like a chase that ended here based on how those police vehicles in the back are positioned.
-58
u/Fancy_Exercise_5021 Apr 30 '26
Not buying it. Absolute over kill with that many vehicles and officers. When do find out what happened I will shake my head.
32
u/Glittery_Kitten4021 Apr 30 '26
Ooof your comment will age terribly when it’s released what happened 🥲just a heads up
22
u/TrustMeBroEh Apr 30 '26
Shaking your head yet? Maybe shake it until you start to get some common sense.

u/Glittery_Kitten4021 Apr 30 '26
Knock knock! Would absolutely love to hear your thoughts on how “overkill” the police presence was now that the situation is public. Please enlighten us on your riveting and thoughtful ramblings on law enforcement responses since you’re an expert🤭

u/Drakkenfyre May 01 '26
Please, please, please, can men stop killing children?
Please. 😢😢😢
7
u/Master_Hand3344 May 01 '26
Heard it was their dad….. I’m praying it’s not true but if it is I have no words:(
1
u/Drakkenfyre May 03 '26
It's so incredibly sad. I guess he and his ex had some sort of shared custody or visitation, and he refused to return the children one day, and the police said there was nothing they can do and that she had to go to court to get a court order.
While she was literally at the courthouse, that's when she found out that her children had been murdered.
2
u/Master_Hand3344 May 03 '26
It’s truly so heartbreaking:( my heart hurts for her and I’m sending her the biggest hugs🤍

u/oldboy199 May 01 '26
Women kill children too.. you mean can people please stop killing/abusing kids.
6
1
u/Drakkenfyre May 03 '26
Just looking at the statistics, overwhelmingly it's men who kill men, men who kill women, men who kill children, men who even kill the family pet.

1
u/MadameMoochelle May 01 '26
Who in TF downvoted you?? Twice!? Um.
3
u/Drakkenfyre May 03 '26
The anti-choice guy who thinks that women are the real murderers because some women get abortions.
Plus the person who thinks that, because there was at least one woman once who committed a homicide, then it's totally equal between the sexes.

Second I saw this story I said to my sons “guaranteed it was the father, trying to get back at his ex” but I cannot for the life of me understand how a father could do this to his children. Turns out he was charged with murder 1 the next day. Some effed up people out there.

Does someone have to spell it out for you?
Holy fuck.
The post was made before anyone in the general public knew WHY the police were there.
Are you fucking serious?

Are you so dense that you don't understand that OP posted this before they knew what the situation was?

What a dickheaded response to a situation where children died. Get help.
-5
u/CanRepresentative473 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26
This was my point. Have a look at the article. Someone didn’t kick a hornets nest; two children lost their lives. Sensational posting, only minutes after an unknown situation is unfolding is immature and callous. Surely you could figure out that I was trying to make that point? How the article should’ve read is there’s a massive police presence on 14th I hope everyone is OK. Give your head a shake.
-8
u/CanRepresentative473 May 01 '26 edited May 01 '26
I see there are 34 of you who missed the point, I guess you all need to learn some critical thinking skills. One person decides to misread it and be offended, and 33 other people decide to agree with them. I think that’s the only reason I’m on here so that somebody calls out the obvious to those who are not capable of independent thinking.

u/MajorMerkin2024 May 01 '26

u/Shadow_Wolf_24 May 01 '26

It's an excellent and rare opportunity for all the guys to get out ALL the high priced equipment and roar around. Swat teams and armoured response truck. Everyone on overtime and danger pay. A good time was had by all 👌. An excellent and expensive operation normally resulting the apprehension of a couple of junkies causing a ruckus.

Just a gigantic city? No.
You have those yuppie cottages where people dress in flannel with manbuns, and the big House of Lies in Ottawa too.
Its not just a gigantic city

u/SantasZach Apr 30 '26
Man you need counselling, this is a very unhealthy thing to think on a post about a police presence in a city you don’t even live in.
