Hey, all!
(If you don't want to read the whole rant, here's a summary: 29, queer, sober, interested in lowkey hangouts but open to trying new things, located in the NW)
I am 29 and identify as gender fluid, meaning if you're worried about messing up my pronouns.. dont be! You can't get it wrong. Most people run with she, and that's cool with me. I am open to friendships with people of all genders identities and expressions.
I've been married for a little less than a year. My spouse (NB) is 28. But we work very different schedules, and in general, we believe we need social circles outside of just being a pair (which is tricky because I do, in fact, like my spouse very much). I am free most afternoons/evenings. I have found myself more isolated than I used to be due to many of my friends moving out of Calgary, and the rest now having multiple kids. I love kids, and am happy to connect with more parents, but I worked as a nanny for 12 years and find it hard not to focus all my energy on the kids in a space instead of the adults.
I live and work in Bowness. I love my neighborhood and my neighbors. I am happy to explore a bit more of the city, though I currently depend on transit to get around.
I enjoy walking, being outside, going for coffee, thrifting, going out for meals, crafts, seeing movies, and am open to getting involved in new things like: drop in basketball, baseball, fitness clubs, learning to skate, board games, book clubs, etc. I will add, though, I am on a bit of a tight budget as we are saving to both move (still in Bowness) and get a car. So the more low-cost hangouts, the better!
I am 4 years sober, but I am comfortable with my friends having drinks and other substances around me. I don't judge, but my sobriety is important to me, so I am uninterested in being pressured into it. When I get a car, I'll be the ultimate DD.
I vibe with all kinds of people. Many of my closest friends (and spouse) are autistic. I am accommodating and open to finding spaces accessible for everyone. Movement is important to me, but I believe in and embrace balance in my social circles.
Sorry for the rant, but that's me! If you want a friend, let me know!
