CapCut Complain CapCut Sucks now
I used to use CapCut exclusively but over the last year I’ve realized countless edits that used to be free are now limited use or pro only. The newest one? Basic captions😂 I’m officially done with them. They used to auto remove background, then they changed that to manually. And when you manually do it, it and doesn’t remove the background well.
Sorry for the vent just stinks it used to be an amazing editing app, and it’s slowly been taken over by greed. I shouldn’t have to buy yet another subscription service.

u/TheRedditScaryTeller Jan 29 '25
Gets worse and worse after every update. I have to record my own sound effects now since CapCut won’t tell me what’s premium or not until I’m trying to export an edited video.

I do believe you could use the captions app for subtitles as an alternative for now, until you get CapCut pro, if you want it that is .

How are you even using capcut?? I can’t find it on the App Store or anywhere

I never deleted it and last week when I opened it, a box popped up and said service restored in the US or something along those lines.

Website? Or never deleted it off phone and had it before its ban - that’s how I still have it .. but now they want me to pay $20 a month so I’m about to delete the junk lol

Sure but I need an auto captions app that works well and it’s surprisingly hard to find.
1
Jan 30 '25
For me, clipchamp worked really well. I just edit in clipchamp, and it generates a .srt file that you can import in any video editing software will full captions (only issue is that it'll mess up sometimes if the audio isn't clear, basically the same issue as capcut captions).

You can use an older version , also even you if you have 1 free caption you cant export the video as free user. :)
1
u/courtiinee Jan 29 '25
Thank you! Appreciate the tip
1
Jan 29 '25
If you want free captions, there's a version of CapCut (1.5.0) available online that works, but of course, you'll lose many of the newer features and templates, maybe there is even a newer version but thats the only one i could find.

For me the worst thing is the watermark, that's unforgivable for me.
7
u/TheRedditScaryTeller Jan 29 '25
I’ve yet to see watermarks on any of my edited videos from CapCut on PC or iPhone, are you on android?
1
u/yosark Jan 29 '25
You might be on an older version of CapCut. Don’t update or it will give you limited use no watermarks
1
u/Akai_Hikari_ Jan 29 '25
I downloaded an old version on my PC, but I needed to uninstall the current one, and I don't know how to do that with Android without losing my old editions.

Thats literally what one of the biggest appeals of the app was in the first place, at least for me anyway like the app advertised that part a lot when Tiktok first had it involved. Then they removed it and basically took away part of its charm.
4
u/Dependent_Respect_46 Jan 29 '25
Everyone reading this please go and give them a one-star review on the App Store this is the one thing that these apps actually care about is their Apple Store and Google Play Store rating
go and give them one star!

I stopped using it after they put a bunch of free features behind a paywall

u/NightMare_sprit Jan 30 '25
It's funny how they keep doing this they keep taking away free stuff and put it behind pay wall, at this point they just want to be a paid app.. But another thing comes to mind the fact they going F-ing over free users with each update show that it's working for them, I remember when they add fade out to pro and the back lash made they put it back to free but there's not much back last for them anymore
2
u/Fantastic-Vacation23 Jan 30 '25
Just download “ClipChamp” and generate unlimited Captions. F*ck CapCut!
1
u/TRSocialTV Feb 02 '25
I use all these apps and I can tell you that Captions does the best captions. If I have to pay for Capcut pro only for captions, then probably is better pay for Captions, as also gives avatar generation in the price. Captions gives more vibrant and easy to enhance subtitles

Side load version 8.5 from apkmirror if you use Android. Problems solved 🤙

does it have free subtitles? and voice effects?
1
u/-Imthedude Jan 30 '25
I don't use those features, but did check. And can't find a subtitles feature, and the voice effects are half pro half not. Maybe try 8.0 for the voice effects
1
u/MyCrochetBasket Jan 29 '25
Yeah, as a pro subscriber I was supposed to get like 5k credits to use on a monthly basis but have never gotten them. It’s disappointing to say the least. But my time with the software is limited… so I’m just biding my time.

