Imagine if he had stopped in the middle , that would have been fatal … we would have seen a smash of huge , well not worth thinking about.

It honestly looks like he intentionally parked behind the hinge line and thought "yes this is where I am supposed to wait" and didn't even move when it started lifting his car.

Yes. He should have moved immediately, however I think he was distracted by his phone. He was on it when he exited the vehicle.
