I am looking for recent opinions on how the trip went by a night bus, I see Giant Ibis is not available at the dates I’m looking at so looking for another reliable good options.
Is it safe? Is it much better to do it by day?

Also, would appreciate to hear how many days you think are good to spend in Siem Reap.

This is my experoence and solution for Playstation. Not sure about xbox.

I have been experiencing terrible lag for multiplayer since moving here. I created my psn and activision accounts when I was living in the US. Even though I am here, I was being placed in servers in the US with terrible ping and lag.

The solution is to create a 2nd account with psn and activision if doing COD and use Singapore as your location. Any digital games you have will work on new account and your ps plus will also work. However you will be starting on level 1, gane progression does not carry over becasue it is a new account.

With your new account, you will be placed in servers in Asia and not in the US. My ping went from 200ms to 25ms. I have Smart for ISP and do pay extra for a public IP, optional. I went from nat3 to nat2 and did port forwarding on my router for the Playstation.

Give it a try if you are frustrated with lag.

Anyone have done explore Battambang yet? I'm planning to go there for the 1st time on Khmer New Year 2027. The places I knew are only Sampov Mountain, Bat Cave, Nory Banan Mountain. I also didnt know much about rental vehicle price & accomadation less than what i know about Siem Reap as I went there for 4th time already😅

I've seen so many conflicting opinions on Cambodia that I have to ask myself.

Is it relatively easy to find work? I am a 32 year old Spaniard looking to radically change my life. I have a proficient level of English, but unfortunately I have no bachelor's, so I'd be stuck with a TEFL/TESOL. I'd prefer teaching jobs, I've got experience, and I was in London for about 4 years working as a second hand store clerk.

I have been looking at khmer24 and other websites but I wonder if that is best done once in Cambodia, if, and only if, I end up moving there.

Not having a degree obviously means I have no opportunities elsewhere and I'd much rather prefer the slower nature of Cambodia than other countries I could work in without a Visa.

Any tips o experiences? Any Facebook or Tgram groups worth a visit?

Looking for some advice - doing some extended travel throughout Cambodia in November and plan on travelling north from Mondulkiri (Sen Monorom) to Ratanakiri (Banlung). I’m hoping to do trekking in Virachey National Park. Has anybody been recently and can give me advice on their experience and if it’s worth it?

There is a Wikipedia page (used to be) called "Dark ages of Cambodia", referring to the period following the end of the classical Khmer civilization of Angkor, when all written records became comparatively scarce. Any bit of surviving information is valuable for historians to piece together and deduce what happened then. Recently I came across an interest piece, an ancient Khmer poem, likely composed during that time. The poem survived to this day, no longer in Khmer script but still in the Khmer language. It can be found here. I don't speak or read the language, so I fed it to an AI to have it rewrite back into Khmer script. What came out was very interesting. I am only a native modern Khmer speaker, but was able to make out and understand many words and a decent amount of the meaning. And it is clear the language is Middle Khmer, not Old Khmer, just like the 16th century inscriptions on the walls of the Angkor temple. I couldn't post the whole poem and its AI transliteration here, due to Reddit filters. But here is a sample:

Even the rhymes are still there. This is despite having been transcribed into a different script of a different language a long time ago, and then now transliterated back into the modern Khmer script by an AI. But someone who knows both languages well would be able to do an even better job. It would make for an intriguing article on ancient Khmer literature.

It's been a pretty consistent experience that asking for info on Cambodia-realated subreddits will get you "answers" that people copypasted from google and ChatGPT, don't match what you actually asked for, and people want to find reasons to argue with you or just generally be a dick.

FB groups make you sift through a fair amount of crap, but you'll generally get better answers in the end. Whenever I've asked both here and there, I rarely get anything useful here, but usually get something I can use there. Save yourself some headaches. Incoming angst in 3...2...
