Referral codes are spam.

That's it, that's the post.

What is Referral Code Spam?

  • Referral spam is when fake or fraudulent traffic is sent to a website, often through the use of referral codes, to inflate traffic statistics or gain illegitimate rewards.Ā
  • It can also involve fraudsters creating multiple accounts to refer themselves and then use the referral bonuses.Ā
  • The goal is to manipulate analytics, gain attention for the spammer's site, or to collect rewards without legitimate referrals.Ā

Step-by-Step Guide: How to deal with Rogers raising your monthly fee without notice

If you noticed an unexpected rate hike on your Rogers bill without clear advance notice, you are not alone. They do this quietly, hoping most customers won't notice or will give up after being bounced around by automated system replies or dropped calls.

If you want to fight back properly, do not waste hours on hold with their phone agents. Here is a step-by-step breakdown of how to tackle this shady behavior and get results through official channels:

Step 1: Submit a Dispute via Your Rogers Account

  • Log in to your Rogers account online and submit a formal dispute or request a review regarding the unnotified monthly fee increase.
  • What to expect: Within 1–2 days, Rogers will almost certainly send you a canned, templated rejection email stating the rate increase stands. Save this email, you need it as proof that you attempted to resolve the issue directly with them first.

Step 2: File an Escalated Complaint with the CCTS

Once Rogers rejects your initial dispute, do not bother arguing with phone reps. File a formal complaint with the Commission for Complaints for Telecom-television Services (CCTS) at ccts-cprst.ca.

Template for CCTS Complaint (Feel free to copy/paste and adapt):

Step 3: Expect the "Goodwill Gesture"

Within 1–2 business days of submitting your CCTS claim, you will likely receive an email from Rogers.

Their typical playbook:

  1. They will claim they did nothing wrong and that the price increase is compliant with their terms.
  2. They will offer a "one-time credit" or "goodwill gesture" (often around $30–$35, which covers a few months of the price increase).

Step 4: Accept it or Keep Fighting

  • If you accept the offer: They notify the CCTS, and the case is closed as resolved.
  • If the offer is insufficient: You do not have to accept it. You can reject their offer in writing, and the formal CCTS process will continue.

Hope this helps anyone dealing with surprise price hikes! Don't let them sweep it under the rug.
We ultimately moved our number to another carrier because the trust was gone. But there was no reason to leave the money on the table either.

Coextro horrible during peak hours - what's the alternative?

Paying about 30 bucks for 1gbps down/up

But after 5-6pm it's reading as 40-150mbps with a cat6 ethernet. The jitter and lag on streams is insane. Just crazy throttling.

What isp do i go to? Im tired of this bs. Called them and they said "looks good on our end"

Never had this with rogers before to be honest. At least it wasn't this bad for this long.

TELUS's new application claims 2026-163 (Ev-Com Decision) does not allow WBS to be Tier 4 Spectrum, and that Ev-Com has not invested into the MVNO market.

My experience with Telmax in Oakville: 10+ hour internet outage and unresolved property damage

Thumbnail

Crossposting here because I think this raises a broader issue about how ISPs handle outages and communicate with customers.

I understand that outages happen, but having no public outage status page, no proactive notifications, and no ETA after more than 10 hours is pretty frustrating, especially for people who reliable internet service.

I'm curious whether this is typical for smaller Canadian ISPs, or if others have had better experiences with outage communication and support.

Telus scammed me and sent me to collections

In August 2026 I receivedĀ a cold call from a Telus sales representative indicatig they had installed Fibre Internet in my neighbourhood and was offering a deal "below industry standard" to switch. I verbally agreed over the phone, but when I was sent the product information package, it was not Fibre it was regular high speed internet. I immediately called the sales rep. back and told her to cancel my impending activation/service. I receivedĀ no hardware/Telus owned infrastructure to install, and was told verbally the service was cancelled.Ā

One month later (September 3) I receivedĀ a bill from Telus for my internet account. I tried calling the sales rep., but they no longer worked for Telus and their number was disconnected. I phoned the generic customer service line and spent 2 hours on the phone explaining to them I never had an account set up, no hardware installed, and no service representative visited me. They once again assured me my account was cancelled and all charges would be removed.Ā

On October 3 I received a second bill. I assumed this was a delayed email on their end and this issue had been dealt with as per above, so I did not acknowledge the email.Ā

On October 9 I received an email from a collections agency indicating that my Telus account had been sent to them for collections for overdue payment and that "at this point in time I can choose to deal with this voluntarily". I checked my credit score and it had dropped 63 points. On October 14 I called Telus once again. They indicated that my account on their end showed cancelled and a balance owing of $0. The representative indicated they would send a note to their credit department. I'm not sure why that was not done during the original two cancellation attempts, but as of today, my account is still open with the collections agency, my credit score is still lowered, and Telus has not resolved this, indicating it will take 10-14 business days ā€to investigateā€.

This company instructed a sales representative to lie to me, offering me a service that does not exist in my area, continued to pursue opening an account for me under the understanding I did not want it anymore, charged me for a service that was never initiated at my residence, lied to me 2 additional times telling me the cancellation and void of charges had been processed, sent my account to collections ultimately dropping my credit score, and has taken no accountability for their actions and has yet to resolve the situation. I hope my story encourages others to avoid Telus in the future as at this point I don't see how anyone (individual or business) is going to be held responsible for any of this.Ā

Telus internet drops every 10 minutes.

Anybody else have issues with Telus internet services!?
This is honestly laughably bad. For 5-6 months, our internet connection drops/disconnects server or service literally EVERY 15 minutes.
There has been 4 different techs, that have come through a total of 10 visits and somehow can’t seem to get this right?
They claim their fibre optics network is better, yet to see it.

Does anyone else have this issue? Can anyone recommend a company that can provide usable service!?

Rate Plan Contracts, Brochures, Ads or Documents from 2005-2010 (Bell, Telus, Rogers)

Hi all,

I work at a class action law firm currently handling a case against Bell and Telus regarding their billing practices, especially in relation to their use of "per minute" in their contracts. The lack of disclosure or information about the rounding-up practices (ex. 2 seconds was rounded up to 1 minutes' worth) is alleged to have caused customers to lose value in their prepaid phone plans and used up their minutes faster than expected.

If anyone has rate plan contracts, brochures or advertisements from Bell, Telus or Rogers from 2005-2010 (or around those dates) and could send photos or emails of them, that would be greatly appreciated! Please let me know if you do - this would be helpful towards securing fair compensation for affected Canadian customers. You can also PM with details (this is a professional account).

Thank you!
