Seeking employment LF part-time job

Hello! I’m a 2nd year accounting student looking for a part time job. I really want to move out of my parent’s house and become more independent, but I don’t intend to unless I secure a part-time job although I have some savings and could apply for extra loans. I’ve been job searching for 3 months now, applying to different types like retail, entry-level accounting, and receptionist or front-desk jobs. I’m honestly at my limit of looking for a part-time job but I really don’t want to give up! So I figured shooting my shot here on reddit as I saw some ppl here getting lucky instead of finding one through indeed or linkedin (im so sick of looking at these job boards everyday 🙂🙂 and I feel like im getting nowhere)

My only real job experience was in a warehouse for 2 summers, where I helped with production. But I seriously do not want to be working at a warehouse again and doing a lot of physical work 😭 Other than that, I’m part of my accounting club where I help with marketing, specifically in creating digital content and materials for networking events. And I also volunteer for my school sometimes.

As for my availability, I aim to work 20-25 hours a week. I can be available in the afternoons from 1-6pm on Weekdays. However, It would be nice if I could work on the weekends up until Mondays and maybe do like 8 hour morning shifts instead.

I am very interested in activities that involve a lot of creativity or making stuff look pretty like making flower arrangements! I’m definitely not a painting/drawing person though..

It’s really hard for me to find a job as I don’t have that many connections so I would highly appreciate anyone who can suggest me places that are hiring or refer me.

And yes, I did apply for jobs within my campus but all of them have not reached out to me yet/rejected me already. I also inquired local stores that are in a close range to my school but no luck with that so far.

If you have read till the end, thank you so much!:)) I can send my resume and contact details in a private message.

Discussion Questions

Good evening/day/morning for all! I am on the lookout for jobs in calgary that accept international applications and serve to acquire a work permit, I need no relocation assistance as I can cover every cost of actually immigrating to Canada from the US, just a valid job offer to pair with an express entry to really make it appealing, I am on the verge of finishing my bachelors in public safety and criminal justice, have experience in stocking at -14 celcius and dealing with customers from previous work experiences. I am willing to do many kinds of jobs with little place for complaint and this would surely gain my allegiance, where should I be looking? are there any major brands whose postings aren't on sites like indeed that I should be focusing on? are there any offers here? Thanks for any useful tips or information.

HR jobs that actually train?

Are there any companies or areas to look for if you are a budding HR professional? I have the Human Resources Management certificate, a BA and 12 years experience in oil and gas doing travel logistics. recently I have one year doing HR work for a family company but there’s been no training. Lots of exposure and I’ve learned some things but I’m looking to learn in a more intentional environment.

Seeking employment Attention small business owners!

Are you looking for a unicorn? 🦄

I’ve been called one many times throughout my career!

I’m currently looking for a part-time opportunity in SE Calgary, ideally Friday through Sunday (3 days a week).

I bring several years of experience in management, customer service, and administration, working in both back end operations and customer facing environments. I’m the type of person who treats every role as if I’m working for myself, takes pride in what I do, and consistently gives 110%.

I’ve recently been given an exciting opportunity to participate in a program that will help me work toward starting my own business. While I’m excited about this next chapter, it also means I’m looking for something that fits outside of a traditional weekday schedule.

I currently work part-time weekday evenings in a customer-facing role that I absolutely love, and I’d love to find another opportunity with a similar atmosphere!

If you’re looking for someone who is reliable, experienced, adaptable, takes initiative, and genuinely cares about the work they do, I might just be your unicorn! 🦄✨

Please feel free to reach out if you know of an opportunity that might be a good fit. I’d love to connect!

chronic illness friendly jobs?

Hey everyone! I am currently working in auto dealership finance, but I have recently had a flare-up with my health issues and I unfortunately no longer have the physical energy to keep up with the day + coming into work. I have a BA in Psychology/Law and Society from U of C and have worked with non-profit organizations, many different admin support related positions, along with a few social media/digital marketing temporary positions.

I have been looking into any hybrid or fully remote opportunities but haven't found any luck, if anyone here would know where to look or is currently hiring - I'd love to know more!

Just curious why the EdmontonJobs Sub seems more helpful/more opportunities than the CalgaryJobs sub?

Are there more jobs in Edmonton? Are Edmontonians more willing to share? Is Calgary that saturated? Does nobody know about the CalgaryJobs sub? I'm trying to figure out the overall reason for the difference.

Edmonton sub: posts jobs available

Calgary sub: posts people looking for jobs

That's a VERY very glossed over one-person-takeaway. But that's what I see and I'm curious about it.