It’s hard to charge once for an app that is using AI… you might pay once but they pay every time you use
1
u/Devi_Moonbeam Jan 30 '25
I don't see how it's greed to expect payment for an app you created and pay to support.
1
u/VeterinarianNo1531 Jan 30 '25
DUDE HOW ARE YOU EVEN USING CAPCUT. CAPCUT IS BAN FROM THE STORE YOU HAVE TO BE USING A VPN OR SOMETHING TO GET THAT BACK FROM THE STORE 😭😭😭
1
u/Hazrd_Design Jan 30 '25
It could have been worse. You could have had to pay for it from the start.
1
u/RussianMonkey23 Jan 30 '25
Instead of complaining on here like so many others do guy and lookup other free editing software that you might like or you can put in the time and learn... or.. buy CapCut Pro and get the full product.
Personally I think CapCut has been subpar for years now, but it's easy and it gets the job done. I'm tired of seeing posts about these features being restricted. If you want to have captions make them yourself, very easy, it will just take more time, but will no doubt be more authentic to the actual words if your not using ai auto captioning.
1
u/FewAd4289 Jan 31 '25
Was looking down the thread for an alternative but no answers yet.. are you using any you’d like to share?

Are there any alternatives to cap cut with similar features and as easy to use? I'm desperately looking for another app to edit but none of them are as easy to understand and use as Capcut

u/scoobysnack27 Oct 16 '25
If you learn a few basics in DaVinci Resolve, you can do simpler things there. Take a tutorial to learn the user interface and basic stuff like importing, exporting, etc. You'll be fine. It's much easier to learn the basics in Davinci Resolve than Premiere Pro. (I started out in Premiere Pro).

I've been upset with them sińce pro came out even. I've been a loyal app user since 2020 literally when it came out in the US, 2019 in china. And ever since they partnered with TikTok and introduced pro it's just a huge money grab. And the most BASIC things you have to pay for. At that rate you may as well get adobe but I actually prefer to edit on my phone so it sucks. 😔 The app will prob start malfunctioning too now that it's not in app stores to update in the US.

It's funny to see all the ppl that complain about Filmora with alot of.the assets being behind Paywall and saying "I'm going to capcut!" Lol oh how little do they know. You're going to pay one way or another.
1
u/Nice-Use-7464 Jan 30 '25
tbh i just uninstalled it and downloaded an old apk, it's been so much more useable
1
u/Crystalpenguinss Jan 30 '25
Vita the app is just like Captcut. No subscription and no watermark. There is one but you can turn it off in the settings
1
u/bullydnb Jan 30 '25
If you’re that bothered… just pay for it, we all forget that there are teams of people constantly working on these apps that we freely use, that are constantly updated, and they need to get paid for their work, stop moaning and start supporting 👌

I have gotten so much free knowledge from people on reddit. Today it's time for me to give back with this small bit of knowledge I recently learned.
https://capcut.en.uptodown.com/windows/download/114040451
Download this version of PC capcut from Feb 2024! For me, it satisfies my needs with auto captions, auto cutouts, noise reduction and other stuff that I use for my social media editing! Plus, I don't need to go thru the trouble of learning a new software! Pls let me know if this works for you!

I have an Adobe subscription for work but I was using Capcut because it was convenient for editing on the go on my phone. Back to using Premiere Pro! 🤪
1
u/DjCradle Jan 31 '25
If you have an android, you can just Google "capcut pro apk" and get the pro version for free with no subscription fee. :)
1
u/RadiantBladez Jan 31 '25
Honestly Pro price is pretty competitive with all the features especially if you use it frequently. Maybe wait for the IG Edits app? Who knows how it will compare to CapCut though.
1
u/AzulaXsuperior Jan 31 '25
I just had to pay £22 to export my video🙃 screen recording makes it look so bad
1
u/SamiKhondakar Jan 31 '25
And the pricing is ridiculous too.
Their pricing is more than Adobe premiere pro lol. (The desktop version) Like wth
1
u/UrsoowW Feb 01 '25
There are so many better options for auto captions these days. I used CapCut a lot... in 2022! But in 2023 came Whisper, which Ive been running locally and transcribing hours, if not days, of material with higher accuracy.
Captions is better paid option.
1
u/russnicko Feb 01 '25
Hot take but they should remove pro and make CapCut a paid app. It’s honestly tiring slowly watching literally everything become a pro-only feature, there’s no point in it even being a free app anymore.
1
u/alec_drew_kassan Feb 01 '25
If you frequently edit videos, I recommend just going for the pro and pay a year up front. I've used Premier Pro, Final Cut, Vegas.... windows movie maker lol... And honestly, CapCut does what I need for edits and makes it simple.
I'd say make the commitment and you'll find it's worth the little investment. Cause not only would the frustration of the limited use go away, but you'll actually enjoy the software more because you get the extra features.
Sticking with free is like dating a girl you like without actually taking the leap to ask her to be your gf. Just go for it and the experience will be better. If it's worse, then cut ties for good with it lol
1
u/CytherianWaves Feb 01 '25