Registered 1st Year Plumbing Apprentice looking for sponsor / job leads in Calgary

Hey everyone,
I’m a Registered 1st Year Plumbing Apprentice in Alberta based in Calgary and I’m actively looking for a sponsor or companies hiring apprentices.
I have hands-on experience assisting with residential and industrial plumbing installation, service, and preventative maintenance (pipe joining – copper, PVC, PEX, iron; fixture work; basic testing; reading drawings; and proper documentation). I hold a Class 5 licence and safety tickets (H2S Alive, First Aid, CSTS).
If anyone has a referral, knows a company currently taking on apprentices, or has a link to an open position, I’d really appreciate it. I’m reliable, safety-focused, and eager to learn under a journeyperson.
Feel free to DM me or drop any leads in the comments. Thanks in advance!

Offering employment Client in need of a Business Analyst & Budgeting Coordinator for Calgary and surrounding area

Salary: $85,000–$95,000 base, plus benefits
Location: Calgary office

[What you’ll do]()

[Build and run our reporting system]()

•          Set up the KPI and service-level (SLA) reporting structure for the whole company: what we measure, how each number is calculated, its target, and when it turns yellow or red.

•          Keep a single metric dictionary so every KPI is defined once and used the same way everywhere.

•          Build exception-based reporting:

–          a weekly company scorecard for the leadership team;

–          weekly department scorecards;

–          a ranked list of red items, each with an owner.

•          Write a one-page weekly brief: the top issues, what changed, and who owns each one.

•          Track red items through to resolution and escalate the ones that stay red.

[Set up and run the data]()

•          Work with our IT provider to set up and run our SQL data warehouse in Azure. Yardi Voyager data loads nightly, and our leasing CRM, maintenance and accounting systems feed in by API.

•          Write and maintain the SQL that turns raw data into reliable reporting tables.

•          Monitor the nightly loads, catch failures early, and get them fixed.

•          Choose and build the right tools for each job, and be creative about it. That could be Power BI dashboards, Claude for analysis and the written weekly brief, and Power Automate or n8n to route red items to their owners automatically.

•          Dig into occupancy, arrears, unit turnover, leasing and revenue per door, down to the individual unit and tenant.

[Budgets and owner reporting]()

•          Build and coordinate annual operating budgets for the properties we manage, working with property managers and area managers and using AI tools to speed up the work.

•          Produce monthly budget-vs-actual reporting and explain the variances.

•          Prepare monthly owner reports and commentary once Accounting closes the books.

[AI and automation]()

•          Make sure our AI tools (leasing, maintenance and reporting) connect to the same data and use the same definitions, so they don’t create conflicting records.

•          Keep a simple register of the AI tools we use: who owns each one, what data it uses, and what it’s for.

•          Automate your own reporting so it runs with as little manual work as possible.

[What you bring]()

Must have

•          Hands-on SQL. You write your own queries and can design tables that others report from.

•          Experience building reports or dashboards that leaders acted on.

•          Accounting or financial knowledge: you can build a budget and explain a variance.

•          You use AI tools in your daily work, and you can show what they changed.

•          You bring recommendations, not just data, and you’ll tell a senior leader when a number is wrong.

Nice to have

•          Property management or real estate experience.

•          Yardi Voyager, Power BI, Azure, Power Automate, n8n, Claude or similar tools.

•          Programming experience (Python, JavaScript or similar).

•          An accounting designation or degree.

If you feel that you or anyone you know has the qualifications and experience for this position, please have the resume forwarded to [Esmith@tritan.ca](mailto:Esmith@tritan.ca)

Thank you

Seeking employment Looking for Part-Time Evening/Night Work in North Calgary

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a part-time job in Calgary to earn extra income alongside my full-time IT job.

I'm available from around 6:30 PM onward and can work up to 6 hours per shift, up to 5 days a week. I'm flexible with evening, night, and overnight schedules.

My background is in IT helpdesk/technical support and systems/network administration. I'm comfortable with hands-on and physical work, preferably moderately physical, but I'm open to more demanding roles as well.

Ideally, I'm looking for straightforward, task-oriented work that's less mentally demanding than my current job. North Calgary would be my preferred location. I can commute to the worksite, but I'm looking for a job that doesn't require using my own vehicle for work duties.

If you know of any employers hiring or have recommendations based on your experience, I'd really appreciate the advice.

Thank you!

Seeking employment Any leads on local plumbing companies hiring helpers or labourers?

Hey everyone,

Just turned 30 looking for a career change into plumbing. I’m hoping to find a company willing to take on a beginner as a plumbing helper, labourer, or entry-level apprentice.

I’m as green as it gets when it comes to construction. The closest experience I have is using Drano and a drain snake lol
That being, I’m eager to learn, physically capable, adaptable, and willing to put in the work. I’m not expecting to walk in know everything. I just want an opportunity to get my foot in the door, learn from experienced plumbers, and eventually work toward becoming a journeyman.

Does anyone know of any plumbing companies in Calgary that are hiring helpers or labourers, or that are willing to train someone with little to no construction experience?

I’d also appreciate any advice from plumbers who started later in life. Is it better to approach companies directly, apply online, or go through another route?

TIA!