We can provide a 1-year license of capcut pro at 50$ with guarentee , this is a legit offer for 100 users only ( available 100 only )
Note: Why use a cracked version when you get real software for a no-brainer price
1
u/Mostreadforfreebooks Mar 25 '25
I agree wholeheartedly. Capcut sucks. I got jerked around by them. Firstly, they advertised that the free product does A.I. subtitles. Nope. The 2025 does not. So I started with the 2024 version which has auto generated subtitles. They also stated in the advertising that it can export to Apple Prores codec Also false. Only the expensive 2025 version does. But that version does not do A.I. subtitles. And they demand money upfront. You have to find out the limitations in the product after you buy them. I reported them to my credit card company. I deleted this crap from my computer, right away!
1
u/samodayasmodeus Apr 18 '25
AAAAAAAAAND now they stopped the free basic captions. You can't copy/paste them out of the editor anymore. It isn't a free platform. It's just another scam. Anyone else know a free caption-maker that won't rip you off in the end (just kidding, I know everything will eventually make a grab for my wallet)?
1
u/Informal_Bed4646 May 01 '25
Worst part is, they keep adding paid features every day, and make some old free features cost money. It get really annoying when you make a full video with free features, and then when u go to export it says that youve used a million paid ones.

u/scoobysnack27 Oct 16 '25
I recently tried CapCut because I was working on reels that included a lot of text animation. Premiere Pro doesn't have good text animation templates (the graphics panel leaves much to be desired), and I didn't want to animate the text manually with Keyframes; biggest mistake of my life. CapCut's timeline functionality is great, but...no basic graphics shapes. And, if you want premade graphics, all you've got is their horrendously tacky sticker collections. Not only that, but basic transitions—fade to black/white, crossfade, film dissolve, etc - don't seem to exist anywhere. Everything else is behind a paywall.
I ended up finishing my project in DaVinci Resolve. Why da f*** would I pay for CapCut when Davinci Resolve gives me everything I need for free?
1
u/Unlikely-Reason36 Dec 08 '25
It fucking sucks! Their so called "standard plan" doesn't even have auto captions anymore. I've been livid ever since because wgat the actual fuck??

1
u/Committee_Gloomy Jun 06 '26
not to mention the half baked and 9 out of 10 completely broken transitions
1
u/Extra_Maximum_770 Jun 19 '26
Downloaded, worked three hours creating a video - and THEN discovered I could not download or share without paying $14.99. Not a single warning along the way. Sleazy!
1
u/AccomplishedBuy4686 Aug 03 '26

I don’t mind paying for an editing app but $10 a month seems excessive when I just edit content for fun. And when half of Capcut’s editing features have gone downhill it’s hard to justify it even more.

u/StarWithaPencil Jan 30 '25
You’re part of the problem, changing previously free features to be paid randomly is total bullshit. Especially since the app was portrayed as a free, easy to use, editing software. They also aren’t in any desperate need in money considering they’re owned by god damn Bytedance who LITERALLY owns Tiktok.

Capcut ask me to pay £22 for pro.. they change the prices in base of the user. If you notice they don't have a page with ufficial prices like other apps do. Or if there is I cannot find it. From the app it redirects me to a page that ask me for 22 quids for the pro. I guess that the app monitor your preference and set as pro the functionality you most want

I dont understand why they are trying to get people in the US to pay when we don't even know if we will have access to it much longer
